Hanford Site environmental report for calendar year 1990
The Hanford Site Environmental Report is prepared annually to summarize environmental data and information, describe environmental management performance, and demonstrate the status of compliance with environmental regulations. The report also highlights major environmental programs and efforts. The following sections: describe the Hanford Site and its new mission; summarize the status in 1990 of compliance with environmental regulations; describe the environmental programs at the Hanford Site; present information on environmental surveillance and the ground-water protection and monitoring program; and discuss activities to ensure quality
A new dissimilarity measure for finding semantic structure in category fluency data with implications for understanding memory organization in schizophrenia
The ordering of words in category fluency lists is indicative of the semantic distance between
items in conceptual memory. Several studies have concluded from structural analyses of
such data, using cluster analysis or multidimensional scaling, that the semantic memory of
patients with schizophrenia is more disorganized than that of controls. Previous studies have
based their analyses on a measure of average inter-item dissimilarity devised by Chan et al.
(1993). Here we derive a new and improved method of determining dissimilarity and show
that when this measure is applied to the fluency lists of patients with schizophrenia the
average pattern of organization for the animal category has similar structure to that of
controls, but with greater variability between individuals
The Role of the International Comprehensive Ocean-Atmosphere Data Set in the Sustained Ocean Observing System
The International Comprehensive Ocean-Atmosphere Data Set (ICOADS) is an archive of in situ marine surface observations and products, which has been developed over 25 years. The current Release 2.5 spans 1662-2007 and has preliminary monthly updates for 2008 onwards. ICOADS is a worldwide respected reference dataset, combining data from multiple sustained ocean observing systems. In this paper the impact of ICOADS on associated advanced data products and research is reviewed, the improvements in data composition and coverage relative to the previous Release are illustrated, the positive influence and support from the international collaborators is described, the free and open access is recounted, and the future objectives and recommendations to the community are defined
