Magyarországi munkavállaló barát szervezetek- valóság vagy utópia = Employee friendly workplaces in Hungary - myth or reality
A kutatás cĂ©lja eleve kettĹ‘s volt: (1) segĂteni a szervezeteket abban, hogy más szervezetektĹ‘l tanulva HR rendszereiket átalakĂtsák Ă©s munkavállalĂł barát szervezeti gyakorlatokkal segĂtsĂ©k elĹ‘ munkavállalĂłik kiteljesedĂ©sĂ©t, Ăgy közvetve hozzájáruljanak a szervezetek jobb teljesĂtmĂ©nyĂ©hez, illetve (2) feltárva Ă©s bemutatva a munkavállalĂł gyakorlatok társadalmi konzekvenciáit, arra ösztönözzĂĽk a munkaadĂłkat, hogy etikai megfontolásbĂłl is javĂtsanak a munkavállalĂłikat Ă©rintĹ‘ gyakorlatokon. A kutatás során feltártuk, hogy a munkavállalĂł barát szervezeti gyakorlatokat leginkább a támogatĂł szervezeti kultĂşra, nyĂlt kommunikáciĂłn alapulĂł vezetĹ‘-beosztott viszony Ă©s (megfelelĹ‘ munkaszervezĂ©s esetĂ©n) a kollĂ©gák aktĂv támogatása segĂti elĹ‘. MĂg a leggyakrabban alkalmazott gyakorlatok – rugalmas munkaidĹ‘, rugalmas szerepek, folyamatos fejlĹ‘dĂ©si lehetĹ‘sĂ©gek Ă©s támogatĂł vezetĹ‘i magatartás – pozitĂv hatásaira vonatkozĂłan nagy a szervezeti egyetĂ©rtĂ©s, a hozzájuk társĂtott eltĂ©rĹ‘ jelentĂ©sek mentĂ©n már megjelennek az egyes gyakorlatok árnyoldalai, negatĂv vonatkozásai is. | We had two goals with the research: (1) to help organizations to learn from other organizations to improve their HR processes and to help its employees’ self-actualization and in this way improve the organizations’ better performances, and (2) to discover the social consequences of employers’ practices and to encourage employers to improve its practices from ethical reasons. We found that supportive organization culture, subordinate-boss relations with open communication, and active support from colleagues (in certain work systems) are the most important factors of employee friendliness. But while the most common practices – flex time, flex roles, continuous personal development, supportive superior behaviour – are known and accepted by the majority of organizational members, the different meaning connected with the practices can result negative consequences for certain subcultures within the organizations
Radical changes in the lives of international professional women with children: from airports to home offices
Purpose: This research was designed to discover the impact of restrictions connected with the COVID-
19 pandemic on the work and life of international professional women with children.
Design/methodology/approach: Qualitative, explorative research was conducted with twelve
international professional women, who were professional women with children under 12; semistructured
online interviews were used.
Findings: The radical decrease in international travel combined with an increase in online work and
the increased demand of parenting resulted in work overflow, temporary re-traditionalisation of gender
relations and a radical decrease in international mobility with respect to future prospects.
Originality: The exceptional case of the COVID-19 pandemic generated the need to understand the
new situation, especially in the life of mobile professionals and women with small children.
Research limitation: This relatively small and non-representative sample needs to be complemented
with further investigation into the social and economic consequences of restrictions connected with the
COVID-19 pandemic.
Social implication: A large-scale crisis like the pandemic-related lockdown has had a tremendous
effect on societies, including with regard to gender relations. Reflection will be needed in the
aftermath of the crises and the gender equality achieved before the lockdown needs to be rebuilt
Geert Hofstede (1928–2020)
Hofstede hivatkozásai napi szinten elérik egy jobb nemzetközi kutató egész életében elért hivatkozásszámát;
A szĂ©lesebb körben ismert dimenzionális modelleken tĂşl (Kluckhohn Ă©s Strodtbeck, Edward T. Hall, Geert Hofstede, Fons Trompenaars Ă©s Charles Hampden-Turner, Salom H. Schwartz, GLOBE-kutatás) a szerzĹ‘ röviden ismerteti a kulturális metafora (Gannon) elmĂ©letĂ©t, Ă©s három pĂ©ldával (portugál bikaviadal, izraeli kibuc Ă©s mosav, thai királyság) meg is világĂtja, miben nyĂşjt több ismeretet (megĂ©rtĂ©st) ez a kultĂşrafeltárási mĂłdszer a korábban bemutatottaknál Ă©s ugyanakkor mire nem alkalmas a mĂłdszer. VĂ©gĂĽl a kulturstandard mĂłdszer ismertetĂ©sĂ©re kerĂĽl sor, amely sajátos ötvözete az Ă©mikus Ă©s Ă©tikus kutatásoknak
Multiparadigmatikus megközelĂtĂ©s válasza a paradigmavitára
viszonyban állnak egymással, Ă©s a szakirodalomban elterjedt összeegyeztethetĹ‘sĂ©gi vitának milyen perspektĂvái
A multiparadigmatikus megközelĂtĂ©snek több
fajtáját mutatja be a cikk: a zárĂłjelbe tĂ©telt, a zárĂłjelbe tĂ©telt Ă©s hĂdverĂ©st, a hĂdverĂ©st, a párhuzamos Ă©s

Expatriate bubbles in Dubai: Expatriates from West and East Cohabitating with Locals
Purpose: Focusing on the stratification of expatriates and the boundaries between different types of
expatriates and locals, this study investigates the lived experiences and testimonies of Eastern
European expatriates and their relationships in Dubai. The purpose of this article to develop our
current knowledge on expatriates cohabiting in a cosmopolitan city by providing empirical evidence
on expatriate bubbles in Dubai.
Design/methodology/approach: Explorative qualitative research was conducted using online and faceto-
face interviews, along with a week-long intensive ethnography with observations, interviews, and
informal discussions.
Findings: Three distinct groups of people live in Dubai namely, Westerners, expatriates from the East,
and Emiratis. They hardly mingle with each other on equal terms, but they do work in a complementary
fashion. In Dubai, the status of East European experts, a subgroup of Westerners, is similar to their
Western counterparts in that they are considered European. Consequently, they experience a slight status
development in comparison to when they work in the West. The research provides evidence on social
stratification of expatriate bubbles.
Originality: Expatriate bubbles have not previously been empirically investigated from an Eastern
European perspective, nor has the unique case of Dubai been analysed extensively. Distinct expatriate
bubbles with their stratified hierarchies have been identified.
Research limitation: This very short ethnography with a relatively small number of qualitative
interviews could be complemented by a further in-depth study
NĹ‘k Ă©s fĂ©rfiak a szervezetben. KĂsĂ©rlet a mĂtoszok feloszlatására
A cikk a nĹ‘k Ă©s fĂ©rfiak szervezetekben elfoglalt helyĂ©t vizsgálja, vállaltan feminista nĂ©zĹ‘pontbĂłl.
a horizontális szegregációt (üvegfaljelenség).
Challenges of a social enterprise supporting mothers in Hungary
Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to examine how and to what extent social enterprise can contribute to
improving women’s life in Hungary.
Design/methodology/approach – The case study was based on a four-month organizational ethnographic
study of a cafe. Participant and non-participant observations were supplemented with interviews with the
founder, the manager, visitors and informal conversations with the staff and visitors. Social media
communication was also reviewed.
Findings – The empirical results from the organizational ethnography allowed us to gain insights into the
impact of the investigated organization on its target group, young mothers, in a post-socialist gender context.
The dominant post-socialist gender regime has remained almost entirely untouched and the outcome of the
operation of the social enterprise only helped women to accommodate their everyday life to their disadvantaged
social situation.
Originality/value – While previous studies have uncovered the dualistic nature of social enterprises, this
analysis shows that an award-winning and popular social enterprise in Hungary could nevertheless only
minimally influence the social situation ofwomen. In spite of the good intention of the owner, the all-encompassing
prescribed gender roles are hardly questioned, and consequently, women’s situation hardly ameliorates
