    Seasonal variation of the nematode Camallanus anabantis in the fish Anabas testudineus in Loktak Lake, Manipur, India

    The present paper deals with the study of the seasonal variation on the occurrence of the Nematode Camallanus anabantis from the fish host Anabas testudineus from Loktak Lake, Manipur during May 2010- April 2011. A total of 460 number of A. testudineus has been sampled for the parasite infection and 335 fishes (71 %) has been found to be infected with the nematode thereby indicating high prevalence of infection of the nematode parasites in the fish

    The present investigation deals with the description of one known species, Pallisentis ophiocephali (Thapar, 1930) Baylis, 1933 from fish host Chaniia ,ctriatzis (BI.) from a new locality and description of one new species, Acanthocephahislokiakensis from fish host Channagachua (Ham.). A. Ioktakensis differs from all species of the genus Acanthocephalus in the size proboscis hooks and size of roots of hooks.     The present paper deals with redescription and new locality report of some caryophyllid, infected in some freshwater fishes found in Loktak Lake, Manipur. Two species of the genus Lytocestus, namely Lytocestus birmanicus Lynsdale, 1956 and Lytocestus bishnupurensis Shomorendra et al. 2003 from fish host Clarias batrachus and Mystus sp., Djombangia penetrans Bovien, 1926 and Capingentoides singhi Verma, 1971 from fish host Clarias batrachus. All the species except L. hishnupurensis are reported for the first time from the state of Manipur
