Theoretical de Haas-van Alphen Data and Plasma Frequencies of MgB2 and TaB2
The de Haas-van Alphen-frequencies as well as the effective masses for a
magnetic field parallel to the crystallographic c-axis are calculated within
the local spin density approximation (LSDA) for MgB2 and TaB2. In addition, we
analyze the plasma frequencies computed for each Fermi surface sheet. We find a
large anisotropy of Fermi velocities in MgB2 in difference to the nearly
isotropic behavior in TaB2. We compare calculations performed within the
relativistic non-full potential augmented-spherical-wave (ASW) scheme and the
scalar-relativistic full potential local orbital (FPLO) scheme. A significant
dependence for small cross sections on the bandstructure method is found. The
comparison with the first available experimental de Haas-van Alphen-data by
Yelland et al. (Ref. 19) shows deviations from the electronic structure
calculated within both L(S)DA approaches although the cross section predicted
by FPLO are closer to the experimental data. The elucidation of the relevant
many-body effects beyond the standard LDA is considered as a possible key

Charmed Baryons with
The width of a recently discovered excited charmed-strange baryon, a
candidate for a state with spin 3/2, is calculated. In the absence of
configuration mixing between the ground-state (spin-1/2) charmed-strange baryon
and the spin-1/2 state lying about 95 MeV above it,
one finds and , where the tilde denotes the partial
width with kinematic factors removed. Assuming a kinematic factor for P-wave
decay of , one predicts MeV, while the channel is closed. Some
suggestions are given for detecting the , the spin-3/2 charmed
nonstrange baryon, and the , the spin-3/2 charmed doubly-strange

Forward-Backward Asymmetries in Hadronically Produced Lepton Pairs
It has now become possible to observe appreciable numbers of hadronically
produced lepton pairs in mass ranges where the contributions of the photon and
are comparable. Consequently, in the reaction , substantial forward-backward asymmetries can be seen. These
asymmetries provide a test of the electroweak theory in a new regime of
energies, and can serve as diagnostics for any new neutral vector bosons

Meson Decay Constants from Isospin Mass Splittings in the Quark Model
Decay constants of and mesons are estimated within the framework of a
heavy-quark approach using measured isospin mass splittings in the , ,
and states to isolate the electromagnetic hyperfine interaction between
quarks. The values MeV and MeV are
obtained. Only experimental errors are given; possible theoretical ambiguities,

Solving the Cooling Flow Problem of Galaxy Clusters by Dark Matter Neutralino Annihilation
Recent X-ray observations revealed that strong cooling flow of intracluster
gas is not present in galaxy clusters, even though predicted theoretically if
there is no additional heating source. I show that relativistic particles
produced by dark matter neutralino annihilation in cluster cores provide a
sufficient heating source to suppress the cooling flow, under reasonable
astrophysical circumstances including adiabatic growth of central density
profile, with appropriate particle physics parameters for dark matter
neutralinos. In contrast to other astrophysical heat sources such as AGNs, this
process is a steady and stable feedback over cosmological time scales after

Superconductivity in SrFe_(2-x)Co_xAs_2: Internal Doping of the Iron Arsenide Layers
In the electron doped compounds SrFe_(2-x)Co_xAs_2 superconductivity with T_c
up to 20 K is observed for 0.2 < x < 0.4. Results of structure determination,
magnetic susceptibility, electrical resistivity, and specific heat are
reported. The observation of bulk superconductivity in all thermodynamic
properties -- despite strong disorder in the Fe-As layer -- favors an itinerant
picture in contrast to the cuprates and renders a p- or d-wave scenario
unlikely. DFT calculations find that the substitution of Fe by Co (x > 0.3)
leads to the suppression of the magnetic ordering present in SrFe_2As_2 due to
a rigid down-shift of the Fe-3d_(x^2-y^2) related band edge in the density of
