In-plane gate single-electron transistor in Ga[Al]As fabricated by scanning probe lithography
A single-electron transistor has been realized in a Ga[Al]As heterostructure
by oxidizing lines in the GaAs cap layer with an atomic force microscope. The
oxide lines define the boundaries of the quantum dot, the in-plane gate
electrodes, and the contacts of the dot to source and drain. Both the number of
electrons in the dot as well as its coupling to the leads can be tuned with an
additional, homogeneous top gate electrode. Pronounced Coulomb blockade
oscillations are observed as a function of voltages applied to different gates.
We find that, for positive top-gate voltages, the lithographic pattern is
transferred with high accuracy to the electron gas. Furthermore, the dot shape
does not change significantly when in-plane voltages are tuned.Comment: 4 pages, 3 figure
Improved Pseudofermion Approach for All-Point Propagators
Quark propagators with arbitrary sources and sinks can be obtained more
efficiently using a pseudofermion method with a mode-shifted action.
Mode-shifting solves the problem of critical slowing down (for light quarks)
induced by low eigenmodes of the Dirac operator. The method allows the full
physical content of every gauge configuration to be extracted, and should be
especially helpful for unquenched QCD calculations. The method can be applied
for all the conventional quark actions: Wilson, Sheikoleslami-Wohlert,
Kogut-Susskind, as well as Ginsparg-Wilson compliant overlap actions. The
statistical properties of the method are examined and examples of physical

Results of a search for 2-decay of Xe with high-pressure copper proportional counters in Baksan Neutrino Observatory
The experiment for the 2-decay of Xe search with two
high-pressure copper proportional counters has been held in Baksan neutrino
observatory. The search for the process is based on comparison of spectra
measured with natural and enriched xenon. No evidence has been found for
2(2)- and 2(0)-decay. The decay half lifetime limit
based on data measured during 8000 h is Tyr for

Anomalous Scale Dimensions from Timelike Braiding
Using the previously gained insight about the particle/field relation in
conformal quantum field theories which required interactions to be related to
the existence of particle-like states associated with fields of anomalous
scaling dimensions, we set out to construct a classification theory for the
spectra of anomalous dimensions. Starting from the old observations on
conformal superselection sectors related to the anomalous dimensions via the
phases which appear in the spectral decomposition of the center of the
conformal covering group we explore the possibility
of a timelike braiding structure consistent with the timelike ordering which
refines and explains the central decomposition. We regard this as a preparatory
step in a new construction attempt of interacting conformal quantum field
theories in D=4 spacetime dimensions. Other ideas of constructions based on the
- or the perturbative SYM approach in their relation to the

Vector Correlators in Lattice QCD: methods and applications
We discuss the calculation of the leading hadronic vacuum polarization in
lattice QCD. Exploiting the excellent quality of the compiled experimental data
for the e^+e^- --> hadrons cross-section, we predict the outcome of
large-volume lattice calculations at the physical pion mass, and design
computational strategies for the lattice to have an impact on important
phenomenological quantities such as the leading hadronic contribution to
(g-2)mu and the running of the electromagnetic coupling constant. First, the
R(s) ratio can be calculated directly on the lattice in the threshold region,
and we provide the formulae to do so with twisted boundary conditions. Second,
the current correlator projected onto zero spatial momentum, in a Euclidean
time interval where it can be calculated accurately, provides a potentially
critical test of the experimental R(s) ratio in the region that is most
relevant for (g-2)mu. This observation can also be turned around: the vector
correlator at intermediate distances can be used to determine the lattice
spacing in fm, and we make a concrete proposal in this direction. Finally, we
quantify the finite-size effects on the current correlator coming from
low-energy two-pion states and provide a general parametrization of the vacuum

Limits on the Majorana neutrino mass in the 0.1 eV range
The Heidelberg-Moscow experiment gives the most stringent limit on the
Majorana neutrino mass. After 24 kg yr of data with pulse shape measurements,
we set a lower limit on the half-life of the neutrinoless double beta decay in
76Ge of T_1/2 > 5.7 * 10^{25} yr at 90% C.L., thus excluding an effective
Majorana neutrino mass greater than 0.2 eV. This allows to set strong

A Prospective Pilot Study to Identify a Myocarditis Cohort who may Safely Resume Sports Activities 3Â Months after Diagnosis
International cardiovascular society recommendations to return to sports activities following acute myocarditis are based on expert consensus in the absence of prospective studies. We prospectively enrolled 30 patients with newly diagnosed myocarditis based on clinical parameters, laboratory measurements and cardiac magnetic resonance imaging with mildly reduced or pre served left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) with a follow-up of 12 months. Cessation of physical activity was recommended for 3 months. The average age was 35 (19–80) years with 73% male patients. One case of non-sustained ventricular tachycardia was recorded during 48-h-Holter electrocardiogram. Except for this case, all patients were allowed to resume physical exercise after 3 months. At 6- (n = 26) and 12-month (n = 19) follow-up neither cardiac events nor worsening LVEF were recorded. The
risk of cardiac events at 1 year after diagnosis of myocarditis appears to be low after resumption of exercise after 3 months among patients who recover from acute myocarditis
