The theory of general instability of cylindrical shells
Using a new approach to the theoretical study of thin-walled cylinders with discrete reinforcing members developed in the paper, the problem of general instability of such structures is solved with more than usual generality. Continues
Aileron reversal and divergence of swept wings with special consideration of the relevant aerodynamic and elastic characteristics
Using oblique coordinates, the static problems of Aero-elasticity for swept wings are reduced to the solution of integral – or matrix equations, which may be solved by iteration. The present treatment also indicates the suitability of integral equations for fundamental aero-elastic investigations. Continues
Dynamic aeroelasticity of aircraft with swept wings
Using oblique coordinates, integro-differential equations of motion of aircraft with swept wings are deduced from Hamilton’s Principle for the dynamic problems of aero-elasticity, i.e. for the problems of free vibrations, flutter, dynamic stability and gust loads
Vibrations of a swept box
The equation of motion of a uniform swept box with stringers and ribs are deduced. For the case of vibrations of a cantilever they are transformed into integrated equations, an approximate method of solution of which is indicated
