[EN]The functional approach of emotion regulation has been mainly used in the clinical context. However, other fields such as traffic psychology have also adopted this perspective, showing interest in how difficulties in emotion regulation might interfere in driving. Various driving styles have been associated with maladaptive emotion regulation. Difficulties in Emotion Regulation Scale (DERS) is the most commonly used instrument to assess ER difficulties and it is often used in the context of driving. Most studies have scored DERS by using procedures of the classical test theory approach instead of advanced psychometrics. In this study, a sample of 318 male drivers aged between 20 and 69 (M age = 41.6 years, SD = 11.0) completed the DERS. The total sample was divided in two halves: drivers with road traffic offences and matched controls. Data analysis was carried out using the Rasch Rating Scale Model (RSM). Results indicated that response categories performed inadequately. Collapsing the 5 original categories into 3 new categories was necessary. To meet the unidimensionality requirement, both the first DERS item and the awareness subscale were removed. Model-data fit was then good enough. Item Separation Reliability (ISR = 0.97) was excellent and Person Separation Reliability (PSR = 0.89) was quite good. Even though requirements of invariant measurement were met, there was low validity evidence for the driving context

[EN]The objective of this study was the validation of the Colombian version of The Quantitative Checklist for Autism in Toddlers (Q-CHAT) by means of the Rasch Rating Scale Model. The Q-CHAT was applied to parents of 100 typically developing toddlers and 40 toddlers and preschoolers with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). The Q-CHAT scores showed some limitations. The questionnaire did not meet the condition of unidimensionality. Two dimensions were detected. The first dimension, with 13 items and 4 response categories (13i-4c), showed good psychometric properties: the items fit the Rasch Rating Scale model, the reliability of persons and items was appropriate, and scores adequately discriminate between children with and without ASD. The second dimension is a measure of traits that are usually associated with ASD, but that have shown validity problems. Thus, it is proposed that dimension 1 of the Q-CHAT (13i-4c) be used as the screening tool for ASD in Colombia

[EN]Emotional regulation is characterized by a set of strategies that allow us to manage and modulate emotional components and involving behavioral, psychological and physiological changes. It is increasingly a relevant concept of study in professional practice and research. The objective of this article was to systematically analyze the empirical research on emotion regulation paying special attention to the standardized instruments used for measure it. After an exhaustive search of SCOPUS, 983 articles containing standardized instruments for the assessment of emotion regulation were analyzed. One hundred and seventy tests were found. Most of them were self-reports with Likert scale format. Test standardization was mostly carried out with adult samples, and emotion regulation was not always the target construct assessed with the original version of the tests. A large number of instruments evaluated several dimensions of emotional regulation. The use of advanced psychometric models is suggested in order to assess both dimensionality and rating scale format.[POR]A regulação emocional é caracterizada por um conjunto de estratégias que nos permitem administrar e modular os componentes emocionais e envolve mudanças comportamentais, psicológicas e fisiológicas. [EN]The assessment of emotion regulation requires not only knowledge of the construct and the tests that evaluate it, but also of the quality of those instruments. The objective of this article is to analyze, using the Revised Test Evaluation Questionnaire, the psychometric properties of the two most commonly used tests in the evaluation of emotion regulation, the Difficulties in Emotion Regulation Scale (DERS) and the Emotion Regulation Questionnaire (ERQ). We analyzed 653 articles describing studies in which these tests were used. Evidence of criterion validity differs between the two both qualitatively and quantitatively. The reliability expressed as internal consistency coefficients was positively evaluated in both tests. Given that most of the investigations used a methodology based on classical test theory, it is recommended to consider the study of the properties of these tests based on advanced psychometric models

Objective measurement of Spanish emotion vocabulary

[EN]Current research on emotion knowledge and competence emphasises the role of language. Emotion vocabulary is one of the indicators of emotion knowledge that can be objectivelymeasured; however, the metric properties of the scores obtained in tests and tasks to measure it have seldom been adequate. In this study we designed and validated a Spanish emotion vocabulary test (MOVE) employing a corpus approach to construct cloze multiple-choice items, administered the test to a Spanish-speaking sample from two countries, Spain and Argentina, and analysed structural validity of the test items with the Rasch model measurement approach. Eighty-eight items showed adequate fit. Overall, a substantial percentage of variance was explained by a latent variable. Reliability indexes at the test, item, and person level were also adequate. As a vocabulary test, the MOVE can be used in psychological and neurological investigation, as well as in language learning research

[EN]Objective: The objective of this study was to provide normative data for the 5 Objects Test in a large Spanish community sample, as well as some validity evidence. Methods: The sample was composed of 427 participants (of which 220 females, age 15 to 95 years old; educational level range: 2–17 years). Normative data are provided, as well as correlations with test scores from Benton Visual Retention test, Rey-Osterrieth Complex Figure and Mini Mental State Examination. Results: No association was found between delayed recall score and level of education, age or gender. Immediate recall score was correlated with age. Both immediate and delayed recall significantly correlated with the criteria, evidencing concurrent validity. Conclusions: It is recommended that the 5 Objects Test be used for assessing persons in primary care, including those from different linguistic backgrounds or with limited language use. Delayed recall scores are especially recommended given the lack of association with demographic variables
