    Issues of blinding of pilots of aircrafts with laser items have been discussed for some years. In many countries legal regulations stipulate arraignment for offenses of that kind. And the article put forward a problem: what are the geometric parameters (dimensions) of the region of space surrounding the aircraft in which laser products can actually pose a real threat to flight safety? The article assesses methods of determining a size of areas of possible blinding and possible eye damage of a pilot, as well as minimal risk height of the aircraft, where temporary blinding of a pilot or damage to the retina of his eyes become possible. The results of the analysis suggest conducting organizational and technical measures, enabling to reduce the laser threat to flight safety. The authors considered examples of expert assessment of «laser hooliganism» cases, recorded in the first half of 2014. A methodology to estimate a degree of a real laser hazard to flight safety described in this paper can serve as an effective tool in determining legal liability for laser hooliganism.Авторы оценивают методы определения размеров зоны вероятного ослепления и зоны вероятного поражения глаз пилота, а также минимальных опасных высот полета воздушного судна, при которых возможно временное ослепление управляющего самолетом летчика или поражение сетчатки его глаз. Результаты анализа предполагают проведение организационно-технических мероприятий, позволяющих уменьшить лазерную угрозу безопасности полетов.     The paper investigates starting-up modes of powerful asynchronous motors used at gas-compressor units which are applied for oil and gas production and transportation. Impact of motor starting-up on GRID mode for various variants of a scheme structure is considered in the paper. The paper presents investigation results taking 7 MW capacity motors as an example.     Hooliganism with the use of lasers against vehicles naturally causes legal implications in differentcountries.Laser irradiation of the driver of the vehicle, particularly the pilot of an aircraft, leading to temporary blindness, and even to a loss of visual function can have very serious consequences, fraught with the death of all the road or flight passengers.The authors analyze the legal framework of liability and penalties for laser hooliganism; offer their mathematical apparatus to the methodology of risk assessment of laser radiation referring to transport operations.Хулиганские действия с применением излучения лазерных источников против транспортных средств вызывают естественное правовое противодействие в различных странах. Облучение лазером водителя транспортного средства, в особенности пилота воздушного судна, приводящее к временному ослеплению и даже к утрате зрительных функций, может иметь крайне тяжелые последствия, чреватые гибелью всех участников движения или полета. Авторы анализируют нормативно-правовую базу ответственности и меры наказания за лазерное хулиганство, предлагают свой математический аппарат к методике оценки степени опасности лазерного излучения для условий эксплуатации транспорта

    Lytic Activity of Various Phage Cocktails on Multidrug-Resistant Bacteria

    Purpose: A bacteriophage is a virus that infects and replicates within a bacterium following the injection of phage genome into the bacterial cytoplasm. They are seen as a possible therapy for multi-drug-resistant strains of many bacteria. The aim of this study is to evaluate the lytic activity of the Pyo, Intesti and Fersisi bacteriophage cocktails on P. aeruginosa and S. aureus. Methods: Ten different S. aureus and P. aeruginosa strains, which were isolated from hospitalized patients in Turkey, were used in the study. The identification and antibiotic susceptibility of the isolates were performed using Vitec 2 system. The identities of the isolates were confirmed by a species-specific Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) assay. Lytic activity of the bacteriophage cocktails on bacteria was determined by spot test and plaque assay methods. Results: The lytic activity of the Pyo phage cocktail was evaluated on P. aeruginosa and S. aureus strains. It was found that eight isolates of MDR S. aureus were susceptible to Pyo phage cocktail and two isolates were resistant. Nine isolates of antibiotic-resistant P. aeruginosa were found to be susceptible to this phage cocktail and one isolate was resistant. Thus, the Pyo, Intesti and Fersisi cocktails are very effective in treating clinical strains of multidrug-resistant P. aeruginosa and S. aureus isolated in Turkey. Conclusion: The Pyo, Intesti and Fersisi cocktails may prove useful in the treatment of various infections caused by those bacteria
