Gravitating tensor monopole in a Lorentz-violating field theory
We present a solution of the coupled Einstein and rank-two antisymmetric
tensor field equations where Lorentz symmetry is spontaneously broken, and we
discuss its observational signatures. Especially, the deflection angles have
important qualitative differences between tensor and scalar monopoles. If a
monopole were to be detected, it would be discriminated whether or not to
correspond to a tensor one. This phenomenon might open up new direction in the
search of Lorentz violation with future astrophysical observations.Comment: 5 pages, 4 figure
Modeling and Analysis of an Air-Breathing Flexible Hypersonic Vehicle
By using light-weighted material in hypersonic vehicle, the vehicle body can be easily deformed. The mutual couplings in aerodynamics, flexible structure, and propulsion system will bring great challenges for vehicle modeling. In this work, engineering estimated method is used to calculate the aerodynamic forces, moments, and flexible modes to get the physics-based model of an air-breathing flexible hypersonic vehicle. The model, which contains flexible effects and viscous effects, can capture the physical characteristics of high-speed flight. To overcome the analytical intractability of the model, a simplified control-oriented model of the hypersonic vehicle is presented with curve fitting approximations. The control-oriented model can not only reduce the complexity of the model, but also retain aero-flexible structure-propulsion interactions of the physics-based model and can be applied for nonlinear control
A Two-Dimensional CA Traffic Model with Dynamic Route Choices Between Residence and Workplace
The Biham, Middleton and Levine (BML) model is extended to describe dynamic
route choices between the residence and workplace in cities. The traffic
dynamic in the city with a single workplace is studied from the velocity
diagram, arrival time probability distribution, destination arrival rate and
convergence time. The city with double workplaces is also investigated to
compared with a single workplace within the framework of four modes of urban
growth. The transitional region is found in the velocity diagrams where the
system undergoes a continuous transition from a moving phase to a completely
jamming phase. We perform a finite-size scaling analysis of the critical
density from a statistical point of view and the order parameter of this
jamming transition is estimated. It is also found that statistical properties
of urban traffic are greatly influenced by the urban area, workplace area and
urban layout.Comment: 18 pages, 13 figure
Characterization of the Antheraea pernyi abnormal wing disc gene that may contribute to its temperature tolerance
It has been known that the abnormal wing disc (awd) gene encodes a nucleoside diphosphate kinase and is closely related to wing development in Drosophila melanogaster and Bombyx mori. In the present study, the awd gene was isolated and characterized from Antheraea pernyi, a well-known wild silkmoth. The isolated cDNA sequence is 666 bp in length with an open reading frame of 462 bp encoding a polypeptide of 153 amino acids, which contains a putative nucleoside diphosphate kinases active site motif and conserved multimer interface. The deduced A. pernyi awd protein sequence reveals 75, 82 and 96% identity with its homologue of Homo sapiens, D. melanogaster, and B. mori, respectively. Semi-quantitative reverse transcriptase-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) analysis showed that the awd gene was transcribed during all four developmental stages (egg, larva, pupa, and moth), and present in all tissues tested (blood, midgut, silk glands, Malpighian tublues, spermaries, ovaries, brain, muscle, fat body and body wall), with the highest abundance in Malpighian tubules. Interestingly, mRNA expression level in pupal fat body was significantly down-regulated after cold shock (4°C) compared with the control (26°C) and significantly up-regulated after heat shock (46°C). The results indicated that the A. pernyi awd gene is inducible, and that its expression effect is different after cold stress and heat stress. Consequently, we refer that the product of the awd gene may contribute to its temperature tolerance.Key words: Antheraea pernyi, abnormal wing disc gene, cloning, expression pattern, temperature stress
Non-Gaussianity in the warm k-inflation
This paper presents and investigates non-Gaussian perturbations for the warm
k-inflation model that is driven by pure kinetic energy. The two complementary
components of the overall non-Gaussianity are the three-point and four-point
correlations. The intrinsic non-Gaussian component, denoted as the nonlinear
parameter f_{NL}^{int}, is rooted in the three-point correlation for the
inflaton field. Meanwhile, the \delta N part non-Gaussianity, denoted as
f_{NL}^{\delta N}, is the contribution attributed to the four-point correlation
function of the inflaton field. In this paper, the above two components in warm
k-inflation are individually computed and analyzed. Then, comparisons and
discussions between them are conducted, and the non-Gaussian theoretical
results are compared with experimental observations to determine the range of
model parameters within the allowable range of observation
Pročišćavanje i karakterizacija antioksidativnoga peptida iz hidrolizata proteina suncokreta
Sunflower proteins were hydrolyzed with Flavourzyme for the production of antioxidant peptide. DEAE-Sepharose Fast Flow, Sephadex G-25 gel filtration chromatography and reversed-phase HPLC were consecutively employed to purify a novel sunflower antioxidant peptide, and the ability to inhibit the autoxidation of pyrogallol was expressed as the antioxidative activity of the peptide. The amino acid sequence was identified as Ala-Cys-Ala-His-Asp-Lys-Val by a Q-Tof2 mass spectrometer. This novel peptide exhibited a high antioxidative activity of 79.42 U/mL, which is expected to protect against oxidative damage in living systems in relation to aging and carcinogenesis. Higher antioxidative activities were presumed mainly due to the presence of hydrophobic amino acids in its sequence.
