Superhydrophobicity, Microwave Absorbing Property of NiFe 2

    Get PDF
Magnetic NiFe2O4 nanoparticles were successfully deposited on the wood surface via a hydrothermal process at 70°C. The surface of the as-prepared magnetic NiFe2O4/wood hybrids (MWHs) was covered by spherical-like NiFe2O4 particles with an average size of 50 nm. MWH exhibited the thermostability, microwave absorbability, and superparamagnetism with saturation magnetization (Ms) of 1.79 emu·g−1. With further modification by 1H,1H,2H,2H-perfluorodecyltrimethoxysilane (FAS-17), MWH expressed superhydrophobic performances with a water contact angle of 158°. Its superparamagnetism stably remained under harsh conditions after chemical solutions corrosion and physical frozen test

One-Step Preparation of Graphene Oxide/Cellulose Nanofibril Hybrid Aerogel for Adsorptive Removal of Four Kinds of Antibiotics

Via a one-step ultrasonication method, cellulose nanofibril/graphene oxide hybrid (GO-CNF) aerogel was successfully prepared. The as-prepared GO-CNF possessed interconnected 3D network microstructure based on GO nanosheets grown along CNF through hydrogen bonds. The aerogel exhibited superior adsorption capacity toward four kinds of antibiotics. The removal percentages (R%) of these antibiotics were 81.5%, 79.5%, 79.1%, and 73.9% for Doxycycline (DXC), Chlortetracycline (CTC), Oxytetracycline (OTC), and tetracycline (TC), respectively. Simultaneously, the adsorption isotherms were well fitted to Langmuir model and kinetics study implied that the adsorption process was attributed to pseudo-second-order model. The maximum theoretical adsorption capacities of GO-CNF were 469.7, 396.5, 386.5, and 343.8 mg·g−1 for DXC, CTC, OTC, and TC, respectively, calculated by the Langmuir isotherm models. After five cycles, importantly, the regenerated aerogels still could be used with little degradation of adsorption property. Consequently, the as-synthesized GO-CNF was a successful application of effective removal of antibiotics

Spawns structure of rod-like ZnO wrapped in the cellulose nanofibers was successfully fabricated through a facile one-step hydrothermal method, and their electromagnetic wave absorption properties were investigated. The structure and properties of the composite aerogel were characterized. The enlarged morphology images showed that the as-prepared cellulose nanofiber/ZnO samples were spawns structure of rod-like ZnO wrapped in the cellulose nanofibers. The composite aerogel in a wax matrix exhibited excellent electromagnetic wave absorption performance over 2–18 GHz. The widest absorption bandwidth of 30 wt% contained with reflection loss values less than −10 dB was up to 12 GHz (6–18 GHz) at the thickness of 5.5 mm and the minimum reflection loss value reached −26.32 dB at 15.2 GHz when the thickness of the absorber was 3 mm

Multisensory transfer effects in implicit and explicit category learning

In category learning, transfer emerges when individuals apply the knowledge or strategy learned with one set of stimuli to a novel set. Under multisensory circumstances, it remains unclear whether the transfer occurs differently in implicit and explicit category learning, as it remains controversial whether explicit knowledge is indispensable for transfer. To address this issue, we adopted multisensory stimuli in implicit (i.e., information integration, II) and explicit (i.e., conjunctive rule-based, RB) category learning tasks. Experiment 1 showed that when training and novel sets shared the same feature modalities, spontaneous transfer without feedback was perfect in the II condition but impaired in the RB condition. However, with feedback, the dependent transfer occurred equally between conditions. Experiment 2 revealed that when across different feature modalities, no spontaneous transfer was observed in any of the two conditions. A dependent transfer occurred in the RB but not in the II condition. Experiment 3 found that delayed feedback disrupted II task performance but not RB task performance, indicating that people did not learn the II task using an explicit rule. The current study demonstrated that transfer to novel stimuli could emerge in explicit and implicit category learning within feature modalities. However, the transfer across feature modalities could only arise with feedback in explicit learning. We further discuss these findings' meaning with the current category learning theory

Cellulose nanofiber/AlOOH aerogel for flame retardant and thermal insulation was successfully prepared through a hydrothermal method. Their flame retardant and thermal insulation properties were investigated. The morphology image of the cellulose nanofiber/AlOOH exhibited spherical AlOOH with an average diameter of 0.5 μm that was wrapped by cellulose nanofiber or adhered to them. Cellulose nanofiber/AlOOH composite aerogels exhibited excellent flame retardant and thermal insulation properties through the flammability test, which indicated that the as-prepared composite aerogels would have a promising future in the application of some important areas such as protection of lightweight construction materials

Thoracic injection of low-dose interleukin-2 as an adjuvant therapy improves the control of the malignant pleural effusions: a systematic review and meta-analysis base on Chinese patients

Abstract Background Interleukin-2 (IL-2) is an important immunotherapy cytokine for various diseases including cancer. Some studies reported the efficacy and safety on cisplatin combined with IL-2 versus cisplatin alone for treating malignant pleural effusion (MPE) through thoracic injection. Methods We searched these studies from medical electronic database. A total of 18 studies that met the inclusion criteria were recruited in this meta-analysis. Pooled odds ratios (OR) with 95% confidence intervals (CI) were determined by the fixed effects model of meta-analysis. Results The objective response rate (ORR) and disease control rate (DCR) of cisplatin plus IL-2 for controlling MPE was significantly higher than that of cisplatin alone (p  0.05). Conclusions The low-dose IL-2 improved the ORR, DCR and QOL of patients in the treatment of MPE. Although it may cause fever in patients, it did not increase other AEs

Bamboo with water-resistant, UV-resistant, and fire-resistant properties was desirable in modern society. In this paper, the original bamboo was firstly treated with ZnO sol and then hydrothermally the ZnO nanosheet networks grow onto the bamboo surface and subsequently modified with fluoroalkyl silane (FAS-17). The FAS-17 treated bamboo substrate exhibited not only robust superhydrophobicity with a high contact angle of 161° but also stable repellency towards simulated acid rain (pH = 3) with a contact angle of 152°. Except for its robust superhydrophobicity, such a bamboo also presents superior water-resistant, UV-resistant, and fire-resistant properties

In this study, nanooctahedra MnFe2O4 were successfully deposited on a wood surface via a low hydrothermal treatment by hydrogen bonding interactions. As-prepared MnFe2O4/wood composite (MW) had superior performance of soft magnetism, fire resistance and electromagnetic wave absorption. Among them, small hysteresis loops and low coercivity (<±5 Oe) were observed in the magnetization-field curve of MW with saturation magnetization of 28.24 emu/g, indicating its excellent soft magnetism. The MW also exhibited a good fire-resistant property due to its initial burning time at 20 s; while only 6 s for the untreated wood (UW) in combustion experiments. Additionally, this composite revealed good electromagnetic wave absorption with a minimum reflection loss of −9.3 dB at 16.48 GHz. Therefore, the MW has great potential in the fields of special decoration and indoor electromagnetic wave absorbers
