Supporting Students' Reasoning About Multiplication of Fractions by Constructing an Array Model

The aim of the research is to support students in constructing an array model as a bridge from their informal knowledge to the formal one in understanding the part-whole relation concept. The part-whole relation concept is important for students to reason about multiplication of fractions. Realistic Mathematics Education which is in Indonesia adapted as Pendidikan Matematika Realistik Indonesia (PMRI) is used as an approach in designing a series of lessons. For this purpose, hypothetical learning trajectory (HLT) became the base for conducting a teaching experiment and designing its learning materials. The research was conducted in the fifth grade of SD Al Hikmah Surabaya, an elementary school in Indonesia, with five students as the participants. The collected data were qualitative data in the form of students' written works and the transcript of video recording during the lesson. The data were analyzed retrospectively by confronting the conjecture of students' thinking in the HLT with the fact in the teaching experiment. The result of the research shows that most students could use the contextual problem in promoting their ability on constructing their own array model to reason about part-whole relation

Bogor Tourism Information Center

Bogor memiliki banyak potensi pariwisata yang tersebar di seluruh daerah. Banyak daerah yang menjadi kawasan wisata di Kota Bogor, seperti prasasti, lansekap, bangunan bersejarah, dan kuliner. Diperlukan sebuah rancangan yang bisa memunculkan potensi-potensi wisata yang ada di Bogor sehingga wistawan dapat meminati seluruh objek wisata dan pada akhirnya dapat menegmbangkan kepariwisataan Bogor. Tourism Information Center merupakan salah satu cara untuk memperkenalkan potensi suatu daerah kepada wisatawan, tetapi tourism information center biasanya menjadi tempat yang kurang menarik sehingga wisatawan enggan untuk datang. Perancangan tourism information center dengan inovasi yang baru membuat rancangan lebih diminati oleh wisatawan. Tourism information center yang menyajikan informasi dalam media 3 dimensi dan juga media digital. Media ini membuat interaksi antara informasi dengan pengunjung yang datan

Pengaruh Agen Sosialisasi terhadap Pola Pencarian Pengobatan Mahasiswa Rumpun Fakultas Non-eksakta Universitas Sumatera Utara di Kota Medan Tahun 2013

Health development aims to increase awareness, willingness and ability of each person to realize the degree of public health as high. Socialization is the process through which a child learns to be a participating member of society. Through this learning process one can take decisions in determining the searching pattern of medical treatment through family, playmate, school , and mass media, but schools are not included in this research due to non-exact student do not learn about health . This research was conducted to determine the influence of socialization agents on the searching pattern of medical treatment on clumps student non-exact faculty of University of Sumatera Utara in Medan in 2013. This research is using quantitative research methods. The data was collected through direct interviews with respondents. The population of this research were all student of non-exact faculty year 2010-2012 of University of Sumatera Utara by 10.784 people, and the sample size were 95 people taken with Proportional Random Sampling methods. The results showed male respondents (46.3%), female (53,7%), age 18 (14,7%), age 19 (18,9%), age 20 (30,5%), age 21 (26,3%), age 22 (9,5%), Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (29,5%), School of Law (20,0%), Faculty of Humanities (17,9%), Faculty of economics (32,6%). Statistical test of bivariate analysis showed that family were not related with students searching pattern of medical treatment (p=0,099>0,05), playmate were related with students searching pattern of medical treatment (p=0,01<0,05), mass media were not related with students searching pattern of medical treatment (p=0,420>0,05). Statistical test of multivariat showed that family were not influence students searching pattern of medical treatment (p=0,105>0,05), playmate were influence students searching pattern of medical treatment (p=0,01<0,05) . Students of non-exact faculty of University of Sumatera Utara needs to improve the search of information about searching pattern of medical treatment for himself and to influence his friends as an agents of socialization. University of Sumatera Utara also need to provide information about searching pattern of medical treatment for students

Pengaruh Konsentrasi Asam Klorida (Hcl) Terhadap Mutu Alginat Rumput Laut Coklat Sargassum SP. Dari Perairan Teluk Awur Kab. Jepara Dan Poktunggal Kab. Gunungkidul

Rumput laut merupakan sumber daya hayati laut yang potensial digunakan dalam industri pangan dan non pangan, salah satu jenisnya ialah Sargassum sp. yang ditemukan melimpah hampir di seluruh perairan Indonesia dan telah dimanfaatkan berupa alginat yang dalam industri digunakan sebagai pengental, pensuspensi, penstabil, pembentuk film, pembentuk gel, dan bahan pengemulsi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh konsentrasi HCl terhadap kualitas Natrium alginat rumput laut coklat Sargassum sp. yang diambil dari Perairan Teluk Awur, Jepara dan perairan Poktunggal, Gunungkidul yang meliputi rendemen, viskositas, kadar air dan kadar abu. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode eksperimental laboratorium dengan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL). Sampel diekstraksi dengan perlakuan perbedaan konsentrasi HCl 3%, 5%, 7% dan 9% saat pembentukan asam alginat masing-masing dengan 3 ulangan. Hubungan antara konsentrasi HCl dan kualitas natrium alginat menunjukan model regresi linier positif untuk rendemen natrium alginat, model regresi polinomial positif untuk viskositas, regresi linier positif dan negatif pada kadar air, lalu regresi polinomial negatif pada kadar abu. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan rendemen natrium alginat tertinggi dihasilkan pada konsentrasi HCl 9% yaitu sebesar 15,41 ± 2,17% untuk perairan Teluk Awur dan 14,44 ± 2,94% untuk perairan Poktunggal. Viskositas tertinggi dihasilkan pada konsentrasi HCl 5% yaitu sebesar 10,33 ± 1,52 cPs untuk perairan Teluk Awur dan 12,65 ± 1,48 cPs untuk perairan Poktungga

Refusal Strategies in the Movie the Walking Dead

This research discussed refusal strategies used by the characters in the movie The Walking Dead in season 9 featuring 16 episodes. This research aimed to find out type of refusal strategies and the mostly used by the characters in the movie. This research focused on Beebe, Takahashi and Uliss-Weltz's theory about direct and indirect refusal. Then, the data were analyzed by using qualitative descriptive method. To get the data, it used subtitle itself on the movie by watching all of episodes to find out valid data. The research results show that there are 35 data. There were 18 direct refusal, 13 indirect refusal and four data that used two strategies in one conversation. Therefore, the mostly used is direct refusal, 18 times. Direct refusal used non-performative statement and negative willingness while indirect refusal used as giving reason, explanation, attempt to dissuade interlocutor, statement of regret, avoidance (verbal and non-verbal), unspecific reply, and adjuncts to refusal that is appreciation

Perancangan Alat Pembelah Bambu

Kemiri Village has various kinds of livelihoods, one of which is a craftsman of besek weaving. Until now, besek craftsmen have only used traditional tools to split bambu into thinner strands. This takes a lot of time and effort in the process. Therefore it is necessary to innovate the bamboo splitting process by making a bambu splitting device for the bamboo splitting to run quickly so that the productivity of the besek woven craftsman can increase. The method of implementation consists of three stages used, the first stage is the design stage of the tool, the second stage is the stage of selecting materials and the last stage is the stage of making tools. Based on the simulation results of this bamboo splitter, the result is that this tool can split bambu into 8 thin bamboo section
