    A probabilistic approach to reduce the route establishment overhead in AODV algorithm for manet

    Mobile Ad-hoc Networks (MANETS) is a collection of wireless nodes without any infrastructure support. The nodes in MANET can act as either router or source and the control of the network is distributed among nodes. The nodes in MANETS are highly mobile and it maintains dynamic interconnection between those mobile nodes. MANTEs have been considered as isolated stand-alone network. This can turn the dream of networking "at any time and at any where" into reality. The main purpose of this paper is to study the issues in route discovery process in AODV protocol for MANET. Flooding of route request message imposes major concern in route establishment. This paper suggests a new approach to reduce the routing overhead during the route discovery phase.     Meiobenthic fauna of the traditional prawn culture systems around Cochin

    The distribution and abundance of meiobenthos, hydrography and sediment characteristics of three different types of traiditonal prawn culture systems around Cochin were studied for a period of two years (1988-1990). Nematodes were the most dominant group (79.6%) of the total meiofaunal count followed by harpacticoids and polychaetes. Others like oligochaetes, bivalves, ostracods, amphipods and tanaids had only stray occurrences and together formed a meagre 0.30% of the total. The upper 0-5 cm layer harboured 79.5% of the meiofaunal population. The perennial ponds had the highest abundance of meiobenthos (69.9%) followed by canals (17.9%) and seasonal fields (12.2%): The meiobenthic biomass ranged from 0.84 mg/ 10 cm2 to 5.7 mg/lO cm2in different stations. Meiofauna did not show a significant positive correlation with the different environmental parameters. However, during the southwest monsoon period, the population showed a sharp decline. Meiobenthos were found to be abundant at stations where the sand content varied from 60-7870 and silt from 15-29%, and were lowest at stations with high clay content. High content organic carbon also did not favour a high abundance of meiofauna. The presence of nematodes(80%) in the gut content of the prawns indicates a trophic chain involving meibenthos

    A total of 200 specimens of Indian mackerel (Rastrelliger kanagurta) were collected from Kochi in the south-west coast and Chennai in the south-east coast and they were subjected to truss analysis. A truss network was constructed by interconnecting 10 landmarks to form a total of 21 truss distance variables extracted from the landmarks. The transformed truss measurements were subjected to factor analysis which revealed that there is no separation of the stocks along south-east and south-west coasts. Thus the present study has indicated that the population of Indian mackerel from south-east and south-west coasts remains the same

    <p>Abstract</p> <p>Introduction</p> <p>Malignancies are rare in defunctionalized bladders and are thought to arise from metaplasia secondary to chronic inflammation. Transitional cell and squamous cell carcinomas are the most common but there are three reported cases of mucinous adenocarcinoma.</p> <p>Case presentation</p> <p>We report a 57-year-old Caucasian man presenting with penile discharge for 30 years following ileal conduit surgery for neurogenic bladder, and who was found to have primary mucinous adenocarcinoma of his defunctionalized bladder.</p> <p>Conclusion</p> <p>Although urinary diversion without cystectomy is less common in current urologic practice, there are many patients with longstanding defunctionalized bladders. While there are no established surveillance protocols, defunctionalized bladder patients with urethral discharge should be evaluated.</p

    Two instances of gonadal abnormalities in Indian mackerel

    The Indian mackerel Rastrelliger kanagurta is known to be dioecious with male and female gonads in separate individuals. However, gonadal abnormalities such as hermaphroditism and other aberrations have been observed in a few instances. Gonadal abnormalities in mackerel observed during regular biological sampling from fish samples collected from the landing centre is reported here. For the histological analysis, the gonads were fixed in 10% neutral buffered formalin, dehydrated in ethanol series and the cleared samples were embedded in paraffin wax and made into blocks

The transformed truss measurements were subjected to factor analysis which revealed that there is no separation of the stocks along southeast and southwest coasts. The marginal differences in shape and form are attributed to the ecological differences in the habitats which is evident from differences in length weight relationships and feeding intensity of the population along these two coasts

    ABSTRACT Liposomes are structurally and functionally some of the most versatile supramolecular assemblies in existence. Since the beginning of active research on lipid vesicles in 1965, the field has progressed enormously and applications are well established in several areas, such as drug and gene delivery. The medical application of liposomes loaded with small molecular weight drugs is discussed and the use of sterically stabilized liposomes containing doxorubicin in cancer therapy is presented. The review also shows that liposomes have a lot of biomedical applications and uses. They have been used in drug targeting, oral delivery of vaccines, insulins, peptides and some compounds, which are usually degraded in the gastrointestinal tract. It has also found application in topical therapy especially in the eye and lungs. Other areas of application are in cancer chemotherapy and treatment of human immunovirus (HIV) infection. The control of the stability of liposomes is an essential prerequisite for effective use as drug carriers. Liposome immunoassays, for example, benefit greatly from the amplification provided by encapsulated markers, and nanotube-interconnected liposome networks have emerged as ultra small-scale analytical devices. This review provides information about new developments in some of the most actively researched liposome-related topics
