Polish children in Norway : between national discourses of belonging and everyday experiences of life abroad
This chapter examines dimensions of self-identification among Polish migrant children in Norway. The arguments are situated within childhood studies and take into account the novel framings of children in mobility/migration scholarship, as well as articularities of Polish context Stemming from the TRANSFAM research project (2013-2016), this work “gives children a voice” through a qualitative research methodology. The study illuminates those national, transnational and global elements that are paramount for daily life family practices and featured in children’s narratives. The paper focuses on the importance of socializing agents (family, peer groups, culture) for the constructions of belonging. It concludes with arguments for acknowledging the contemporary hybrid and relational identities of children who grow up transnationally between Norway and Poland
Biosynthesis and spray-drying of invertase from Yarrowia lipolytica
Inwertaza jest ważnym enzymem powszechnie stosowanym w przemyśle spożywczym, zwłaszcza
w cukiernictwie.
Do otrzy-
mania sproszkowanych preparatów enzymatycznych stosuje się liofilizację, suszenie fluidyzacyjne,
a nawet suszenie rozpyłowe.
Celem pracy była ocena procesu biosyntezy inwertazy z glicerolu przez genetycznie zmodyfikowany
polski szczep Yarrowia lipolytica oraz otrzymanie suszonego rozpyłowo preparatu tego enzymu. Biosyn-
tezę enzymu wydzielanego przez drożdże prowadzono w trzech niezależnych procesach bioreaktorowych
(H1, H2 i H3) z glicerolem jako głównym źródłem węgla. Z jednego bioreaktora uzyskano od 15926 do
40710 jednostek inwertazy (U) o aktywności właściwej 96,8 ÷ 645,6 U/mg białka. Do suszenia rozpyło-
wego przeznaczono 3690 ml zmieszanego płynu pohodowlanego o aktywności właściwej wynoszącej
263,4 U/mg białka. W procesie suszenia rozpyłowego z dodatkiem 1 % metylocelulozy otrzymano
198,12 g proszku o aktywności właściwej 113,4 U/mg białka. Inwertaza z Y. lipolytica w postaci proszku
wykazywała niższe optimum pH i temperatury niż enzym natywny oraz była bardziej termostabilna.
W zastosowanych warunkach suszenia rozpyłowego inwertaza utraciła 67 % aktywności i dlatego w dal-
szym postępowaniu należy przeprowadzić badania nad optymalizacją parametrów suszenia

Polymer Directed Self-Assembly of pH-Responsive Antioxidant Nanoparticles
We have developed pH-responsive, multifunctional nanoparticles based on encapsulation of an antioxidant, tannic acid (TA), using Flash NanoPrecipitation, a polymer directed self-assembly method. Formation of insoluble coordination complexes of tannic acid and iron during mixing drives nanoparticle assembly. Tuning the core material to polymer ratio, the size of the nanoparticles can be readily tuned between 50 and 265 nm. The resulting nanoparticle is pH-responsive, i.e. stable at pH 7.4 and soluble under acidic conditions due to the nature of the coordination complex. Further, the coordination complex can be coprecipitated with other hydrophobic materials such as therapeutics or imaging agents. For example, coprecipitation with a hydrophobic fluorescent dye creates fluorescent nanoparticles. In vitro, the nanoparticles have low cytotoxicity show antioxidant activity. Therefore, these particles may facilitate intracellular delivery of antioxidants
