Major function of exoskeletal robot system for upper limbs rehabilitation is to assist patient to carry out upper limbs’ rehabilitation training. Main technology of exoskeletal robot system for upper limbs rehabilitation includes design of mechanical structure of exoskeletal robot, design of control system of exoskeletal robot and implemention of data and information transmission between exoskeletal robot and upper limbs of human body. Currently implemention of data and information transmission rely mainly on methods of acquiring sEMG signal and force feedback. Reviewing and analyzing the specific technical development and deficiency in field of exoskeletal robot system for upper limbs rehabilitation will be important way in improving and upgrading the technology in future

Clinical Implications of Girdin Protein Expression in Glioma

Objective. To investigate the expression status of Girdin in glioma and the relationship between Girdin expression and the biological behavior of glioma. Materials and methods. The expression status of Girdin in glioma from 560 cases was evaluated by RT-PCR, Western Blot and immunohistochemistry. The relationship between Girdin expression and clinic-pathological parameters as well as prognosis was also studied. Results. The expression of Girdin in high grade glioma was significantly higher than low grade glioma. After universal analysis, the expression of Girdin protein is closely related to KPS score, extent of resection, Ki67 and WHO grade, but it was not related to sex and age. Finally, extent of resection, Ki67 and WHO grade were indentified to be related to the Girdin protein expression in logistic regression. Interestingly, we found that the expression of Girdin is significantly related to the distant metastasis of glioma. After COX regression analysis, KPS score, Extent of resection, Ki67, WHO grade as well as Girdin were observed to be independent prognostic factors. Conclusions. Girdin is differential expressed in the glioma patients and closely related to the biological behavior of Glioma. Finally, Girdin was found to be a strong predictor for the post-operative prognosis

Large Photonic Band Gaps in Certain Periodic and Quasi-Periodic Networks in two and three dimensions

The photonic band structures in certain two- and three-dimensional periodic networks made of one-dimensional waveguides are studied by using the Floquet-Bloch theorem. We find that photonic band gaps exist only in those structures where the fundamental loop exhibits anti-resonant transmission. This is also true for quasi-periodic networks in two and three dimensions, where the photonic band structures are calculated from the spectra of total transmission arising from a source inside the samples. In all the cases we have studied, it is also found that the gap positions in a network are dictated by the frequencies at which the anti-resonance occurs.Comment: 7 pages, 10 figures and 1 table. Passive Continuous Particle Focusing in a Microchannel with Symmetric Sharp Corner Structures

    Get PDF
We report a continuous passive particle focusing method using a novel microchannel with symmetric sharp corners which induce curved streamlines and large centrifugal force on particles. At appropriate flow rate, the centrifugal force generated on particles exceeds the inertial lift force; particles driven by the centrifugal force migrate toward the center of the microchannel, achieving continuous particle focus-ing. With simple structure and operation, this method can be potentially used in particle focusing and ex-traction processes in a variety of lab-on-a chip applications
