Characteristic of Thin Sheet Membrane for a Mechanical Driven Micropump System

    Get PDF
This paper demonstrates the characteristic of thin sheet membrane for a mechanical driven micropump system by using a spin coater machine. The moving diaphragm material is made from a PDMS prepolymer material. A 100 mm diameter petri dish is used as the mold template for the membrane fabrication. There are three variables that influence the membrane thickness formation during the spin coating process, which are the prepolymer weight, spin coater spinning rate speed and the spinning time. Based on the study, the optimum parameters to fabricate a 300 µm thin sheet membrane by using a 100 mm diameter of petri dish are 2.5 g of prepolymer, 500 rpm of spin coater speed and 180 s of spin time. These parameters yield a thin sheet membrane for the micropump application with 314.82 ± 3.6556 µm thickness

Abandoned construction: Factors and ways to circumvent abandoned housing projects in Peninsular Malaysia

Abandoned housing projects are one the major problems in the housing industry in Peninsular Malaysia.A housing project is considered abandoned when construction activities on-site housing construction has ceased for 6 (six) months or more in a row, after the completion of the sale and purchase agreement has been signed by the developer and the buyer or the developer has put under the control of the Official Receiver and Controller of Housing. This paper reviewed information on the current issues of causes of occurrence of abandoned projects. The reasons leading to this problem are many. This catastrophe has caused multifarious problems to the stakeholders, particularly the purchasers who become the aggrieved parties.Until to date there is no effective and once-and-for-all means to face the problems of abandoned housing projects. This project aims to analyze the factors of existence abandoned housing project in Peninsular Malaysia and find the best way to revive this abandoned housing project

/ Hand washing practice is one of preventive measures for some common infectious diseases. Thus to promote hand washing among community, level of knowledge and awareness amoog the population should be assessed so that appropriate interventions can be carried out. The objective of this study was to study the knowledge, attitude and practice 00 hand washing among residents of Stapang I aged 18 and above from 11th of June to 17th of August 201iJ The results obtained were then using as the baseline data to conduct an intervention programme beneficial to the community to enhance their level of knowledge, attitude and practice towards hand washing. Data collection was done by face to face interview using interview-based questionnaire. Data analysis was done using SPSS software version 20.0. Results showed that 50% of the respondents had good knowledge and good attitude while 63.3% had good practice towards hand washing. Post-intervention study showed significant improvement in the total score for knowledge and attitude towards hand washing (pO.05). In conclusion, there is a great need for intensive intervention in order to enhance the practice of hand washing among the respondents

This paper presents the design and development of a dual-chamber microchannel chip, coupled with an electromagnetic actuator for a bidirectional flow micropump system. A rapid prototyping technique is reported for the fabrication of the membrane sheet (a spin coater machine technique), microchannel chip (a photolithography technique) and controller system (a wet etching method to the circuit board), decreased development time by allowing correction and evaluation of the micropump to be made early in the process. To achieve a bidirectional flow, a dispersing depth was implemented between the microchannel chamber and inlet/outlet channel. From the numerical simulation and experimental analysis obtained, the micropump was capable for bidirectional flow application with the maximum volumetric flow rate of the fabricated micropump system at zero backpressure is 1.1254 ± 0.0658 μLs−1 (forward direction) and 1.1266 ± 0.0760 μLs−1 (reversed direction). The power consumption for the developed micropump system is 48.64 mW
