    Signature Verification through Pattern Recognition

    The signature is being used as a personal authentication this fact forces the need for an automatic verification system. The verification can be done either Offline or Online based on the application that is to be prepared. The Online systems use dynamic characteristics of a signature captured at the time the signature is made. While Offline systems work on the scanned image of a signature.[4[We have worked on the Offline Verification of signatures using a set of shape based geometric characteristics. Features that are used are Baseline Slant Angle, Aspect Ratio, Normalized Area, Center of Gravity, number of edge points, number of cross points, and the Slope of the line joining the Centers of Gravity of two halves of a signature scanned image. Pre-processing of a scanned image is necessary to differentiate the signature part and to remove any spurious noise present, before extracting the features. [4] The system is initially trained using a database of signatures acquired from those individuals whose signatures have to be authenticated by the system. For each subject a average signature is obtained integrating the above features derived from a set of his/her genuine sample signatures. This average signature acts as the basis for verification against a claimed test signature. Euclidian distance in the feature space between the claimed signature and the template serves as a measure of similarity between the two. If this distance is less than a pre-defined threshold (corresponding to minimum acceptable degree of similarity), the test signature is verified to be that of the claimed subject else detected as a forgery.[4] The details of pre-processing as well as the features depicted above are described in the report along with the implementation details and simulation results.[4

    Student satisfaction is an important measure of service quality in libraries. Students’ perceptions about libraries seem to have been largely ignored by library management in developing countries. The assessment of service quality provides an important feedback for libraries to assess and improve its service to its users. The aim of this study is to develop a reliable and valid instrument measure student satisfaction in Osmangazi University Library and Anadolu University Library. A questionnaire to measure the service quality of university libraries was used and a total of 400 students at two university libraries were interviewed. Factor analysis was utilized to determine the factor structure.     Science is basically "passive" observation of the universe, as it exists to generate knowledge. Engineering is making use of that knowledge to meet human needs by creating machine, systems, process and technologies that have not previously existed. Design and manufacturing are the synthetic part of engineering practice. Manufacturer has received a lot of attention recently for very good economic reasons. The use of renewable energy resources is increasing rapidly. Following this trend, the implementation of large area solar arrays is to be considered. Due to energy drivers that include uncertainty in oil prices and environmental concerns, effective management of energy system is a priority. Energy policy can focus on three areas to improve energy system like renewable energy supply, efficiency improvement and demand reduction. The solar collectors used in the solar heating plants are flat plate solar collectors and compound parabolic solar collector. If the solar irradiance is high the volume flow rate is high, if the solar irradiance is low the volume flow rate is low. When the efficiency of a solar collector is determine often only one volume flow rate. The flat plate solar collector is the simplest form of solar energy collector. It has been widely and efficiency used in many low temperature application in the field of solar energy utilization. This paper emphasis on the maximum utilization of solar power as energy. It can be most often used at various locations such as house and industry. The additional advantage of this project is it can be used as portable solar collector

    A Review on Deduplication-Cost Efficient Method to Store Data Over Cloud Using Convergent Encryption

    This paper represents that, many techniques are using for the elimination of duplicate copies of repeating data, out of those techniques, the most important data compression technique is data deduplication. Convergent technique has been used to encrypt data before outsourcing for privacy and security point of view. In the proposed system, we apply the technique of cryptographic tuning to make the encryption more secure and flexible. In previous systems, there was a limitation of convergent encryption. Data deduplication does not allow the storage of repetitive blocks. It also puts the pointer to the existing blocks so that the data owner have the freedom of selecting users, to have access to the published file. Access control is provided into the application. The integrity of data outsourced to the cloud is managed by the hash calculation of any content following the proof-of-ownership module. Proposed system calculates the hash value of the data content on both sides i.e.; destination as well as source side. Request hash for the cloud side to predict the tampering of data. The expected analysis shows the improvement in execution time and development cost

    The purpose of this paper is to investigate the relationship between trade and financial openness and economic growth in Turkey. For this purpose for the period of 1990:1-2006:4, the relationships between trade and financial openness rates and real economic growth rate are analyzed econometrically by employing multivariate cointegration analysis, error correction-augmented Granger causality tests and vector error correction model. According to the results, economic growth is positively effected by trade openness, and negatively by financial openness in the long run. Error correction-augmented Granger causality tests show that there is bi-directional causality between trade and financial openness and economic growth.     FUNCTIONALITY OF TAUTOLOGY IN SOME SELECTED AMERICAN SONG LYRICS AND POEMS

    Although the term' tautology' predicts negative connotation, it is often employed by poets and lyric writers to communicate more implied meanings. Through the use of tautological expressions, they exchange ideas, give more possibilities to readers to detect the meaning behind the tautological words and thus suggest details not openly communicated in the poem. Ten American song lyrics and ten American poems have been selected to be the data for the study. Data analysis is conducted on the basis of three steps:(i) identifying the type of tautology used ,(ii) detecting the syntactic realization of the tautology and (iii) finding the functions of the use of tautology in these lyrics and poems. The study concludes that song lyrics and poems manipulate various types of tautologies in order to convey various types of meaning and to serve various functions with reference to their contexts. These functions are concerned with the eloquence and expressiveness of these lyrics and poems, including emphasizing a point , specifying attitudes , eliciting facts , and communicating the need to accept or resign oneself to something
