In the title layered coordination polymer, [Na4(C8H3NO6)2(H2O)3]n, the doubly deprotonated 3-nitrobenzene-1,2-dicarboxylate ligands exhibit μ8- and μ6-coordination modes to the sodium ions, generating sheets lying parallel to (001). The coordination environments of the sodium ions are distorted octahedral, distorted trigonal-bipyramidal and moncapped trigonal-prismatic. One of the nitro groups is disordered over two sets of sites with site-occupancy factors 0.580 (8):0.419 (2). A network of O—H⋯O and O—H⋯N hydrogen bonds helps to establish the packing

<p>Abstract</p> <p>Background</p> <p>Ninety-one rodent plague epidemics have occurred in Lianghe county, Yunnan Province, China, between 1990 and 2006. This study aimed to identify predictors for the presence and abundance of small mammals in households of villages endemic for rodent plague in Lianghe county.</p> <p>Results</p> <p><it>Rattus flavipectus </it>and <it>Suncus murinus </it>were the two species captured in 110 households. Keeping cats decreased the number of captures of <it>R. flavipectus </it>by one to two thirds and the chance of reported small mammal sightings in houses by 60 to 80%. Food availability was associated with fewer captures. Keeping food in sacks decreased the small mammal captures, especially of <it>S. murinus </it>4- to 8-fold. Vegetables grown around house and maize grown in the village reduced the captures of <it>S. murinus </it>and <it>R. flavipectus </it>by 73 and 45%, respectively. An outside toilet and garbage piles near the house each reduced <it>R. flavipectus </it>captures by 39 and 37%, respectively, while raising dogs and the presence of communal latrines in the village increased <it>R. flavipectus </it>captures by 76 and 110% but were without detectable effect on small mammal sightings. Location adjacent to other houses increased captures 2-fold but reduced the chance of sightings to about half. In addition, raising ducks increased the chance of sighting small mammals 2.7-fold. Even after adjusting for these variables, households of the Dai had higher captures than those of the Han and other ethnic groups.</p> <p>Conclusion</p> <p>Both species captures were reduced by availability of species-specific foods in the environment, whereas other predictors for capture of the two species differed. Other than the beneficial effect of cats, there were also discrepancies between the effects on small mammal captures and those on sightings. These differences should be considered during the implementation and interpretation of small mammal surveys.</p

The First Photometric and Orbital Period Investigation of an Extremely Low Mass Ratio Contact Binary with a Sudden Period Change, TYC 4002-2628-1

Photometric observations for the totally eclipsing binary system TYC 4002-2628-1, were obtained between November 2020 and November 2021. To determine the stellar atmospheric parameters, a spectral image was taken with the 2.16 m telescope at National Astronomical Observatory of China (NAOC). TYC 4002-2628-1 is a low-amplitude (about 0.15 mag for VV band), short-period (0.3670495 d), contact eclipsing binary with a total secondary eclipse. Intrinsic light curve variations and the reversal of the O'Connell effect are detected in the light curves, which may be due to spot activity. Based on the photometric solutions derived from the multi-band time series light curves, TYC 4002-2628-1 is an extremely low mass ratio contact binary with a mass ratio of qq\sim 0.0482 and a fill-out factor of f5%f\sim5\%. By analyzing the OCO-C variations, we find that its orbital period remains unchanged when BJD < 2458321 . Then the orbital period changed suddenly around BJD 2458743 and has an increasing rate of dP/dt=1.62×105dayyr1=140dP/dt=1.62\times{10^{-5}}day\cdot yr^{-1}=140 secondcentury1second\cdot century^{-1} . If confirmed, TYC 4002-2628-1 would be the contact binary with the highest orbital period increasing rate so far. By investigating the ratio of orbital angular momentum to the spin angular momentum ( JorbJ_{orb}/JspinJ_{spin} <3<3) , the instability mass ratio (qinst/q=1.84q_{inst}/q=1.84) and the instability separation (Ainst/A=1.35A_{inst}/A=1.35), TYC 4002-2628-1 can be regarded as a merger candidate.Comment: 9 page

Renal Function, Bisphenol A, and Alkylphenols: Results from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES 2003–2006)

BACKGROUND: Urinary excretion of bisphenol A (BPA) and alkylphenols (APs) was used as a biomarker in most previous studies, but no study has investigated whether urinary excretion of these environmental phenols differed by renal function. OBJECTIVE: We estimated the association between renal function and urinary excretion of BPA and APs. METHODS: Analyses were conducted using data from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) 2003-2006. Renal function was measured as estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) calculated by the Modification of Diet in Renal Disease (MDRD) Study equation and by the newly developed Chronic Kidney Disease Epidemiology Collaboration (CKD-EPI) equation. Regression models were used to calculate geometric means of urinary BPA and APs excretion by eGFR category (&gt;= 90, 60-90, &lt;60 mL/min/m(2)) after adjusting for potential confounding factors. RESULTS: When we used the MDRD Study equation, participants without known renal disease (n = 2,573), 58.2% (n = 1,499) had mildly decreased renal function or undiagnosed chronic kidney disease. The adjusted geometric means for urinary BPA excretion decreased with decreasing levels of eGFR (p for trend = 0.04). The associations appeared primarily in females (p for trend = 0.03). Urinary triclosan excretion decreased with decreasing levels of eGFR (p for trend &lt;0.01) for both males and females, and the association primarily appeared in participants &lt;65 years of age. The association between BPA and eGFR was nonsignificant when we used the CKD-EPI equation. CONCLUSIONS: Urinary excretion of triclosan, and possibly BPA, decreased with decreasing renal function. The associations might differ by age or sex. Further studies are necessary to replicate our results and understand the mechanism.http://gateway.webofknowledge.com/gateway/Gateway.cgi?GWVersion=2&SrcApp=PARTNER_APP&SrcAuth=LinksAMR&KeyUT=WOS:000289065900035&DestLinkType=FullRecord&DestApp=ALL_WOS&UsrCustomerID=8e1609b174ce4e31116a60747a720701Environmental SciencesPublic, Environmental &amp; Occupational HealthToxicologySCI(E)22ARTICLE4527-53311

High-level synthesis design of scalable ultrafast ultrasound beamformer with single FPGA

Ultrafast ultrasound imaging is essential for advanced ultrasound imaging techniques such as ultrasound localization microscopy (ULM) and functional ultrasound (fUS). Current ultrafast ultrasound imaging is challenged by the ultrahigh data bandwidth associated with the radio frequency (RF) signal, and by the latency of the computationally expensive beamforming process. As such, continuous ultrafast data acquisition and beamforming remain elusive with existing software beamformers based on CPUs or GPUs. To address these challenges, the proposed work introduces a novel method of implementing an ultrafast ultrasound beamformer specifically for ultrafast plane wave imaging (PWI) on a field programmable gate array (FPGA) by using high-level synthesis. A parallelized implementation of the beamformer on a single FPGA was proposed by 1) utilizing a delay compression technique to reduce the delay profile size, which enables both run-time pre-calculated delay profile loading from external memory and delay reuse 2) vectorizing channel data fetching which is enabled by delay reuse, and 3) using fixed summing networks to reduce consumption of logic resources. Our proposed method presents two unique advantages over current FPGA beamformers: 1) high scalability that allows fast adaptation to different FPGA resources and beamforming speed demands by using Xilinx High-Level Synthesis as the development tool, and 2) allow a compact form factor design by using a single FPGA to complete the beamforming instead of multiple FPGAs. With the proposed method, a sustainable average beamforming rate of 4.83 G samples/second in terms of input raw RF sample was achieved. The resulting image quality of the proposed beamformer was compared with the software beamformer on the Verasonics Vantage system for both phantom imaging and in vivo imaging of a mouse brain

Background Alternative N-glycosylation has significant structural and functional consequences on immunoglobulin G (IgG) and can affect immune responses, acting as a switch between pro- and anti-inflammatory IgG functionality. Studies have demonstrated that IgG N-glycosylation is associated with ageing, body mass index, type 2 diabetes and hypertension. Methods Herein, we have demonstrated patterns of IgG glycosylation that are associated with blood lipids in a cross-sectional study including 598 Han Chinese aged 20–68 years. The IgG glycome composition was analysed by ultra-performance liquid chromatography. Results Blood lipids were positively correlated with glycan peak GP6, whereas they were negatively correlated with GP18 (P \u3c 0.05/57). The canonical correlation analysis indicated that initial N-glycan structures, including GP4, GP6, GP9-12, GP14, GP17, GP18 and GP23, were significantly correlated with blood lipids, including total cholesterol, total triglycerides (TG) and low-density lipoprotein (r = 0.390, P \u3c 0.001). IgG glycans patterns were able to distinguish patients with dyslipidaemia from the controls, with an area under the curve of 0.692 (95% confidence interval 0.644–0.740). Conclusions Our findings indicated that a possible association between blood lipids and the observed loss of galactose and sialic acid, as well as the addition of bisecting GlcNAcs, which might be related to the chronic inflammation accompanying with the development and procession of dyslipidaemia
