Summarizing Strategy Card Game AI Competition

This paper concludes five years of AI competitions based on Legends of Code and Magic (LOCM), a small Collectible Card Game (CCG), designed with the goal of supporting research and algorithm development. The game was used in a number of events, including Community Contests on the CodinGame platform, and Strategy Card Game AI Competition at the IEEE Congress on Evolutionary Computation and IEEE Conference on Games. LOCM has been used in a number of publications related to areas such as game tree search algorithms, neural networks, evaluation functions, and CCG deckbuilding. We present the rules of the game, the history of organized competitions, and a listing of the participant and their approaches, as well as some general advice on organizing AI competitions for the research community. Although the COG 2022 edition was announced to be the last one, the game remains available and can be played using an online leaderboard arena

Prezentowana w artykule idea polega na wirtualnej integracji rozproszonych heterogenicznych zasobów bazodanowych w scentralizowaną, jednorodną, spójną i pozbawioną fragmentacji oraz nadmiarowości całość tworzącą wirtualne repozytorium zapewniające pewne powszechne funkcjonalności i usługi, włączając w to infrastrukturę zaufania (bezpieczeństwo, prywatność, licencjonowanie, płatności, itp.), Web Services, rozproszone transakcje, zarządzanie procesami (workflow management), itd. The presented idea aims to virtually integrate distributed heterogeneous database resources into a centralised consistent and non-fragmented and non-redundant whole creating a virtual repository. The repository provides common functionalities and services, including trust infrastructure (like security, privacy, licensing, payments), Web Services, distributed transactions, workflow management, etc. The described integration methods focus on the most popular and commonly used relational resources. Such resources become fully transparently accessible with an extremely flexible object-oriented query language. The dedicated optimisation mechanisms are a combination of object-oriented techniąues and very efficient relational optimisers

Systematizing dark personality traits within broader models of personality

Get PDF
Previous research has attempted to derive arguments for the categorization of traits as ‘dark’ without theoretical justification or rationalizations. We begin with a description of current conceptualizations of the darkness of traits followed by a new perspective on the catalogue of dark personality traits and the theoretical boundaries of different shades of darkness within the broader personality structure. Finally, we address the redundancy problem observed within the field on dark personality traits. Our analyses are offered as a guide to future research towards a more parsimonious and useful set of criteria (a “compass” of sorts) for inclusion within the “dark” cluster

Dark triads, tetrads, tents, and cores: Why navigate (research) the jungle of dark personality models without a compass (criterion)?

Get PDF
This comprehensive review summarizes and evaluates the present state of the Dark Triad research literature (or more broadly, the dark personality trait literature), and as such serves both a pedagogical purpose, by providing an introduction or primer on the dark personality literature and a scientific purpose by directing future research on key issues that still have not been sufficiently addressed. In this review, we discuss and critique current operational conceptualizations of what it means for a personality trait to be classified as ‘dark’. Also discussed is the Dark Core, as well as quantitative issues such as limitations of commonly used statistical treatments, such as multivariate analyses, bifactor modeling, and composite measures, and proposed solutions to some of these issues. Based on a comprehensive and critical appraisal of the literature, future directions are suggested to drive the dark trait field towards a more organized, parsimonious, and productive future

Immediate ventricular tachycardia after abnormal microvolt T-wave alternans

Get PDF
Microvolt T-wave alternans (MTWA) is a promising non-invasive method of evaluating repolarization abnormalities. Its presence is strongly related to the occurrence of malignant ventricular tachyarrhythmias and is therefore regarded as a risk marker for sudden cardiac death. Most recent studies have described the usefulness of MTWA in selecting patients who may benefit from a cardioverter-defibrillator. This study presents two cases of patients suffering from ischemic cardiomyopathy, who underwent an MTWA test. Episodes of ventricular tachycardia occurred immediately after the end of the tests, with abnormal results

The influence of atrioventricular and atrioventricular nodal re-entrant tachycardia on left ventricular systolic and diastolic function

Background: Incessant tachycardia may result in left ventricular (LV) systolic dysfunction. Little is known about the influence of atrioventricular tachycardia (AVRT) and atrioventricular nodal re-entrant tachycardia (AVNRT) on LV systolic and diastolic function. The aim of the study was to assess LV systolic and diastolic function and factors affecting LV systolic and diastolic performance in patients with AVRT and AVNRT. Material: The study group included 90 patients (40 male, 50 female, mean age 40 ± 12 years) with symptomatic narrow-QRS tachycardia. After an invasive electrophysiology study (EPS) had been performed, these were divided into two groups: one (AVNRT) of 25 patients with AVNRT and the other (WPW) of 65 patients with AVRT. The control group consisted of 50 healthy volunteers (23 male, 27 female, mean age 39 ± 13 years). In all three groups transthoracic echocardiography was performed in order to assess LV systolic and diastolic function. Results: LV fractional shortening (FS) (WPW: 32 ± 6%, AVNRT: 36 ± 4%, p < 0.005) and ejection fraction (EF) (WPW: 54 ± 7%, AVNRT: 55 ± 5%, p < 0.001) were significantly decreased in the study groups compared to the control group (FS: 40 ± 5%, EF: 62 ± 4%). FS was significantly increased in the AVNRT compared to the WPW patients (p < 0.005). LV diastolic dysfunction was found in 20 (80%) of the AVNRT and 55 (83%) of the WPW group and in none of the patients from the control group. A positive correlation was found between diastolic dysfunction and the scale of recurrence of AVRT (R = 0.67, p < 0.05) and AVNRT (R = 0.52, p < 0.05). Conclusions: AVNRT and AVRT may lead to development of LV systolic and diastolic dysfunction. LV diastolic dysfunction is related to the frequency of AVRT or AVNRT recurrence.
