Production and detection of doubly charmed tetraquarks

The feasibility of tetraquark detection is studied. For the cc\bar{u}\bar{d} tetraquark we show that in present (SELEX, Tevatron, RHIC) and future facilities (LHCb, ALICE) the production rate is promising and we propose some detectable decay channels.Comment: 6 pages, 5 figure

    Exlusive charmed meson pair production

The experimental data of BELLE Collaboration on the exclusive charmed meson pair production in the process of monophotonic e+ee^+e^--annihilation (e+eγDDˉe^+e^-\to \gamma^* \to D\bar D) has been studied. It has been shown that these data is described satisfactorily in the frame work of constituent quark model. Our studies have demonstrated that the central production process e+ee+eγγe+eDDˉ+Xe^+e^-\to e^+e^-\gamma\gamma \to e^+e^-D\bar D +X and the process of monophotonic e+ee^+e^--annihilation yield comparable numbers of the charmed meson pairs.Comment: 15 pages, 7 figures, RevTeX

Fully supersymmetric CP violations in the kaon system

    Get PDF
We show that, on the contrary to the usual claims, fully supersymmetric CP violations in the kaon system are possible through the gluino mediated flavor changing interactions. Both ϵK\epsilon_K and Re(ϵ/ϵK){\rm Re} (\epsilon' / \epsilon_K) can be accommodated for relatively large tanβ\tan\beta without any fine tunings or contradictions to the FCNC and EDM constraints.Comment: Contribution to the Proceedings of ICHEP2000, Osaka, 200

U(1) spin liquids and valence bond solids in a large-N three-dimensional Heisenberg model

We study possible quantum ground states of the Sp(N) generalized Heisenberg model on a cubic lattice with nearest-neighbor and next-nearest-neighbor exchange interactions. The phase diagram is obtained in the large-N limit and fluctuation effects are considered via appropriate gauge theories. In particular, we find three U(1) spin liquid phases with different short-range magnetic correlations. These phases are characterized by deconfined gapped spinons, gapped monopoles, and gapless ``photons''. As N becomes smaller, a confinement transition from these phases to valence bond solids (VBS) may occur. This transition is studied by using duality and analyzing the resulting theory of monopoles coupled to a non-compact dual gauge field; the condensation of the monopoles leads to VBS phases. We determine the resulting VBS phases emerging from two of the three spin liquid states. On the other hand, the spin liquid state near J_1 \approx J_2 appears to be more stable against monopole condensation and could be a promising candidate for a spin liquid state in real systems.Comment: revtex file 12 pages, 17 figure

Color-octet mechanism and J/psi polarization at LEP

Polarized heavy quarkonium productions in Z0Z^0 decays are considered. We find that polarizations of the produced quarkonia are independent of that of the parent Z^0 provided that one considers the energy distribution or the total production rate. Produced J/psi's via the color-octet and the color- singlet mechanisms are expected to be 19% and 29% longitudinally polarized, respectively. The energy dependence of eta_{1,8}(x)=\frac{dGamma_{1,8}^L}{dx} /\frac{dGamma_{1,8}}{d x} is very sensitive to the production mechanism, and therefore the measurement of \eta(x)_exp will be an independent probe of the color-octet mechanism.Comment: 15 pages, minor changes, version to be published in Phys. Two-loop Barr-Zee type Contributions to (g2)μ(g-2)_\mu in the MSSM

We consider the contribution of a two-loop Barr-Zee type diagram to (g2)μ(g-2)_\mu in the minimal supersymmetric standard model (MSSM). At relatively large tanβ\tan\beta, we show that the contribution of light third generation scalar fermions and neutral CP-even Higgs, h0(H0)h^0(H^0), can easily explain the very recent BNL experimental data. In our analysis (g2)μ(g-2)_\mu prefers negative AfA_{f} and positive μ\mu. It is more sensitive to the chirality flipping h^0(H^0)\wt{f}_R^*\wt{f}_L rather than chirality conserving couplings.Comment: 10 pages, 5 figures, references adde

Supersymmetric Effects on Isospin Symmetry Breaking and Direct CP Violation in BργB \to \rho \gamma

We argue that one can search for physics beyond the standard model through measurements of the isospin-violating quantity Δ0Γ(Bργ)/2Γ(B0ρ0γ)1\Delta^{-0} \equiv \Gamma(B^- \to \rho^- \gamma)/2\Gamma(B^0 \to \rho^0 \gamma)-1, its charge conjugate Δ+0\Delta^{+0}, and direct CP violation in the partial decay rates of B±ρ±γB^\pm \to \rho^\pm \gamma. We illustrate this by working out theoretical profiles of the charge-conjugate averaged ratio Δ12(Δ+0+Δ0)\Delta \equiv {1 \over 2}(\Delta^{+0} +\Delta^{-0}) and the CP asymmetry ACP(B±ρ±γ)A_{CP}(B^\pm \to \rho^\pm \gamma) in the standard model and in some variants of the minimal supersymmetric standard model. We find that chargino contributions in the large tanβ\tan \beta region may modify the magnitudes and flip the signs of Δ\Delta and ACP(B±ρ±γ)A_{CP}(B^\pm \to \rho^\pm \gamma) compared to their standard-model values, providing an unmistakeable signature of supersymmetry.Comment: 10 pages, 7 figures (requires graphicx

    B --> Phi K_S and Supersymmetry

The rare decay B --> Phi K_S is a well-known probe of physics beyond the Standard Model because it arises only through loop effects yet has the same time-dependent CP asymmetry as B --> Psi K_S. Motivated by recent data suggesting new physics in B --> Phi K_S, we look to supersymmetry for possible explanations, including contributions mediated by gluino loops and by Higgs bosons. Chirality-preserving LL and RR gluino contributions are generically small, unless gluinos and squarks masses are close to the current lower bounds. Higgs contributions are also too small to explain a large asymmetry if we impose the current upper limit on B(B_s --> mu mu). On the other hand, chirality-flipping LR and RL gluino contributions can provide sizable effects and while remaining consistent with related results in B --> Psi K_S, Delta M_s, B --> X_s gamma and other processes. We discuss how the LR and RL insertions can be distinguished using other observables, and we provide a string-based model and other estimates to show that the needed sizes of mass insertions are reasonable.Comment: 33 pages, 32 figures, Updated version for PRD.
