(E)-4-Bromo-2-[(2,6-diisopropylphenyl)iminomethyl]phenol
In the title compound, C19H22BrNO, the dihedral angle between the benzene rings is 76.17 (14)° and an intramolecular O—H⋯N hydrogen bond with an S(6) graph-set motif is present. One methyl group is disordered over two sets of sites with site occupancies of 0.66 (3) and 0.34 (3). A weak intermolecular C—H⋯π interaction is observed in the crystal structure
Oxidative Decarboxylation of <i>N</i>‑Phenyl Glycine by Peroxomonosulfate in a Perchloric Acid MediumCatalytic Effect of Cu2+ and VO2+ Ions
The kinetics of oxidative decarboxylation
of <i>N</i>-phenyl glycine (NPG) by peroxomonosulfate (PMS)
in perchloric acid
medium was investigated at 278 K. The mechanism of the catalytic effect
of vanadium(IV) (VO2+) and copper(II) (Cu2+)
in the oxidation was also discussed. The oxidation reaction was first-order,
with respect to [NPG] in all of the cases. The rate of the reaction
decreased with increase in [H+], i.e., the oxidation reaction
was acid inhibited. The products were identified by gas chromatography
and confirmed by comparing with the authentic sample. The reaction
constants involved in the different steps of the reactions were calculated.
The catalytic constant (<i>K</i>c) was determined
for the catalyzed reactions and observed that the catalytic efficiency
was in the order of VO2+ > Cu2+
Crystal structure of 3,9,9-trimethyl-2,3,3a,4,9,9a-hexahydro-1H-cyclopenta[b]quinolin-4-ium chloride
The title molecular salt, C15H22N+·Cl−, arose as an unexpected product of the reaction between aniline and melanol in the presence of HCl. The central heterocyclic ring has a half-chair conformation and the five-membered ring has an envelope conformation, with the C atom linked to the N atom as the flap. In the crystal, the ions are linked by N—H...Cl hydrogen bonds, generating chains propagating in the [100] direction. The crystal studied was a merohedral twin with a 0.64 (3):0.36 (3) domain ratio
