The Concept of Counterculture: A Study

    Get PDF
The movement of Counter Culture marks its historical significance in America. It came as the result of post World War II. This movement brought new trend of eccentric look, loud music, consumption of drug, sexual liberation. It happened first time in the history of American culture that young generation was moved towards mental peace rather than material gain. Even India has witnessed Counter Culture movement in the fields of music, films and literature. The Beats have also played an important role to voice against the tendency of American society through art during 1950. Later in 1960 the Hippie generation followed Beats and named the movement ‘Counter Culture’. The Beats remained limited to the groups of writers where as the Hippies reached far into the society with their counter culture movement. The tone of this cultural storm was that if you want to do something than just go for it.  There are the instances where it seems that Henry David Thoreau may have inspired the counter culture movement through his Walden and Civil Disobedience

Lattice dynamics of II-VI materials using the adiabatic bond-charge model

    Get PDF
We extend the adiabatic bond-charge model, originally developed for group IV semiconductors and III-V compounds, to study phonons in more ionic II-VI compounds with a zinc-blende structure. Phonon spectra, density of states, and specific heats are calculated for six II-VI compounds and compared with both experimental data and the results of other models. We show that the six-parameter bond-charge model gives a good description of the lattice dynamics of these materials. We also discuss trends in the parameters with respect to the ionicity and metallicity of these compounds. © 1996 The American Physical Society

On Cache-Aided Multi-User Private Information Retrieval with Small Caches

In this paper, we propose a scheme for the problem of cache-aided multi-user private information retrieval with small caches, in which KK users are connected to SS non-colluding databases via shared links. Each database contains a set of NN files, and each user has a dedicated cache of size equivalent to the size of MM files. All the users want to retrieve a file without revealing their demands to the databases. During off-peak hours, all the users will fill their caches, and when required, users will demand their desired files by cooperatively generating query sets for each database. After receiving the transmissions from databases, all the users should get their desired files using transmitted data and their cache contents. This problem has been studied in [X. Zhang, K. Wan, H. Sun, M. Ji and G. Caire, \tqt{Fundamental limits of cache-aided multiuser private information retrieval}, IEEE Trans. Commun., 2021], in which authors proposed a product design scheme. In this paper, we propose a scheme that gives a better rate for a particular value of MM than the product design scheme. We consider a slightly different approach for the placement phase. Instead of a database filling the caches of all users directly, a database will broadcast cache content for all users on a shared link, and then the users will decide unitedly which part of the broadcasted content will be stored in the cache of each user. This variation facilitates maintaining the privacy constraint at a reduced rate.Comment: 32 pages, 7 tables and 1 figur

Second Quantization and Interaction of Electromagnetic Fields for Non Zero Mass System in Angular Momentum Basis : II

    Get PDF
The study of interaction and second quantization of electromagnetic fields for non-zero mass system has boon undertaken in angular momentum basis and the selection rules for omission and absorption of a massive particle are derived. Reducton of real transverse electromagnetic vector potential for non-zero mass system has been derived in terms of irreducible representations of proper, ortho-chronous, inhomogeneous Lorentz group in angular momentum basi
