Novel magnetic properties of graphene: Presence of both ferromagnetic and antiferromagnetic features and other aspects

Investigations of the magnetic properties of graphenes prepared by different methods reveal that dominant ferromagnetic interactions coexist along with antiferromagnetic interactions in all the samples. Thus, all the graphene samples exhibit room-temperature magnetic hysteresis. The magnetic properties depend on the number of layers and the sample area, small values of both favoring larger magnetization. Molecular charge-transfer affects the magnetic properties of graphene, interaction with a donor molecule such as tetrathiafulvalene having greater effect than an electron-withdrawing molecule such as tetracyanoethyleneComment: 16 pges, 5 figure

The main of this study was to examine the use and effectiveness of library and information services. In this study the examine distributed Questionnaires among 200 Research Scholars at GITAM University, Andhra Pradesh, India and collect primary data from respondents. A total number of 170 filled questionnaires were received using frequency and percentage counts. Findings from the study revealed that reference, digital library, circulation, photocopying services were the most important utilized services. These services were also considered as effective services. Majority of users were satisfied library and information services. Quenching of fluorescence of aromatic molecules by graphene due to electron transfer

Investigations on the fluorescence quenching of graphene have been carried out with two organic donor molecules, pyrene butanaoic acid succinimidyl ester (PyBS, I) and oligo(p-phenylenevinylene) methyl ester (OPV-ester, II). Absorption and photoluminescence spectra of I and II recorded in mixture with increasing the concentrations of graphene showed no change in the former, but remarkable quenching of fluorescence. The property of graphene to quench fluorescence of these aromatic molecules is shown to be associated with photo-induced electron transfer, on the basis of fluorescence decay and time-resolved transient absorption spectroscopic measurements.Comment: 18 pages, 6 figure

Case Study of Landslide in NH –13 at Kethikal Near Mangalore – India

    Get PDF
The disastrous slope failure occurred at the Kethikal hill, in the outskirts of Mangalore city in NH 13, India, during the month of June 1998 soon after the heavy and continuous monsoon rains. Many closely built dwelling houses at the top of hill are damaged and the traffic along the road is also diverted for some duration. Typical stratified slope with three layers is considered for the stability analysis and the general computer program is developed in C language for optimization of factor of safety. The factor of safety is calculated using Janbu’s generalized procedure of slices and Davidon-Fletcher-Powel (DFP) technique for optimization. The road is acting as a berm in Kethikal slope. The program gives factor of safety and the co ordinates of critical slip surface. The program is modified to take the effect of tension crack and the effect of berm. The automated stability analysis program gave least value of factor of safety in base failure with tension crack and a berm. The obtained result matches with the field observation. Kethikal landslide is due to the development of high pore pressure in soil
