Increasing Compression Ratio of Low Complexity Compressive Sensing Video Encoder with Application-Aware Configurable Mechanism

With the development of embedded video acquisition nodes and wireless video surveillance systems, traditional video coding methods could not meet the needs of less computing complexity any more, as well as the urgent power consumption. So, a low-complexity compressive sensing video encoder framework with application-aware configurable mechanism is proposed in this paper, where novel encoding methods are exploited based on the practical purposes of the real applications to reduce the coding complexity effectively and improve the compression ratio (CR). Moreover, the group of processing (GOP) size and the measurement matrix size can be configured on the encoder side according to the post-analysis requirements of an application example of object tracking to increase the CR of encoder as best as possible. Simulations show the proposed framework of encoder could achieve 60X of CR when the tracking successful rate (SR) is still keeping above 90%.Comment: 5 pages with 6figures and 1 table, conferenc

Currents and current correlations in a topological superconducting nanowire beam splitter

A beam splitter consisting of two normal leads coupled to one end of a topological superconducting nanowire via double quantum dot is investigated. In this geometry, the linear current cross-correlations at zero temperature change signs versus the overlap between the two Majorana bound states hosted by the nanowire. Under symmetric bias voltages the net current flowing through the nanowire is noiseless. These two features highlight the fermionic nature of such exotic Majorana excitations though they are based on the superconductivity. Moreover, there exists a unique local particle-hole symmetry inherited from the self-Hermitian property of Majorana bound states, which is apparently scarce in other systems. We show that such particular symmetry can be revealed through measuring the currents under complementary bias voltages.Comment: 6 pages, 4 figure

Globally conservative solutions for the modified Camassa–Holm (MOCH) equation

In this paper, we present the globally conservative solutions to the Cauchy problem for the modified Camassa–Holm (MOCH) equation. First, we transform the equation into an equivalent semi-linear system under new variables. Second, according to the standard ordinary differential equation theory with the aid of the conservation law, we give the global solutions of the semi-linear system. Finally, returning to the original variables, we obtain the globally conservative solutions to the MOCH equation

Design and analysis of aerostatic spindle with high load characteristics for large ultra-precision drum lathe

    Get PDF
Aerostatic spindles offer low heat generation and high rotation accuracy, which make them an ideal choice for ultra-precision drum lathe, where extremely high motional accuracy and thermal stability are required. However, the limitations such as insufficient load capacity and stiffness have restricted their permissible application range and make them not suitable for large ultra-precision machine tools including drum lathe. In order to improve the load capacity and stiffness, this paper presents a high load capacity aerostatic spindle with pocketed orifice-type restrictors. Fluent is adopted and three-dimensional simulation models of aerostatic spindle with orifice and feeding pocket are set up to analyze the load characteristics. The simulation results show that this restrictor can enhance the throttling effect of orifice and suppress the pressure drop away from the orifice. Moreover, for aerostatic journal bearing, when eccentricity ratio is in the range of 0.2–0.3 and gas supply pressure is 0.6 MPa, carrying capacity and stiffness can reach up to 9499.4 N and 2813.1 N/μm. Finally, a group of loading experiments are carried out which prove that the novel three-dimensional simulation method is feasible and accurate to calculate the load characteristics of aerostatic spindles
