A decomposition theorem for 0-cycles and applications

We prove a decomposition theorem for the cohomological Chow group of 0-cycles on the double of a quasi-projective R1R_1-scheme over a field along a closed subscheme, in terms of the Chow groups, with and without modulus, of the scheme. This yields a significant generalization of the decomposition theorem of Binda-Krishna. As applications, we prove a moving lemma for Chow groups with modulus and an analogue of Bloch's formula for 0-cycles with modulus on singular surfaces. The latter extends a previous result of Binda-Krishna-Saito.Comment: 25 pages. Final version. Title and abstract changed. Sections 6 and 7 have been removed and will appear as a separate paper. Play is one of the main ways through which children learn and develop. When we explain a concept in any subject, such as an event in history, a poem or a concept in mathematics, it can be made more interesting and meaningful through play. In an environment in which children themselves do things, they move towards learning easily and quickly. I want to share one such experience of mine

BUERGER’S DISEASE –TREATMENT WITH AYURVEDA: CASE STUDY

Smoking is injurious to health. But those who are addicted to smoking never take this statement seriously. Nicotine present in tobacco causes vasospasm and inflammatory endarteritis. It is a prothombotic stage and subsequently causes vaso-occlusion. This usually affects lower limbs especially small and medium sized arteries. Disease progression is closely associated with heavy and continuous ingestion or inhalation of tobacco. Incidence of Burger’s disease is more common in men. It is very rare in females. Conservative treatments prescribed for this disease in initial phase were vasodilators, pentoxyphylline, low dose of aspirin, platelet aggregation inhibitor drugs. Surgical intervention involves chemical sympathectomy, lumbar sympathectomy and amputation of the gangrenous part. In Ayurveda Buerger’s disease is not mentioned. But with the symptoms and the pathology correlation to three Doshas it is possible to treat the disease. Here is a case study of male patient aged 32 years came with complaints of non healing ulcer which was created after amputation of all toes including great toes of right foot 6 months back. He was a chronic chain smoker and was diagnosed Buerger’s disease. He was given leech therapy once in 7 days along with oral Ayurvedic drugs and local application on wound

A field study on ‘effects of integrated nutrient management on vegetative growth and flowering quality of gladiolus (Gladiolus hybridus Hort.) cv. American Beauty’ was carried out at College of Horticulture and Forestry, Jhalawar during 2016-17. It was found that cv. American Beauty with treatment the tallest plants (121.50 cm), maximum number of leaves per plant (9.03), the maximum  leaf length (38.20 cm), earliest spike emergence (59.22 days), minimum number of days to floret opening (12.50 days), maximum number of florets per spike (17.53), maximum spike length (108.50 cm), maximum floret diameter (9.01 cm), maximum rachis length (39.03 cm) was found in T12 (RDF 75% + Azotobacter + PSB + Mycorrhiza). The maximum stem diameter (1.52 cm) and maximum spike girth (0.97 cm) was recorded in T10 (RDF 75% + PSB + Mycorrhiza). On the basis of foregoing summary, the results may be concluded as follow: The different bio-fertilizer treatments had significant influence on the vegetative growth, flowering and post-harvest of gladiolus in the present study. Application of bio fertilizer singly and in different combinations has significant effect on all the vegetative, floral and corms parameters. Therefore, among various bio fertilizers and their combinations, Azotobacter, PSB and Myccorhiza were found the best, followed by un-inoculated treatment show least value for these parameters during the seasons of experiment

    Get PDF
Objective: The objective of the present research investigation involves synthesis and biological evaluation of antidiabetic activity of benzothiazole derivatives. Methods: A novel series of benzothiazole derivatives 7(a-l) were synthesised and synthesised compounds were characterised for different physical and chemical properties like molecular formula, molecular weight, melting point, percentage yield, Rf value, IR, 1HNMR, 13CNMR and mass spectroscopy. The newly synthesised benzothiazole derivatives were subsequently assayed in vivo to investigate their hypoglycemic activity by the alloxan-induced diabetic model in rats. Results: All the synthesised derivatives showed significant biological efficacy. The compound 7d at 350 mg/kg exerted maximum glucose lowering effects whereas 7c showed minimum glucose lowering effects. All the compounds were effective, and experimental results were statistically significant at p<0.01 and p<0.05 level. Conclusion: From the results, it is clear that compound 7d demonstrated potent anti-diabetic activity and would be of better use in drug development to combat the metabolic disorder in future

Sericulture, as an agro based artisanal industry, has proved its potential in raising sustainable income and employment in the rural sector of both traditional and non-traditional states of India. The entire gamut of production in sericulture generates huge economic growth for small villages and its inhabitants and restrict rural to urban migration. This study is based on primary data of sample size 50 which belong to the sericulture farmers and artisans in Burhanpur district of Madhya Pradesh, India. The paper analyzes their knowledge level on improved technology and the adoption level of this advanced technology in sericulture business. The knowledge of technology has found to have greater impact on improving the productivity and production in terms of agriculture as well as its allied activities. This study finds out significant positive impact of variables like, full and partial knowledge about advanced technology and its adoption on the development of the sector. Farmers’ perception about ‘high cost of technology adoption’ and ‘lack of awareness’ are two chief reasons for their non-adoption of the technical advancement. So knowledge and adoption level of advance technology need to be synchronized and extended to base level, making it more cost efficient and easily available to poor farmers and artisans

Sericulture: An Economic Boon for Madhya Pradesh (special reference to Burhanpur District)

Economic development essentially bears a directly proportional relation with income and employment of a country. In fact the policy makers of any country always focus on this issue and adopt several measures to generate employment. Sericulture is one of such on-farm and off-farm activity which has the potential to generate employment to numerous low skilled rural people in India. Moreover, the final consumers of the silk fabric and goods are affluent sections of the society. Thus production and sales of silk goods ultimately help the economy to reduce the inequality among society. Madhya Pradesh is a non-traditional silk producing state in India which has immense potential to uplift sericulture activities. However, a proper and regular monitoring by State and Central Silk Board is required to elevate the industry in desired direction. The present paper is an empirical study that focuses on the growth rate of raw silk productivity in Madhya Pradesh. The paper highlights the involvement of enterprising sericulture farmers in mulberry plantation and cocoons production and its impact on development of sericulture in Burhanpur District of Madhya Pradesh. The study observes that within a short span of time the state has improved its productivity in sericulture through making awareness campaign to the seri-farmers so that boon of upgraded technology can be communicated. The sericulture sector in Burhanpur is thus expected to improve the socio-economic life of the rural farmers
