Effects of sulfonation process on thermal behavior and microstructure of sulfonated polysulfone membranes as a material for Proton Exchange Membrane (PEM)
This paper reports the effect of sulfonation processon thermal behavior and microstrucutre of sulfonated polysulfone membrane. Various degree of sulfonation reactin has been conducted and the sulfonated membranes were characterized by thermal gravimetric analysis (TGA), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), x-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Modifications of the origin polysulfone polymer resulted in an increment value of glass transition temperature (Tg) due to the introduction of sulfonic acid group to the polymer backbone. However, due to some hindrance such as trace amount of organic solvent left during solvent evaporation and high hydrophilicity of the produced sulfonated membranes resulted in decreasing values of Tg. The polymer membrane showed lower degradation temperature as a function of degree of sulfonation. From XRD analysis, it was found that the membrane shows slight crystalline behavior after the sulfonation reaction. Detail discussions and observation of the alteration in microstructure of the sulfonated membrane were supported by SEM micrograph
Building SO- models with symmetry
Using characters of finite group representations and monodromy of matter
curves in F-GUT, we complete partial results in literature by building SO models with dihedral discrete symmetry. We first
revisit the -and -models from the discrete
group character view, then we extend the construction to .\ We
find that there are three types of models
depending on the ways the -triplets break down in terms of
irreducible - representations: as
or $\left({\beta}\right) \boldsymbol{\
1}_{_{+,+}}\oplus \boldsymbol{1}_{_{+,-}}\oplus \boldsymbol{1}_{_{-,-}};\left({\gamma}\right) \mathbf{1}_{_{+,-}}\oplus \mathbf{2}_{_{0,0}}$.
Superpotentials and other features are also given.Comment: 20 pages, Nuclear Physics B (2015
German Science Center for the Solar Dynamics Observatory
A data and computation center for helioseismology has been set up at the Max
Planck Institute for Solar System Research in Germany to prepare for the SDO
mission. Here we present the system infrastructure and the scientific aims of
this project, which is funded through grants from the German Aerospace Center
and the European Research Council
MSSM-like from Models
Using finite discrete group characters and symmetry breaking by hyperflux as
well as constraints on top- quark family, we study minimal low energy effective
theory following from SU models embedded in F-theory with non
abelian flux. Matter curves spectrum of the models is obtained from
SU theory with monodromy by performing two breakings;
first from symmetric group to subsymmetry; and next to dihedral
subgroup. As a consequence, and depending on the ways of decomposing
triplets of , we end with three types of - models. Explicit
constructions of these theories are given and a MSSM- like spectrum is derived.Comment: 48 pages, LaTe
Preparation of proton exchange membrane by radiation-induced grafting method : Grafting of styrene onto poly(ethylene tetrafluoroethylene) copolymer films
Radiation induced grafting of styrene onto poly(ethylene-tetrafluoroethylene) (ETFE) copolymer film was carried out to prepare graft copolymer (ETFE-g-polystyrene) that can host sulfonic acid groups and form proton exchange membrane for polymer electrolyte fuel cell (PEFC). The effect of monomer concentration and type of solvent on the degree of grafting was investigated. The formation of graft copolymer film was confirmed by FTIR spectrum analysis
D-string fluid in conifold: II. Matrix model for D-droplets on S^{3} and S^{2}
Motivated by similarities between Fractional Quantum Hall (FQH) systems and
aspects of topological string theory on conifold, we continue in the present
paper our previous study (hep-th/0604001, hep-th/0601020) concerning FQH
droplets on conifold. Here we focus our attention on the conifold sub-varieties
\textbf{\}and\textbf{\} and study the non
commutative quantum dynamics of D1 branes wrapped on a circle. We give a matrix
model proposal for FQH droplets of point like particles on
\textbf{\}and\textbf{\} with filling fraction
. We show that the ground state of droplets on carries an isospin and gives remarkably
rise to droplets on with Cartan-Weyl charge .Comment: 25 pages, one figur
