Lepton Flavor Violating Radiative Decays in EW-Scale Model: An Update
We perform an updated analysis for the one-loop induced lepton flavor
violating radiative decays in an extended mirror model.
Mixing effects of the neutrinos and charged leptons constructed with a
horizontal symmetry are also taken into account. Current experimental
limit and projected sensitivity on the branching ratio of
are used to constrain the parameter space of the model. Calculations of two
related observables, the electric and magnetic dipole moments of the leptons,
are included. Implications concerning the possible detection of mirror leptons

Far-infrared absorption in parallel quantum wires with weak tunneling
We study collective and single-particle intersubband excitations in a system
of quantum wires coupled via weak tunneling. For an isolated wire with
parabolic confinement, the Kohn's theorem guarantees that the absorption
spectrum represents a single sharp peak centered at the frequency given by the
bare confining potential. We show that the effect of weak tunneling between two
parabolic quantum wires is twofold: (i) additional peaks corresponding to
single-particle excitations appear in the absorption spectrum, and (ii) the
main absorption peak acquires a depolarization shift. We also show that the
interplay between tunneling and weak perpendicular magnetic field drastically
enhances the dispersion of single-particle excitations. The latter leads to a
strong damping of the intersubband plasmon for magnetic fields exceeding a

Functional Antagonism of WRI1 and TCP20 Modulates \u3ci\u3eGH3.3\u3c/i\u3e Expression to Maintain Auxin Homeostasis in Roots
Auxin is a well-studied phytohormone, vital for diverse plant developmental processes. The GH3 genes are one of the major auxin responsive genes, whose expression changes lead to modulation of plant development and auxin homeostasis. However, the transcriptional regulation of these GH3 genes remains largely unknown. WRI1 is an essential transcriptional regulator governing plant fatty acid biosynthesis. Recently, we identified that the expression of GH3.3 is increased in the roots of wri1-1 mutant. Nevertheless, in this study we found that AtWRI1 did not activate or repress the promoter of GH3.3 (proGH3.3) despite of its binding to proGH3.3. Cross-family transcription factor interactions play pivotal roles in plant gene regulatory networks. To explore the molecular mechanism by which WRI1 controls GH3.3 expression, we screened an Arabidopsis transcription factor library and identified TCP20 as a novel AtWRI1-interacting regulator. The interaction between AtWRI1 and TCP20 was further verified by several approaches. Importantly, we found that TCP20 directly regulates GH3.3 expression via binding to TCP binding element. Furthermore, AtWRI1 repressed the TCP20-mediated transactivation of proGH3.3. EMSAs demonstrated that AtWRI1 antagonized TCP20 from binding to proGH3.3. Collectively, we provide new insights that WRI1 attenuates GH3.3 expression through interaction with TCP20, highlighting a new mechanism that contributes to fine-tuning auxin homeostasis
Vasoconstrictive effect of Xinmailong injection in rat aorta
Background: Cockroach has been traditionally utilized in China for the therapy of cardiovascular disorders, such as heart failure. The present study was aimed to assess the vasoconstrictive effect of Xinmailong Injection (XML), a bioactive composite from American cockroach.Methodology: The isometric tensions of rat aortic rings were measured after acutely treated with XML. Meanwhile, the systemic blood pressures (SBPs) were recorded and the levels of the endothelium-derived cytokines in blood samples were detected after rats were administered with XML for 3 days. Protein expression for the L-type Ca2+ channels (Cav1.2) was also determined in rat thoracic aorta.Results: XML induced vasoconstrictions in rat aortic rings with or without endothelium. In addition, the vasoconstrictions due to the extracellular Ca2+ influx and the intracellular Ca2+ release were also elevated by XML. After treatment with XML for 3 days, the level of prostacyclin (PGI2) was markedly increased whereas the levels of nitric oxide (NO) and endothelin-1 (ET-1) were not significantly changed in rats. Furthermore, expression of the Cav1.2 protein was significantly enhanced in aorta but the SBPs of rats were not influenced.Conclusion: XML plays an important role in regulating vascular tone. The increases of the extracellular Ca2+ influx and the intracellular Ca2+ release may contribute to the vasoconstriction induced by XML. Our findings pave the ways to the better understandings of the therapeutic effects of XML on cardiovascular system.Key words: Xinmailong Injection; American cockroach; Vasoconstriction
Assessment of panobacumab as adjunctive immunotherapy for the treatment of nosocomial Pseudomonas aeruginosa pneumonia.
The fully human anti-lipopolysaccharide (LPS) immunoglobulin M (IgM) monoclonal antibody panobacumab was developed as an adjunctive immunotherapy for the treatment of O11 serotype Pseudomonas aeruginosa infections. We evaluated the potential clinical efficacy of panobacumab in the treatment of nosocomial pneumonia. We performed a post-hoc analysis of a multicenter phase IIa trial (NCT00851435) designed to prospectively evaluate the safety and pharmacokinetics of panobacumab. Patients treated with panobacumab (n = 17), including 13 patients receiving the full treatment (three doses of 1.2 mg/kg), were compared to 14 patients who did not receive the antibody. Overall, the 17 patients receiving panobacumab were more ill. They were an average of 72 years old [interquartile range (IQR): 64-79] versus an average of 50 years old (IQR: 30-73) (p = 0.024) and had Acute Physiology and Chronic Health Evaluation II (APACHE II) scores of 17 (IQR: 16-22) versus 15 (IQR: 10-19) (p = 0.043). Adjunctive immunotherapy resulted in an improved clinical outcome in the group receiving the full three-course panobacumab treatment, with a resolution rate of 85 % (11/13) versus 64 % (9/14) (p = 0.048). The Kaplan-Meier survival curve showed a statistically significantly shorter time to clinical resolution in this group of patients (8.0 [IQR: 7.0-11.5] versus 18.5 [IQR: 8-30] days in those who did not receive the antibody; p = 0.004). Panobacumab adjunctive immunotherapy may improve clinical outcome in a shorter time if patients receive the full treatment (three doses). These preliminary results suggest that passive immunotherapy targeting LPS may be a complementary strategy for the treatment of nosocomial O11 P. aeruginosa pneumonia
Measurement of the Inclusive Charm Cross Section at 4.03 GeV and 4.14 GeV
The cross section for charmed meson production at and 4.14
GeV has been measured with the Beijing Spectrometer. The measurement was made
using 22.3 of data collected at 4.03 GeV and 1.5
of data collected at 4.14 GeV. Inclusive observed cross sections for
the production of charged and neutral D mesons and momentum spectra are
presented. Observed cross sections were radiatively corrected to obtain tree
level cross sections. Measurements of the total hadronic cross section are
obtained from the charmed meson cross section and an extrapolation of results

cross section for annihilation into hadronic final states at
center-of-mass energies of 2.6, 3.2, 3.4, 3.55, 4.6 and 5.0 GeV. Values of ,
