    Privacy Preserving Optics Clustering

    Get PDF
OPTICS is a well-known density-based clustering algorithm which uses DBSCAN theme without producing a clustering of a data set openly, but as a substitute, it creates an augmented ordering of that particular database which represents its density-based clustering structure. This resulted cluster-ordering comprises information which is similar to the density based clustering’s conforming to a wide range of parameter settings. The same algorithm can be applied in the field of privacy-preserving data mining, where extracting the useful information from data which is distributed over a network requires preservation of privacy of individuals’ information. The problem of getting the clusters of a distributed database is considered as an example of this algorithm, where two parties want to know their cluster numbers on combined database without revealing one party information to other party. This issue can be seen as a particular example of secure multi-party computation and such sort of issues can be solved with the assistance of proposed protocols in our work along with some standard protocols

Efficacy of light based detection systems for early detection of oral cancer and oral potentially malignant disorders: systematic review

Background: Earlier detection of oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) and oral potentially malignant disorders (OPMD) is essential for dental professionals to improve patient survival rates. The aim of this systematic review is to to evaluate the effectiveness of devices that utilise the principles of chemiluminescence and tissue autofluorescence as adjuncts in the detection of OSCC and OPMD. Material and Methods: The electronic retrieval systems and databases searched for relevant articles were PubMed [MEDLINE] and Science direct. The search was for limited articles published in English or with an English abstract and articles published during the period from January 2005 to April 2014. Clinical trials utilized ViziLite, Microlux TM/DL and Visual Enhanced Light scope (VELscope) for early detection of OPMD and OSCC. Results: Twenty primary studies published satisfied our criteria for selection - 10 utilised chemiluminescence and 10 tissue autofluorescence. Senstivity of Vizilite for detecting OSCC nad OPMD ranged from 77.1 % to 100% and specificity was low that ranged from 0% to 27.8%.Most have shown that chemiluminescence increases the brightness and margins of oral mucosal white lesions and thus assist in identification of mucosal lesions not considered under Conventional visual examination. However, it preferentially detects leukoplakia and may fail to spot red patches. Clinical trials demonstrated that sensitivity of VELscope in detecting malignancy and OPMD ranged from 22 % to 100 % and specificity ranged from 16 % to 100%. Most studies concluded that VELscope can help the experienced clinician to find oral precursor malignant lesions. But it couldnot differentiate between dysplasia and benign inflammatory conditions. Conclusions: Both devices are simple, non-invasive test of the oral mucosa but are suited for clinicians with sufficient experience and training. More clinical trials in future should be conducted to establish optical imaging as an efficacious adjunct tool in early diagnosis of OSCC and OPMD

WhatsApp control: a new norm to succeed in LIMS adoption

Background: Adoption of the LIMS (laboratory information management system) serves varied purposes in the diagnostic laboratory and might take a very lengthy period for its implementation. But, without controls being put in place, it can create a barrier to the project’s execution and prevent it from being finished on time. Methods: A WhatsApp group with 22 members, including lab technicians, heads of lab sections, a billing manager, an operations assistant manager, an assistant nursing caretaker, and administrative staff, was created. The assistant operations manager posted the daily pending report status in the WhatsApp group to help the lab team ratify, correct, and complete the assignments. To track pending report closures in real-time, the WhatsApp group mediated weekly follow-ups. The laboratory services department head informed the team monthly on the project’s status. The nonparametric Wilcoxon rank test and paired student t-test were performed to compare pre and post-survey responses before and after the seven-month intervention period. Results: The non-parametric Wilcoxon rank test and paired t-test results of the post-test demonstrated that the participant’s answer had improved significantly since the pre-test. The questionnaire showed that participants liked the new WhatsApp control mechanism. The number of pending reports reduced from 4,000 to 240 in seven months, a statistically significant decrease at a p value of 0.01. This supports the newly implemented WhatsApp control. Conclusions: Based on this interventional study, WhatsApp-based controls can be employed in conjunction with more conventional ways to regulate process outcomes during LIMS adoption

DESIGN OPTIMIZATION AND EXPERIMENTAL STUDY ON THE BLOWER FOR FLUFFS COLLECTION SYSTEM

Centrifugal fans play an important role in the fluffs collection system for industrial cleaner. Therefore it has become necessary to study on the parameters which influences the performance of the blower. Parameters chosen for optimization are - fan outer diameter, number of blades and fan blade angle. Taguchi’s orthogonal array method helps to find out the optimum number of cases and the modelling has been carried out using SOLIDWORKS. ICEM CFD is used for meshing the blowers and analysed using FLUENT. In this study, analytical results are compared with experimental values. ANOVA is used to find out the percentage contribution of parameters on the output. Using Minitab software the optimum combination is identified. The result shows that the optimum combinations are 190 mm outer diameter, 80° blade angle and 8 numbers of blades

Conceptual Development of a Transformable Chair Using TRIZ

Abstract There is increased sophistication in the field of transformable furniture which will acquire less space with minimum weight. This applied research was done to develop a transformable chair which would satisfy various needs of people. The study of existing models was carried out and survey was conducted to understand the voice of the customer. Concept generation tool (here TRIZ) was used to generate various concepts. Newer concepts were modeled in SOLIDWORKS. Customer feedback for the newly modeled concepts was carried out to narrow down our choices to only single concept. After choosing the concept, Golden ratio was applied to it and the results were analyzed

Abstract: To evaluate the drug utilization of third generation cephalosporins using core drug use indicators in various wards of Sri Ramachandra Hospital. Third generation cephalosporins are the most commonly prescribed broad spectrum antibiotic even before the culture sensitivity results arrives. Hence this study was undertaken to study the drug utilization evaluation of third generation cephalosporins in the inpatient department of various wards of Sri Ramachandra Hospital. A prospective study was conducted between July 2009 and February 2010. Prescriptions of 364 patients containing third generation cephalosporins admitted in inpatient department of various wards of Sri Ramachandra Hospital, Chennai were collected and using WHO basic drug indicators, the utilization pattern were analyzed. The average number of drugs per prescription was found to be 7.89 on prescription analysis. Cefixime was the most frequently prescribed (32.69%) oral third generation cephalosporins, followed by cefotaxime (31.32%). Among IV third generation cephalosporins, cefotaxime was the most frequently prescribed injections (35.4%). Only 28.02% of drugs were prescribed by generic name. The results obtained represent the over all prescribing pattern of third generation cephalosporins in the Tertiary Care Teaching Hospital, Chennai
