Calculation of Ground State Energy for Confined Fermion Fields
A method for renormalization of the Casimir energy of confined fermion fields
in (1+1)D is proposed. It is based on the extraction of singularities which
appear as poles at the point of physical value of the regularization parameter,
and subsequent compensation of them by means of redefinition of the "bare"
constants. A finite ground state energy of the two-phase hybrid model of
fermion bag with chiral boson-fermion interaction is calculated as the function

Equations of Motion of Spinning Relativistic Particle in External Fields
We consider the motion of a spinning relativistic particle in external
electromagnetic and gravitational fields, to first order in the external field,
but to an arbitrary order in spin. The correct account for the spin influence
on the particle trajectory is obtained with the noncovariant description of
spin. Concrete calculations are performed up to second order in spin included.
A simple derivation is presented for the gravitational spin-orbit and spin-spin
interactions of a relativistic particle. We discuss the gravimagnetic moment
(GM), a specific spin effect in general relativity. It is demonstrated that for
the Kerr black hole the gravimagnetic ratio, i.e., the coefficient at the GM,
equals to unity (as well as for the charged Kerr hole the gyromagnetic ratio
equals to two). The equations of motion obtained for relativistic spinning
particle in external gravitational field differ essentially from the Papapetrou

Dirac and Weyl Equations on a Lattice as Quantum Cellular Automata
A discretized time evolution of the wave function for a Dirac particle on a
cubic lattice is represented by a very simple quantum cellular automaton. In
each evolution step the updated value of the wave function at a given site
depends only on the values at the nearest sites, the evolution is unitary and
preserves chiral symmetry. Moreover, it is shown that the relationship between
Dirac particles and cellular automata operating on two component objects on a
lattice is indeed very close. Every local and unitary automaton on a cubic
lattice, under some natural assumptions, leads in the continuum limit to the
Weyl equation. The sum over histories is evaluated and its connection with path
integrals and theories of fermions on a lattice is outlined.Comment: 6, RevTe
Covariant and Heavy Quark Symmetric Quark Models
There exist relativistic quark models (potential or MIT-bag) which satisfy
the heavy quark symmetry (HQS) relations among meson decay constants and form
factors. Covariant construction of the momentum eigenstates, developed here,
can correct for spurious center-of-mass motion contributions.Proton form factor
and M1 transitions in quarkonia are calculated. Explicit expression for the
Isgur-Wise function is found and model determined deviations from HQS are
studied. All results depend on the model parameters only. No additional ad hoc

Cosmological perturbations in the Palatini formulation of modified gravity
Cosmology in extended theories of gravity is considered assuming the Palatini
variational principle, for which the metric and connection are independent
variables. The field equations are derived to linear order in perturbations
about the homogeneous and isotropic but possibly spatially curved background.
The results are presented in a unified form applicable to a broad class of
gravity theories allowing arbitrary scalar-tensor couplings and nonlinear
dependence on the Ricci scalar in the gravitational action. The gauge-ready
formalism exploited here makes it possible to obtain the equations immediately
in any of the commonly used gauges. Of the three type of perturbations, the
main attention is on the scalar modes responsible for the cosmic large-scale
structure. Evolution equations are derived for perturbations in a late universe
filled with cold dark matter and accelerated by curvature corrections. Such
corrections are found to induce effective pressure gradients which are
problematical in the formation of large-scale structure. This is demonstrated
by analytic solutions in a particular case. A physical equivalence between
scalar-tensor theories in metric and in Palatini formalisms is pointed out.Comment: 14 pages; the published version (+ an appendix). Corrected typos in

Effective Lagrangian Approach to the Theory of Eta Photoproduction in the Region
We investigate eta photoproduction in the resonance region
within the effective Lagrangian approach (ELA), wherein leading contributions
to the amplitude at the tree level are taken into account. These include the
nucleon Born terms and the leading -channel vector meson exchanges as the
non-resonant pieces. In addition, we consider five resonance contributions in
the - and - channel; besides the dominant , these are:
and . The amplitudes for the
and the photoproduction near threshold have significant
differences, even as they share common contributions, such as those of the
nucleon Born terms. Among these differences, the contribution to the
photoproduction of the -channel excitation of the is the most
significant. We find the off-shell properties of the spin-3/2 resonances to be
important in determining the background contributions. Fitting our effective
amplitude to the available data base allows us to extract the quantity
, characteristic of the
photoexcitation of the resonance and its decay into the
-nucleon channel, of interest to precise tests of hadron models. At the
photon point, we determine it to be from
the old data base, and from a
combination of old data base and new Bates data. We obtain the helicity
amplitude for to be from the old data base, and from the combination of the old data base and new Bates
data, compared with the results of the analysis of pion photoproduction
