    Study of the relevant parameters of optic nerve of patients with suspected ocular hypertension

    AIM: To investigate the differences of the relevant parameters of optic nerve between patients with suspected ocular hypertension and normal people. <p>METHODS: There were 36 eyes of suspected ocular hypertension and 43 normal eyes to test their retinal nerve fiber layer thickness(RNFL), the optic disk parameters, the thickness of macular ganglion cell complex(mGCCT)and visual field index. The analysis and comparison are made on the obtained results.<p>RESULTS: There was significant difference(<i>P</i><0.01)between the patients with suspected ocular hypertension and normal eyes in average, inferior and superior RNFL thickness, optic disk parameters(rim area, cup volume, average C/D ratio)and the average, inferior, superior thickness of macular ganglion cell complex(<i>P</i><0.01). There was statistical difference between two groups in nasal RNFL thickness(<i>P</i><0.05), but there was no statistical difference in temporal RNFL thickness, cup area, mean deviation(MD)and pattern standard deviation(PSD)(<i>P</i>>0.05).<p>CONCLUSION: There is significant difference between normal and suspected ocular hypertension eyes in average, inferior and superior RNFL thickness, optic disk parameters(rim area, cup volume, average C/D ratio)and the average, inferior, superior thickness of mGCCT

    Different roles of nodes in networks

    The 'complex network' has been studied in many disciplines. In this thesis, we use an economic network to study the heterogeneity of the networks. Networks of shareholders in Turkey and the Netherlands are constructed from raw data. The nodes are shareholders and an edge between shareholders exists if they have invested in the same company. The general analysis of network has shown that this type of network has characteristics similar to other types of real-world networks: power-law like degree distributions, small-world phenomenon and scaling of community size distributions. Furthermore, we introduce the 'type' of shareholders and analyse the different behaviour of shareholder types by comparing with a randomised null model. The results are that different types of shareholders are parts of different topological structures in the networks. Based on the economic behaviours, we propose a random walk model to mimic the different roles of shareholders in the networks. The model starts with a directed random graph of shareholders with assigned labels/types mimicing the raw data, and companies, showing which companies shareholders have invested in. A biased random walker model is introduced to model, on an abstract level, how shareholders' investments evolve. We then extract the associated shareholder network. This evolving model can qualitatively explain general characteristics and heterogeneity of the real-world shareholder networks: the scaling of community size distributions, percolation behaviour and the average shortest paths between different types. When we focus on the emergence of features from local interactions and higher-order interactions. We propose a new framework for this analysis. For a more general analysis, we design a simple transition matrix of temporal triplets. By comparing the transition matrix of higher-order interactions with the transition matrix of a pairwise interaction toy model, we can quantify the interactions of triplets. Moreover, we create an algorithm based on the transition matrix to make link predictions. We apply this framework to real-world networks and show that this new framework is successful in making predictions.Open Acces

    Studies on X(4260) and X(4660) particles

    Studies on the X(4260) and X(4660) resonant states in an effective lagrangian approach are reviewed. Using a Breit--Wigner propagator to describe their propagation, we find that the X(4260) has a sizable coupling to the ωχc0\omega\chi_{c0} channel, while other couplings are found to be negligible. Besides, it couples much stronger to σ\sigma than to f0(980)f_0(980): gXΨσ2/gXΨf0(980)2O(10) .|g_{X\Psi \sigma}^2/g^2_{X\Psi f_0(980)}|\sim O(10) \ . As an approximate result for X(4660), we obtain that the ratio of Br(XΛc+Λc)Br(XΨ(2s)π+π)20\frac{Br(X\rightarrow\Lambda_c^+\Lambda_c^-)}{Br(X\rightarrow\Psi(2s)\pi^+\pi^-)}\simeq 20. Finally, taking X(3872) as an example, we also point out a possible way to extend the previous method to a more general one in the effective lagrangian approach.Comment: Talk given by H. Q.     University Soft Power: Meaning and Strategy of Construction from the Perspective of “Harmony” Culture

The study of Chinese universities’ soft power should be placed under the vision of Chinese traditional culture. As the quintessence of Chinese traditional culture, the “harmony” culture- the ideological origin of the modern management, bears the characteristics of inclusiveness in spiritual realm, morality in judging the right and the wrong, development in value-orientation, and the balance in achieving methods, etc.. The construction of university soft power under the vision of “harmony” culture meets the demand to unify the overall characteristics of the Chinese traditional culture and the integrated layout of soft power construction, and also meets the requirement to fulfill the value of Chinese traditional culture with cultural consciousness, thus can realize the combination of cultural value of “harmony” with university value’s rebuilding, helps to exert university’s function.
