    Honour Crime; Factors and Challenges: A Case Study of Khyber Pakhtunkwa Province Pakistan

    The Province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan has a 35.25 million population and the largest ethnic group is the Pashtun. Society is strongly conservative and loves the strong moral character. This study was an attempt to ascertain the major causes of honour killing in the Province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan highlighting the legal and institutional framework adopted by the enforcing agencies to overcome it. At the same time, this study will ascertain the factors behind the increase of honour killing and defectiveness in the legal and institutional framework by analysis of available data in the literature that relevant to such killings taking into consideration the racial, religious, historical, and political motives. Lastly Study concluded with substantial recommendations that may be adopted as step forward in eradication of such a tenacious phenomenon

    Building Peace through Poetry in the Fragile Context of Erstwhile FATA

    Purpose: The local peace actors, including poets, play an important role in promoting peace in a conflict context. In this vein, this study aims to investigate the role of local poets in promoting peace in the conflict-affected communities of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan Methodology: A qualitative inquiry was conducted in one of the Districts of former FATA, namely Bajaour. During fieldwork, fifty in-depth interviews were conducted with key informants, including poets, journalists, teachers, writers, and traditional peacebuilders. Findings: Thematic analysis revealed four major themes of local poets' role in promoting peace. These themes are; firstly, the poets highlighted the miseries of the conflict situation in their poetry. Secondly, they attempted to give voice to the sighs of oppressed and voiceless people. Thirdly, they resisted the increasing oppression. Finally, they preached peace and resisted violence Implications: It is concluded that poetry is an effective tool for promoting peace which should be used by peacebuilding organizations and government agencies working for peace in a conflict context

    Dr Illama Muhammad Iqbal being a Sufi and national poet wrote about various ideologies, characteristics and human rights particularly focusing women rights. As a major part of his research and poetry is based on Islamic philosophy and seems inspired by different Sufis like Mansoor, Room I etc. His novel work of deriving analogies keeping in view the Islamic concepts and traditions unlike orthodox view. He was of the opinion that Islam is a universal and long-lasting religion so must fulfil current needs etc. To comply the existing requirements.While narrating the female/women rights he emphasized upon women rights much more than discussed ever before his era. As the condition of women in that age was pathetic, suppressed, subjugated and deprived. Those who favoured feminist movement criticised Islam as discriminatory religion showing partiality towards females. In such environment Iqbal depicted the clear picture of Islam and highlighted role, importance and rights of woman in Islam. Particularly in Zarb-i-kaleem, Javed Nama and Ramooz-i-bekhudi he focused such issues. He critically analysed the western concept and considered it in vogue. He never denied rights of females but demarcated her rights from that of males in Islamic perspective. This work is an endeavour to discuss rights and role of a Muslim women as per Iqbal's philosophy who was also in favour of liberty and equality but in prescribed parameters
