Inflationary universe in loop quantum cosmology
Loop quantum cosmology provides a nice solution of avoiding the big bang
singularity through a big bounce mechanism in the high energy region. In loop
quantum cosmology an inflationary universe is emergent after the big bounce, no
matter what matter component is filled in the universe. A super-inflation phase
without phantom matter will appear in a certain way in the initial stage after
the bounce; then the universe will undergo a normal inflation stage. We discuss
the condition of inflation in detail in this framework. Also, for slow-roll
inflation, we expect the imprint from the effects of the loop quantum cosmology
should be left in the primordial perturbation power spectrum. However, we show
that this imprint is too weak to be observed.Comment: 21 pages, 4 figures; accepted for publication in JCA
Cyclic cosmology from Lagrange-multiplier modified gravity
We investigate cyclic and singularity-free evolutions in a universe governed
by Lagrange-multiplier modified gravity, either in scalar-field cosmology, as
well as in one. In the scalar case, cyclicity can be induced by a
suitably reconstructed simple potential, and the matter content of the universe
can be successfully incorporated. In the case of -gravity, cyclicity can
be induced by a suitable reconstructed second function of a very
simple form, however the matter evolution cannot be analytically handled.
Furthermore, we study the evolution of cosmological perturbations for the two
scenarios. For the scalar case the system possesses no wavelike modes due to a
dust-like sound speed, while for the case there exist an oscillation
mode of perturbations which indicates a dynamical degree of freedom. Both
scenarios allow for stable parameter spaces of cosmological perturbations
through the bouncing point.Comment: 8 pages, 3 figures, references added, accepted for publicatio
Dark Energy Model with Spinor Matter and Its Quintom Scenario
A class of dynamical dark energy models, dubbed Spinor Quintom, can be
constructed by a spinor field with a nontraditional potential. We find
that, if choosing suitable potential, this model is able to allow the
equation-of-state to cross the cosmological constant boundary without
introducing any ghost fields. In a further investigation, we show that this
model is able to mimic a perfect fluid of Chaplygin gas with during
the evolution, and also realizes the Quintom scenario with its
equation-of-state across -1.Comment: 20 pages, 5 figures, accepted by CQG, several references adde
Crossing the phantom divide in an interacting generalized Chaplygin gas
Unified generalized Chaplygin gas models assuming an interaction between dark
energy and dark matter fluids have been previously proposed. Following these
ideas, we consider a particular relation between dark densities, which allows
the possibility of a time varying equation of state for dark energy that
crosses the phantom divide at a recent epoch. Moreover, these densities decay
during all the evolution of the Universe, avoiding a Big Rip. We find also a
scaling solution, i.e. these densities are asymptotically proportional in the
future, which contributes to the solution of the coincidence problem.Comment: Improved version, 10 pages, 4 figures, References adde
Natural Phantom Dark Energy, Wiggling Hubble Parameter and Direct Data
Recent direct data indicate that the parameter may wiggle with
respect to . On the other hand the luminosity distance data of supernovae
flatten the wiggles of because of integration effect. It is expected
that the fitting results can be very different in a model permitting a wiggling
because the data of supernovae is highly degenerated to such a model. As
an example the natural phantom dark energy is investigated in this paper. The
dynamical property of this model is studied. The model is fitted by the direct
data set and the SNLS data set, respectively. And the results are quite
different, as expected. The quantum stability of this model is also shortly
discussed. We find it is a viable model if we treat it as an effective theory
truncated by an upperbound.Comment: 14 pages, 2 figures, discussions on the stability added, conclusions

UV stable, Lorentz-violating dark energy with transient phantom era
Phantom fields with negative kinetic energy are often plagued by the vacuum
quantum instability in the ultraviolet region. We present a Lorentz-violating
dark energy model free from this problem and show that the crossing of the
cosmological constant boundary w=-1 to the phantom equation of state is
realized before reaching a de Sitter attractor. Another interesting feature is
a peculiar time-dependence of the effective Newton's constant; the magnitude of
this effect is naturally small but may be close to experimental limits. We also
derive momentum scales of instabilities at which tachyons or ghosts appear in
the infrared region around the present Hubble scale and clarify the conditions
under which tachyonic instabilities do not spoil homogeneity of the
present/future Universe.Comment: 22 pages, 7 figures; Presentation modified substantially, results and

Measurement of the branching fractions of psi(2S) -> 3(pi+pi-) and J/psi -> 2(pi+pi-)
Using data samples collected at sqrt(s) = 3.686GeV and 3.650GeV by the BESII
detector at the BEPC, the branching fraction of psi(2S) -> 3(pi+pi-) is
measured to be [4.83 +- 0.38(stat) +- 0.69(syst)] x 10^-4, and the relative
branching fraction of J/psi -> 2(pi+pi-) to that of J/psi -> mu+mu- is measured
to be [5.86 +- 0.19(stat) +- 0.39(syst)]% via psi(2S) -> (pi+pi-)J/psi, J/psi
-> 2(pi+pi-). The electromagnetic form factor of 3(pi+pi-) is determined to be
0.21 +- 0.02 and 0.20 +- 0.01 at sqrt(s) = 3.686GeV and 3.650GeV, respectively.Comment: 17pages, 7 figures, submitted to Phys. Rev.
Measurement of the chi_{c2} Polarization in psi(2S) to gamma chi_{c2}
The polarization of the chi_{c2} produced in psi(2S) decays into gamma
chi_{c2} is measured using a sample of 14*10^6 psi(2S) events collected by
BESII at the BEPC. A fit to the chi_{c2} production and decay angular
distributions in psi(2S) to gamma chi_{c2}, chi_{c2} to pi pi and KK yields
values x=A_1/A_0=2.08+/-0.44 and y=A_2/A_0=3.03 +/-0.66, with a correlation
rho=0.92 between them, where A_{0,1,2} are the chi_{c2} helicity amplitudes.
The measurement agrees with a pure E1 transition, and M2 and E3 contributions
do not differ significantly from zero.Comment: 6 pages, 4 figures, 1 tabl
A Unified Approach to the Classical Statistical Analysis of Small Signals
We give a classical confidence belt construction which unifies the treatment
of upper confidence limits for null results and two-sided confidence intervals
for non-null results. The unified treatment solves a problem (apparently not
previously recognized) that the choice of upper limit or two-sided intervals
leads to intervals which are not confidence intervals if the choice is based on
the data. We apply the construction to two related problems which have recently
been a battle-ground between classical and Bayesian statistics: Poisson
processes with background, and Gaussian errors with a bounded physical region.
In contrast with the usual classical construction for upper limits, our
construction avoids unphysical confidence intervals. In contrast with some
popular Bayesian intervals, our intervals eliminate conservatism (frequentist
coverage greater than the stated confidence) in the Gaussian case and reduce it
to a level dictated by discreteness in the Poisson case. We generalize the
method in order to apply it to analysis of experiments searching for neutrino
oscillations. We show that this technique both gives correct coverage and is
powerful, while other classical techniques that have been used by neutrino
oscillation search experiments fail one or both of these criteria.Comment: 40 pages, 15 figures. Changes 15-Dec-99 to agree more closely with
published version. A few small changes, plus the two substantive changes we
made in proof back in 1998: 1) The definition of "sensitivity" in Sec. V(C).
It was inconsistent with our actual definition in Sec. VI. 2) "Note added in

Observation of p pbar pi^0 and p pbar eta in psi' decays
The processes psi'-->p pbar pi^0 and psi'-->p pbar eta are studied using a
sample of 14 million psi' decays collected with the Beijing Spectrometer at the
Beijing Electron-Positron Collider. The branching fraction of psi'-->p pbar
pi^0 is measured with improved precision as (13.2\pm 1.0\pm 1.5)\times 10^{-5},
and psi'-->p pbar eta is observed for the first time with a branching fraction
of (5.8\pm 1.1\pm 0.7)\times 10^{-5}, where the first errors are statistical
and the second ones are systematic.Comment: 15 pages, 8 figures and 3 table
