âWONDERFUL SIMO: STRATEGI PEMBERDAYAAN PENGERAJIN BAMBU SECARA PARTISIPATIF DALAM MENDORONG KEBERLANJUTAN PENGEMBANGAN KLUSTER INDUSTRI BAMBU DI DESA WALEN KECAMATAN SIMO KABUPATEN BOYOLALIâ
Desa Walen terletak di Kecamatan Simo Kabupaten Boyolali Provinsi
Jawa Tengah. Hasil bambu di desa Walen melimpah ruah. Bambu tidak
hanya tumbuh di hutan bambu saja akan tetapi juga dijumpai pada
pekarangan rumah penduduk setempat. Penggunaan bambu sangat intens,
untuk membangun rumah, kandang ternak, hingga dianyam untuk dijual
guna mencukupi kebutuhan hidup sehari-hari berkat kemampuan
menganyam masyarakat yang sudah turun-temurun.
Namun, semakin hari minat masyarakat luas akan produk bambu
semakin pudar. Dengan ditemukannya industri modern, penggunaan bambu
semakin dikesampingkan karena dianggap kuno. Harga produk hasil bambu
pun juga dinilai murah sehingga dijumpai keadaan tingkat kesejahteraan
masyarakat Desa Walen masih sangat rendah.
masyarakat
The Techniques of Participatory Design for Inclusive Public Space Provision in Kampung Kota of Surakarta
The technique of participatory design is essential for the future development knowledge of architecture to inform the improvement of architectural education and practice in Asia. Therefore to provide of inclusive public spaces for the community, this research article presents a field study of the usage of community participation design method in design and planning to provide inclusive public spaces within the kampung (settlements) in Surakarta, Indonesia. Surakarta has a problem to provide inclusive public space for its dense organic-informal kampungâs for the vulnerable populations such as children. Multi dimensional complexities of the kampungâs often challenge the notion of public space provision. Community participation approach arises as one of the preferred alternative methods to solve the problems with its basic community-based foundation. This research chose Sangkrah and Gandekan sub-districts as research locations both of the areas represent kampungâs characteristics and inhabited by many children population. Steps toward the goal of the study are; (1) field observation of the implementation of a community participation design through participatory place making project, and (2) examining typology assessment perspective, and (3) clarify participation techniques. This research used: (1) descriptive analysis for the project implementation, and (2) qualitative analysis for examining communityâs perspectives. Through this multi-perspective analysis, this research presents the an alternative framework for implementing techniques community participation methods in design and planning to provide inclusive public spaces especially for children in Indonesia and other developing countries
SPATIAL TRANSFORMATION OF SURAKARTAâS PERIPHERAL RURAL VILLAGES UNDER IN-SITU URBANIZATION PHENOMENON : THE CASE OF GENTAN VILLAGE
Surakarta is one of the rapidly growing Indonesian cities. The pressure towards its peripheral area results in âin-situ urbanizationâ phenomenon of its rural village surroundings. Gentan is one of Surakarta adjacent rural villages that has been undergoing rapid spatial transformation from rural to urban settlement in the last 20 years (1995-2016). This research aims to clarify the spatial transformation in Gentan village through examinations of its spatial elements on higher resolution level; (1) transformation of its street network connectivity, (2) land use pattern, (3) building density, and (4) public facilities and accessibility. Secondary data from satellite imagery and government institution and primary data from field survey were used in this research as sources. From Gentanâs spatial elements observations, this research concluded that this village was transforming into urban settlements by its spatial elements characteristics. Furthermore, this research provides interesting findings by its analysis on the neighborhood level that while Gentan was transforming into urban settlement, its internal connectivity was decreasing, residential uses dominated its land use, the village was dominated by the formal settlement, and the reach distance of its public facilities fluctuated across the time
