Ultrastructure of spermatozoa of Bullacta exarata (philippi) and its significance on reproductive evolution and physio-ecological adaptation

    No full text
The morphology and ultrastructure of Bullacta exarata spermatozoa observed by light and transmission electron microscopy are presented in this paper. The spermatozoon is composed of head with a simple acrosomal complex and an elongated nucleus, and tail with a midpiece, principal piece and an end piece. The midpiece consists of a mitochondrial ring, and the principal piece is composed of axoneme and lateral fin. The structure of B. exarata spermatozoa differs significantly from that of other gastropods, especially in the lateral fin and the principal piece, which was described scarcely before. A comparison is made between B. exarata and other gastropods, and its significance on reproductive evolution and physio-ecological adaptation is preliminarily discussed

Development of a Web-Based Prediction System for Wheat Stripe Rust

International audienceA web-based prediction system for wheat stripe rust was developed based on B/S (Browser/Server) mode in this study. Some existing prediction models of wheat stripe rust were collected, analyzed and then stored in SQL Server 2005 database according to certain rules. All these models could be called through this web-based system and used to predict wheat stripe rust. Meanwhile, Using multiple regression analysis principle, prediction regression model could be built based on the input historical data of wheat stripe rust through the network programming via this system, and significance tests of prediction factors could be conducted to obtain optimal prediction model and the built model could be stored into the model database for further prediction of this disease. Using WebGIS technologies, the prediction results of wheat stripe rust could be displayed in different colors in the web map according to the prediction values of disease prevalence. The web-based prediction system for wheat stripe rust developed in this study provided a convenient and fast way for the prediction of wheat stripe rust

Multi-objective optimization of water supply network rehabilitation with non-dominated sorting genetic algorithm-II

    No full text
Through the transformation of hydraulic constraints into the objective functions associated with a water supply network rehabilitation problem, a non-dominated sorting Genetic Algorithm-Ⅱ (NSGA-Ⅱ) can be used to solve the altered multi-objective optimization model. The introduction of NSGA-Ⅱ into water supply network optimal rehabilitation problem solves the conflict between one fitness value of standard genetic algorithm (SGA) and multi-objectives of rehabilitation problem. And the uncertainties brought by using weight coefficients or punish functions in conventional methods are controlled. And also by introduction of artificial inducement mutation (AIM) operation, the convergence speed of population is accelerated; this operation not only improves the convergence speed, but also improves the rationality and feasibility of solutions
