Investigations of the pi N total cross sections at high energies using new FESR: log nu or (log nu)^2
We propose to use rich informations on pi p total cross sections below N= 10
GeV in addition to high-energy data in order to discriminate whether these
cross sections increase like log nu or (log nu)^2 at high energies, since it is
difficult to discriminate between asymptotic log nu and (log nu)^2 fits from
high-energy data alone. A finite-energy sum rule (FESR) which is derived in the
spirit of the P' sum rule as well as the n=1 moment FESR have been required to
constrain the high-energy parameters. We then searched for the best fit of pi p
total cross sections above 70 GeV in terms of high-energy parameters
constrained by these two FESR. We can show from this analysis that the (log
nu)^2 behaviours is preferred to the log nu behaviours.Comment: to be published in Phys. Rev. D 5 pages, 2 eps figure
Quark model predictions for photoproduction on the proton
The photoproduction of vector mesons is investigated in a quark model
with an effective Lagrangian. Including both baryon resonance excitations and
{\it t}-channel exchanges, observables for the reactions and are predicted, using the

The Kaon-Photoproduction Of Nucleons In The Quark Model
In this paper, we develop a general framework to study the
meson-photoproductions of nucleons in the chiral quark model. The S and U
channel resonance contributions are expressed in terms of the
Chew-Goldberger-Low-Nambu (CGLN) amplitudes. The kaon-photoproduction
processes, , , and , are calculated. The initial results show that the quark
model provides a much improved description of the reaction mechanism for the
kaon-photoproductions of the nucleon with less parameters than the traditional

An Unified Approach To Pseudo Scalar Meson Photoproductions Off Nucleons In The Quark Model
An unified approach to the pseudo scalar meson (, and )
photoproduction off nucleons are presented. It begins with the low energy QCD
Lagrangian, and the resonances in the s- and u- channels are treated in the
framework of the quark model
The duality hypothesis is imposed to limit the number of the t-channel
exchanges. The CGLN amplitudes for each reaction are evaluated, which include
both proton and neutron targets. The important role by the S-wave resonances in
the second resonance region is discussed, it is particularly important for the

Vector Meson Photoproduction with an Effective Lagrangian in the Quark Model
A quark model approach to the photoproduction of vector mesons off nucleons
is proposed. Its starting point is an effective Lagrangian of the interaction
between the vector meson and the quarks inside the baryon, which generates the
non-diffractive s- and u- channel resonance contributions. Additional t-channel
and exchanges are included for the and
production respectively to account for the large diffractive behavior in the
small region as suggested by Friman and Soyeur. The numerical results are
presented for the and productions in four isospin channels with
the same set of parameters, and they are in good agreement with the available
data not only in and productions but also in the charged
productions where the additional t-channel exchange does not
contribute so that it provides an important test to this approach. The
investigation is also extended to the photoproduction, and the initial
results show that the non-diffractive behavior of the productions in the
large region can be described by the s- and u- channel contributions with
significantly smaller coupling constants, which is consistent with the findings
in the similar studies in the QHD framework. The numerical investigation has
also shown that polarization observables are essential for identifying

Some Remarks on Theories with Large Compact Dimensions and TeV-Scale Quantum Gravity
We comment on some implications of theories with large compactification radii
and TeV-scale quantum gravity. These include the behavior of high-energy
gravitational scattering cross sections and consequences for ultra-high-energy
cosmic rays and neutrino scattering, the question of how to generate naturally
light neutrino masses, the issue of quark-lepton unification, the equivalence
principle, and the cosmological constant.Comment: 28 pages, Late
Regge-cascade hadronization
We argue that the evolution of coloured partons into colour-singlet hadrons
has approximate factorization into an extended parton-shower phase and a
colour-singlet resonance--pole phase. The amplitude for the conversion of
colour connected partons into hadrons necessarily resembles Regge-pole
amplitudes since qq-bar resonance amplitudes and Regge-pole amplitudes are
related by duality. A `Regge-cascade' factorization property of the N-point
Veneziano amplitude provides further justification of this protocol. This
latter factorization property, in turn, allows the construction of general
multi-hadron amplitudes in amplitude-squared factorized form from (1->2) link
amplitudes. We suggest an algorithm with cascade-decay configuration, ordered
in the transverse momentum, suitable for Monte-Carlo simulation. We make a
simple implementation of this procedure in Herwig++, obtaining some improvement
to the description of the event-shape distributions at LEP.Comment: 10 pages, 9 figure
Local Duality Predictions for x ~ 1 Structure Functions
Recent data on the proton F_2 structure function in the resonance region
suggest that local quark-hadron duality works remarkably well for each of the
low-lying resonances, including the elastic, to rather low values of Q^2. We
derive model-independent relations between structure functions at x ~ 1 and
elastic electromagnetic form factors, and predict the x -> 1 behavior of
nucleon polarization asymmetries and the neutron to proton structure function

Experience rather than training plays a vital role with long-term service relationships built up and maintained. Emotional sensitivity is acquired partly by experience and a repeat customer base but mainly through a genuine desire to help and get to know others. In contrast to the view of emotional labour bringing managerial control or adverse affects to service staff, the emotion engendered by this work is authentic expression bringing personal satisfaction
