La intensidad de la externalización hotelera y sus beneficios y riesgos percibidos

    Get PDF

To do so, levels of current and desired outsourcing are analyzed. The paper tries to determine what advantages and risks are perceived by managers of this strategy. In addition, the study analyzes the relationship between the size, category, and type of hotel and outsourcing. The results indicate that the level of outsourcing in hotels is quite high. Moreover, the outsourcing benefits perceived by managers are more tactical than strategic. There is a relationship between outsourcing and the size of hotel

Outsourcing Performance in Hotels: Evaluating Partnership Quality

    No full text
In this study, a research model investigates the influence of various factors of the outsourcing relationship that condition partnership quality. The factors considered as determinants of outsourcing partnership quality are the strategic benefits and the degree of outsourcing. Partnership quality is based on relationships governed by confidence, commitment, business understanding, shared benefits and risks, and conflict resolution. The model also studies the influence of the partnership quality between the supplier and the hotel on the outsourcing performance, considered from the financial, strategic, and overall satisfaction perspectives. To test the hypotheses, this study used the Partial Least Squares (PLS) technique with a sample of managers in an important tourist destination in Spain. The results of the study confirm that the strategic benefits and the degree of outsourcing perceived by the manager are determinant factors of the quality of the outsourcing partnership. In addition, they show that closer relationships with service suppliers imply greater outsourcing performance. Finally, implications for theory and practice are discussed

The Relationship Between Strategic Orientation Dimensions and Hotel Outsourcing and Its Impact on Organizational Performance. An Application in a Tourism Destination

    No full text
The study analyzes whether the strategic orientation of the firm, measured in six dimensions, influences the level of outsourcing. It also analyzes whether outsourcing has an impact on organizational performance from financial and non-financial perspectives. To do so, an important European tourist destination is analyzed. The findings suggest that the majority of the strategic dimensions influence the hotel’s level of outsourcing. The defensiveness and proactive dimensions are positively related to the level of outsourcing, whereas the competitive analysis and competitive aggressiveness dimensions influence it negatively. In addition, the riskiness dimension has a positive influence, whereas the dimension related to futurity does not influence the level of outsourcing. A positive and significant relationship is found between outsourcing and financial performance, whereas for non-financial performance, the relationship is not significant

The S/S Genotype of the 5-HTTLPR (Serotonin-Transporter-Linked Promoter Region) Variant of the SLC6A4 Gene Decreases the Risk of Pre-Eclampsia

Pre-eclampsia (PE) is a disorder characterized by hypertension in the second trimester of pregnancy that results from abnormal placentation affecting fetal development and maternal health. Previous studies have shown the role of serotonin (5-HT) that leads to poor placental perfusion, where S/S and S/L polymorphisms promote the solute carrier family 6 member 4 (SLC6A4) gene associated with the risk of developing changes in the microvasculature of the placenta. This study looked at the association between the gene variant 5-HTTLPR (serotonin-transporter-linked promoter region) of the SLC6A4 gene and the occurrence of PE. A total of 200 women were included: 100 cases (pregnant with PE) and 100 controls (pregnant without complications). Genotyping of the 5-HTTLPR variant was performed using polymerase chain reaction (PCR). Associations between the presence of the genetic variant of interest and PE and other clinical features were evaluated statistically. The frequencies of S/S, S/L, and L/L genotypes were 32%, 53%, and 15% for the cases and 55%, 25%, and 20% in the control group. Compared to the controls, the genotype frequencies S/S vs. S/L + L/L (recessive model) in the cases group were different (p = 0.002). The S/S genotype decreased the probability of PE (OR = 0.39, 95% IC: 0.22–0.69, p = 0.002) and PE with severity criteria (OR = 0.39, 95% IC: 0.17–0.91, p = 0.045). The 5-HTTLPR gene variant of the SLC6A4 gene modifies the risk of PE development among the studied population
