    The Smart Phone as a Mouse

    With the development of hardware, mobile phone has become a feature-rich handheld device. Built-in camera and Bluetooth technology are supported in most current mobile phones. A real-time image processing experiment was conducted with a SonyEricsson P910i smartphone and a desktop computer. This thesis describes the design and implementation of a system which uses a mobile phone as a PC mouse. The movement of the mobile phone can be detected by analyzing the images captured by the onboard camera and the mouse cursor in the PC can be controlled by the movement of the phone

    Characterization of Subtilin L-Q11, a Novel Class I Bacteriocin Synthesized by Bacillus subtilis L-Q11 Isolated From Orchard Soil

    Bacteriocins are peptides or proteins synthesized by bacterial ribosomes that show killing or inhibitory activities against different groups of bacteria. Bacteriocins are considered potential alternatives to traditional antibiotics, preservatives in pharmaceutical and food industries. A strain L-Q11 isolated from orchard soil was phylogenetically characterized as Bacillus subtilis based on 16S rRNA gene sequencing analysis. A novel class I bacteriocin (Subtilin L-Q11), was identified and purified from L-Q11 cell-free supernatant in a four-step procedure, including salt precipitation, cation exchange, gel filtration, and reverse-phase high-performance liquid chromatography (RP-HPLC). The molecular mass (3,552.9 Da) of this novel bacteriocin was determined by Matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization time-of-flight mass spectrometry (MALDI-TOF-MS). The purified Subtilin L-Q11 exhibited optimal features in pH tolerance, thermostability, and sensitivity to proteases. Further, Subtilin L-Q11 showed inhibitory activities against a number of bacteria including some human pathogens and food spoilage bacteria, in particular Staphylococcus aureus. All these important features make this novel bacteriocin a potential candidate for the development of a new antibacterial drug or food preservative in the future

    Multilayered epithelium in a rat model and human Barrett's esophagus: Similar expression patterns of transcription factors and differentiation markers

    Abstract Background In rats, esophagogastroduodenal anastomosis (EGDA) without concomitant chemical carcinogen treatment leads to gastroesophageal reflux disease, multilayered epithelium (MLE, a presumed precursor in intestinal metaplasia), columnar-lined esophagus, dysplasia, and esophageal adenocarcinoma. Previously we have shown that columnar-lined esophagus in EGDA rats resembled human Barrett's esophagus (BE) in its morphology, mucin features and expression of differentiation markers (Lab. Invest. 2004;84:753–765). The purpose of this study was to compare the phenotype of rat MLE with human MLE, in order to gain insight into the nature of MLE and its potential role in the development of BE. Methods Serial sectioning was performed on tissue samples from 32 EGDA rats and 13 patients with established BE. Tissue sections were immunohistochemically stained for a variety of transcription factors and differentiation markers of esophageal squamous epithelium and intestinal columnar epithelium. Results We detected MLE in 56.3% (18/32) of EGDA rats, and in all human samples. As expected, both rat and human squamous epithelium, but not intestinal metaplasia, expressed squamous transcription factors and differentiation markers (p63, Sox2, CK14 and CK4) in all cases. Both rat and human intestinal metaplasia, but not squamous epithelium, expressed intestinal transcription factors and differentiation markers (Cdx2, GATA4, HNF1α, villin and Muc2) in all cases. Rat MLE shared expression patterns of Sox2, CK4, Cdx2, GATA4, villin and Muc2 with human MLE. However, p63 and CK14 were expressed in a higher proportion of rat MLE compared to humans. Conclusion These data indicate that rat MLE shares similar properties to human MLE in its expression pattern of these markers, not withstanding small differences, and support the concept that MLE may be a transitional stage in the metaplastic conversion of squamous to columnar epithelium in BE

    Big data analysis of the effectiveness for capital asset pricing model under COVID-19

    In 2020, the novel coronavirus outbreak in China and rapidly spread around the world, causing a great impact on the economies of all countries, but also brought great uncertainty to the global financial market. The epidemic may not only trigger a crisis of supply, investment and supply chain disruption, but also further spread to the financial market, exacerbating systemic risks in the financial market and having a certain impact on the pricing of various types of assets. On this basis, this study conducts an empirical study on stock pricing under the influence of COVID-19 based on capital asset pricing model model to explore its effectiveness. To be specific, this paper selected two representative stocks from five different industries, namely medical care, catering, agriculture, tourism, and automobile, and used their returns from 2015 to 2019 for regression analysis, so as to predict the returns during the epidemic period and judge the effectiveness of the capm model during the epidemic period.     Application of biodegradable plastic film to reduce plastic film residual pollution in Chinese agriculture

    peer reviewedPlastic film has become an important agriculture production material in recent years. Over the past three decades, the amount and application area of plastic film have increased steadily, and in 2014, which are 1.4 million tons and more than 180 million hm2 respectively. It plays a key role for ensuring the supply of agricultural goods in China. Meanwhile, plastic film residual pollution becomes more and more serious, and in some regions, the amount of plastic film residues has reached over 250 kg/hm2. In part of the Northwest region, soil structure of farmland has been destroyed by plastic film residues and then crop growth and farming operations were suppressed. It is recognized as a good choice to replace plastic film with biodegradable plastic film, an effective measure to solve the plastic film residue pollution. Now, it is in a critical stage of study and assessment of biodegradable plastic film in China and fortunately some biodegradable plastic films show effects in the production of potatoes, peanuts and tobacco. Overall, a series of challenges has still been faced by the biodegradable plastic film, mainly including improving the quality of biodegradable plastic products, such as tensile strength, flexibility, improving the controllability of rupture and degradation, enhancing the ability of increasing soil temperature and preserving soil moisture, and to satisfy the demand of crops production with mulching. In addition, it is essential to reduce the cost of the biodegradable film and promote the application of biodegradable film on large-scale. With the development of biodegradable plastic technology and agricultural production environment, the application of the biodegradable film will have a good future

    Construction and application of factory digital twin model based on BIM and point cloud

    The digital twin model of the factory is the basis for the construction of a digital factory, and the professional system of the factory is complex. The traditional BIM model is not completely consistent with the actual position of the corresponding component, and it is difficult to directly replace the digital twin model. In response to this situation, relying on a certain factory project, the point cloud is used to eliminate the positional deviation between the BIM model and the factory during the construction phase, improve the efficiency and accuracy and reliability of model adjustment and optimization, and , realize the conversion from BIM model to digital twin model. A novel algorithm is developed to quickly detect and evaluate the construction quality of the local structure of the factory, so as to input the initial deformation data of the structure into the corresponding model and feed back to the construction party for improvement. The results show that the digital twin model, which is highly consistent with the actual location of the factory components, not only lays a solid foundation for the construction of a digital factory, but also further deepens the integration and application of BIM and point clouds

    Accuracy Improvement of a Laser Diode-Based System for Measuring the Geometric Errors of Machine Tools

    Active methods are proposed to improve the measurement accuracy of a compact laser diode-based (LD-based) system, which is designed to measure the geometric errors of machine tools. The LD has some advantages, such as a small size, low cost and high efficiency. However, the laser spot of the LD is elliptical and the stability in the output power of the LD is low, which limits the accuracy of the measurement system, where the LD is used as the laser source. An active shaping method is proposed to shape the elliptical laser spot of the LD without adding additional optical elements. In addition, the laser beam drifts, including the linear drift and angular drift, are compensated in real-time by a proposed improved active error compensator, which consists of two drift feedback units and a Backpropagation Neural Networks-based PID controller, during the long-distance measurement. A series of experiments were conducted to verify the effectiveness of the proposed methods and the capability of the constructed LD-based system
