    Exploring the Organizational Factors That Influence Creativity: A Study on Advertising Agencies of Pakistan

    Present study aims to study the factors affecting creativity in the advertisements in Pakistan. KEYS encouragement of creativity, autonomy or freedom, resources, pressures, and organizational impediments to Creativity and Innovation assessment tool was used to identify factors affecting creativity. The findings show that though the top management in advertising agencies encourage their employees to be creative by offering financial rewards and verbal encouragement, but the clients they were working for, generally do not accept creative ideas to market their brand because of unwillingness to take risks and limitations in budgets. The findings of the study will help the branding agencies and brands to work together for creating an environment that fosters creativity in their organizations which can then be reflected in the advertisements.&nbsp

    Functional outcome of crossed Kirschner wire fixation in pediatric supracondylar humerus fracture

    Background: Distal humeral fractures are one of the most common types of fractures in children, most of them being supracondylar. Supracondylar fractures are usually caused by trauma, most likely falls. It is an emergency, requiring rapid diagnosis and management to avoid serious complications. Recommended treatment modalities vary from no reduction and immobilization to open reduction and internal fixation. Kirschner wire (K-wire) fixation of displaced supracondylar fractures after closed reduction is a preferred method and is being performed for over 50 years now. This study was conducted to determine the functional outcome of crossed K-wire fixation in pediatric supracondylar fracture.Methods: This prospective study was conducted from May-November 2018 at the department of Orthopedics, Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, Karachi, Pakistan. It was inferred that functional outcome of pediatric displaced supracondylar humeral fractures is satisfactory when managed with percutaneous crossed K-wire fixation. It included 83 children with supracondylar fractures. They were treated with percutaneous crossed K-wire fixation. Patients were then followed up to determine satisfactory functional outcome according to Flynn’s criteria. Data entry and analysis was done using SPSS 21.0.Results: Eight-three patients were included. The mean±standard deviation age of this study population was 7.03±3.39 years. Out of the study participants, 47 (56.6%) were males and 36 (43.4%) were females. 71.1% of the patients were of Gartland class II fractures and 28.9% were of Gartland class III. 43.4% had an injury due to fall while playing while 19.3% had fallen from height. 80.7% were found to have a satisfactory functional outcome.Conclusions: It was inferred that the functional outcome of pediatric displaced supracondylar humeral fractures is satisfactory when managed with percutaneous crossed K-wire fixation

    Potable Water Treatment in a Batch Reactor Benefited by Combined Filtration and Catalytic Ozonation

    Due to continuous contamination of groundwater by anthropogenic activities, potable water fetches numerous pollutants such as pathogens, pharmaceuticals, and heavy metals, with these being severe health hazards. The main aim of the current study was to develop a hybrid unit based on catalytic ozonation and the filtration process to effectively remove the contaminants in drinking water. To the best of our knowledge, in the current study, the Fe-Zeolite 4A (Fe-Z4A)/O3 process followed by filtration involving rice husk and activated carbons were studied for the first time in order to treat drinking water. In the current investigation, fecal coliforms, arsenic, pharmaceuticals, turbidity, and TDS removal were investigated in a novel hybrid reactor. The results showed 100%, 45%, 40%, 70%, and 95% fecal coliform, arsenic, TDS, paracetamol, and turbidity removal efficiency, respectively. The results further indicated that all the studied drinking water samples followed WHO guidelines and NEQS for drinking water quality after the proposed treatment. Therefore, it is concluded that the proposed hybrid process implies a single unit is highly efficient for drinking water treatment. The designed novel hybrid reactor treatment can be scaled up in the future for household or commercial use

    Predicting COVID-19 Spread in Pakistan using the SIR Model

    The global pandemic of COVID-19 has raised several questions and attracted researchers from all of the disciplines of scientific research. Regardless of advances in science and technology, equipped laboratories of virology, high literacy rates, and medical resources in developed countries, several nations and their health care systems completely failed to overcome the disaster. The fast spread is caused by frequent air travel for business, tourism, education, etc. COVID-19 can infect third world countries severely. United States of America has the highest per capita spending of health still 1/3rd of the global burden of COVID-19 has consumed existing resources. The WHO has declared COVID-19 as a pandemic. More than 200 countries and territories have reported infected cases. The quarantine is the most effective way to slow the spread of disease and “Flatting of Curve” is a phenomenon to tackle the surge by health systems. To achieve good results from existing Medical Health Care Systems (MHCS), an accurate prediction for the spread of disease is crucial. This study utilizes the generalized method of SIR to accurately predict the spread of COVID-19 associated infection, recoveries, and deaths in Pakistan. The data from the National Command and Control of Pakistan (NCCP) is utilized. Through multiple cases applied on currently available data, the proposed mathematical models predict that by the end of April about more than 14553 infected and about 310 deaths are in Pakistan. The recovery rate is highest in the region up to 99.87 %
