Huntington's disease: An immune perspective
Copyright © 2011 Annapurna Nayaketal. This article has been made available through the Brunel Open Access Publishing Fund.Huntington's disease (HD) is a progressive neurodegenerative disorder that is caused by abnormal expansion of CAG trinucleotide repeats. Neuroinflammation is a typical feature of most neurodegenerative diseases that leads to an array of pathological changes within the affected areas in the brain. The neurodegeneration in HD is also caused by aberrant immune response in the presence of aggregated mutant huntingtin protein. The effects of immune activation in HD nervous system are a relatively unexplored area of research. This paper summarises immunological features associated with development and progression of HD.U. Mercury or Mercury Free Restorations in Oral Cavity
Amalgam is basically a concoction of metals that has been used as a potent filling material in dentistry for the last 150 years. Amalgam usually consists of silver, mercury, tin and copper. Dental amalgam is a material used to fill cavities of tooth. Over the years, amalgam has become a topic of concern because it contains mercury. Mercury is a naturally occurring metal in the environment. Mercury exists as a liquid in room temperature but when heated, it becomes a gas. Flexibility of amalgam as a filling material is due Mercury. An alloy powder, a compound that is soft in nature when mixed with mercury makes it enough to mix and condense into the tooth. It hardens quickly and offers strong resistance to the forces of biting and chewing. There are studies reported on the safety of amalgam fillings. In 2005, European Union launched a comprehensive mercury strategy to reduce use of mercury. In 2008, countries like Norway and Denmark restricted the use of dental amalgam containing mercury. In 2009, this research was evaluated by U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and found no rationale to limit the use of amalgam. There are certain restorative materials that are available commercially that are mercury free in nature like Gold, Porcelain, Gallium alloys, Composite resin restoratives etc. They offer many advantages over amalgams containing mercury like: seals the dentin from future decay, reinforces remaining tooth structure, provides smooth and bonded margins, conservative and it blends naturally

Some spectral inclusions for the Taylor joint Browder spectra of D-commuting systems are estabished. The obtained results are applied in generalizing the spectral mapping theorems
Incompressible Turbulence as Nonlocal Field Theory
It is well known that incompressible turbulence is nonlocal in real space
because sound speed is infinite in incompressible fluids. The equation in
Fourier space indicates that it is nonlocal in Fourier space as well. Contrast
this with Burgers equation which is local in real space. Note that the sound
speed in Burgers equation is zero. In our presentation we will contrast these
two equations using nonlocal field theory. Energy spectrum and renormalized
parameters will be discussed.Comment: 7 pages; Talk presented in Conference on "Perspectives in Nonlinear

Local shell-to-shell energy transfer via nonlocal Interactions in fluid turbulence
In this paper we analytically compute the strength of nonlinear interactions
in a triad, and the energy exchanges between wavenumber shells in
incompressible fluid turbulence. The computation has been done using
first-order perturbative field theory. In three dimension, magnitude of triad
interactions is large for nonlocal triads, and small for local triads. However,
the shell-to-shell energy transfer rate is found to be local and forward. This
result is due to the fact that the nonlocal triads occupy much less Fourier
space volume than the local ones. The analytical results on three-dimensional
shell-to-shell energy transfer match with their numerical counterparts. In
two-dimensional turbulence, the energy transfer rates to the near-by shells are
forward, but to the distant shells are backward; the cumulative effect is an
inverse cascade of energy.Comment: 10 pages, Revtex
Energy fluxes in helical magnetohydrodynamics and dynamo action
Renormalized viscosity, renormalized resistivity, and various energy fluxes
are calculated for helical magnetohydrodynamics using perturbative field
theory. The calculation is to first-order in perturbation. Kinetic and magnetic
helicities do not affect the renormalized parameters, but they induce an
inverse cascade of magnetic energy. The sources for the the large-scale
magnetic field have been shown to be (1) energy flux from large-scale velocity
field to large-scale magnetic field arising due to nonhelical interactions, and
(2) inverse energy flux of magnetic energy caused by helical interactions.
Based on our flux results, a premitive model for galactic dynamo has been
constructed. Our calculations yields dynamo time-scale for a typical galaxy to
be of the order of years. Our field-theoretic calculations also reveal
that the flux of magnetic helicity is backward, consistent with the earlier
observations based on absolute equilibrium theory.Comment: REVTEX4; A factor of 2 corrected in helicit
Razvoj matriksnih sustava za transdermalnu isporuku pentazocina: In vitro/in vivo ispitivanje
The present study aimed to develop hydroxypropyl methylcellulose based transdermal delivery of pentazocine. In formulations containing lower proportions of polymer, the drug released followed the Higuchi kinetics while, with an increase in polymer content, it followed the zero-order release kinetics. Release exponent (n) values imply that the release of pentazocine from matrices was non-Fickian. FT-IR, DSC and XRD studies indicated no interaction between drug and polymer.
The in vitro dissolution rate constant, dissolution half-life and pharmacokinetic parameters (Cmax, tmax, AUC(s), t1/2, Kel, and MRT) were evaluated statistically by two-way ANOVA. A significant difference was observed between but not within the tested products. Statistically, a good correlation was found between per cent of drug absorbed from patches vs. Cmax, and AUC(s). A good correlation was also observed when per cent drug released was correlated with the blood drug concentration obtained at the same time point. The results of this study indicate that the polymeric matrix films of pentazocine hold potential for transdermal drug delivery.U radu je opisan razvoj transdermalnih sustava na bazi hidroksipropil metilceluloze za isporuku pentazocina.
In vitro konstanta oslobađanja, poluvrijeme oslobađanja i farmakokinetički parametri (Cmax, tmax, AUC(s), t1/2, Kel, i MRT) procijenjeni su statistički koristeći ANOVA program.
A study of feto-maternal outcome in case of premature rupture of membrane at a tertiary care center
Background: Premature rupture of membranes is the rupture of the fetal membranes in the absence of uterine contraction or before the onset of labor. When this occurs before 37 weeks of gestation, it is termed as preterm premature rupture of membranes. Management depends upon gestational age and the presence of complicating factors. An accurate assessment of gestational age and knowledge of the maternal, fetal and neonatal risks are essential to appropriate evaluation, counselling, and care of patients with PROM. The purpose of the study is timely diagnosis and appropriate management of the cases of PROM and PPROM to improve maternal and neonatal outcomes.
Methods: A Prospective study was performed at the department of obstetrics and gynecology, at a tertiary care center from August 2020 to December 2021. A clinical data sheet was made for recording all information about the pregnant women after taking their consent. And their maternal and neonatal outcomes were recorded.
Results: a total of 150 cases of PROM and PPROM were taken during our study out of which 53.33% belong to the younger age group, 43.33% were primi gravida, 66.66% belonged to the lower socioeconomic class, 25.33% had a previous history of abortion followed by dilatation and evacuation, rate of cesarean delivery was 34.66% and rate of NICU admission of neonates was 15.78% and 57.87% babies had low birth weight and rate of stillbirth was 1.97%. whereas 34.66% of cases had various complications related to PROM.
Conclusions: Individualized management of PROM cases depending on the gestational age and risk of complications and antibiotic coverage is the best way to achieve a good fetomaternal outcome
