KNOWLEDGE PROCESS MANAGEMENT AND BIM PLATFORM-BASED SOLUTION FOR THE RECONSTRUCTION OF THE GERMAN OPERA HOUSE BUILDING
This article addresses the challenge of reconstructing demolished historical buildings in digital humanities, focusing on the German Opera House Building by Louis Sullivan and Dankmar Adler and emphasizing effective information acquisition and management. Despite the benefits of digitization, knowledge management remains a persistent obstacle. The proposed multidisciplinary approach utilizes Building Information Modeling (BIM) and Common Data Environment (CDE) to seamlessly integrate data from diverse sources, supporting collaboration and ensuring result consistency. This contextualized BIM-based system transforms the reconstruction of non-existent historical buildings, overcoming challenges such as non-uniqueness of historical documents and fragmented knowledge. Results highlight the methodology's effectiveness in digitally reconstructing historical buildings and improving knowledge sharing for the examined property
Heritage visualisation and potential speculative reconstructions in digital space: The medieval church of St. Anne in Famagusta, Cyprus
none2siThis article is concerned with the 14 th century church of St. Anne’s in the historic walled city of Famagusta, Cyprus, as a site for transdisciplinary investigation embedded in, interrogated by, and disseminated via, digital space. The principal tool to create the foundational model and database of this historic structure was HBIM (Historic Building Information Modelling), beyond which further experiments were conducted in Padua and Singapore into the scholarly and pedagogical potential of VR, AR, and curated 4D interactive historic spaces. Data Structure for Cultural Heritage. Paintings from BIM to Social Media AR
This paper focuses on a process to communicate and enhance cultural heritage value. In this context, one of the main challenges is to combine its value with digital strategies and methods without losing information and increasing communication and public-private involvement. The paper proposes a methodology that uses BIM (Building Information Modeling) and CDE (Common Data Environment) concepts to build and organize information of paintings through connected databases, typically pro-duced by multiple actors. A case study in San Nicolò in Carpi verifies its application. An Instagram pro-file has been created transferring data from BIM models to Spark AR Studio to demonstrate a meth-od that creates an Augmented Reality application for cultural heritage, without the need of coding
From Historical and Theoretical Analysis of Representation and Geometry to Topology for Structural Optimization
To study Geometry and Representation from a theoretical point of view, it is certainly necessary to refer critically to the historical-anthropological climate of their genesis. This training approach allows to see and understand their evolution/impact for new approaches to the genesis of architectural/engineering artefacts, both from a configurative and structural point of view. On the other hand, if we consider the typical primitive/intuitive approaches of Representation, up to its rigorous elaborations based on a consistent knowledge of Optics and Geometry, it is possible to recognize the strong links between artistic experience, mathematical contribution and scientific elaboration. It is therefore possible to offer a broad overview of the "state of the art" relating to critical sector studies, conducted both in Italy and abroad, to underline:- how awareness in the multiple fields of Geometry is expressed in the methods and process of realization of architecture and engineering, from conception to its realization;- how Representation stands as a means between theory and construction.In this sense we focus on Topology and its genesis, as an area of Geometry that can be concretized in Structural Optimization, in order to verify the promising results that these procedures ensure in terms of reducing the use of material and design iterations, without neglecting the architectural/engineering quality, also in configurative terms. For this reason, one of the main factors in the growing popularity of this topic is the development, in computational terms, of modern computers, which allow to reliably solve complex analyzes based on FEM (Finite Element Analysis)
APPLICATION OF UAV PHOTOGRAMMETRY TECHNOLOGY IN THE PROCESS OF ARCHITECTURAL HERITAGE PRESERVATION
This paper introduces the application of UAV photogrammetry in different stages of architectural heritage protection, such as the investigation of the current situation around the architectural heritage, the acquisition of site information, and the architectural heritage revitalization design. The collected data is processed not only to provide reference data support
for cultural relics conservation projects, but also as a reference for long-term heritage monitoring in archives. With continuous development of the field of UAV technology, the working methods and ideas introduced in this paper will become an important scientific and technological protection means in the protection of architectural heritage
