    The need for cheaper and faster delivery in the electronics industry has increased as a result of information technology advancements. The quick development of technology not only makes life simpler but also raises several security concerns. The number of attacks conducted online has increased as the Internet has developed through time. One of the supporting layers that can be used for information security is the intrusion detection system (IDS). IDS offers a clean atmosphere for conducting business and steers clear of shady network activity. The security on the user's end of web transactions is the most difficult task in the construction of an e-commerce system. This study examined intrusion detection security techniques. Continuous monitoring of intrusion detection is required for further technological adaptation, and as a result, presents a comparative comparison of adaptive artificial intelligence-based intrusion detection algorithms. This work shows how reinforcement learning (RL) and regression learning-based intrusion detection systems (IDS) can be used to solve extremely difficult issues, such as choosing input features and taking limited resources into account

    A STUDY ON PHYTOPLANKTON DIVERSITY IN RIVER GANGA AT ALLAHABAD, UTTAR PRADESH (INDIA)

    Presence of microscopic algae can cause taste and odour problems, water discoloration, or form large mats that can interfere with boating, swimming, and fishing. The present study was conducted to assess the phytoplankton assemblages which in turn can serve as a suitable method to assess the quality of river ecosystem. Diversity of phytoplankton in river Ganga in Allahabad at five sampling stations was conducted from March to April 2014. Plankton identified in the river mainly composed of the members of Bacillariophyceae, Chlorophyceae and Cyanophyceae families. The Palmer pollution index values were calculated to know the level of organic pollution and to support the data. On the basis of quantitative and qualitative estimates 15 significant algal species were identified which can tolerate high degree of pollution. The abundance of phytoplanktons in april was greater than in march. Abundance of phytoplanktons and algal bloom was maximum at Chhatnag ghat whereas at Sangam low phytoplankton diversity was found. In general, moderate temperature, low current velocity and high transparency of water appear to be better the conditions for algal growth in the river Ganga. These findings highlighted the deterioration of water quality of the river due to industrial, commercial and anthropogenic activities. The status of phytoplankton diversity of river Ganga was quite low indicating that the river is highly polluted

    Design, synthesis and antimicrobial evaluation of novel 2-aryl-thiazolidin-4-one derivatives

    Novel 2-arylthiazolidin-4-one derivatives (8a-q and 11) have been synthesized in good-to-excellent yields (70-96%) by one-pot three-component condensation-cyclization reaction of aromatic or aliphatic primary amines, aromatic aldehydes, and thioglycolic acid in polypropylene glycol at 110°C temperature. The in vitro antimicrobial activity of the synthesized 2-arylthiazolidin-4-ones was investigated against a panel of six pathogenic fungal strains, a Gram-positive and three Gram-negative bacteria. Results revealed that the compounds (8a-d) bearing 3-(4-(1H-imidazolylmethyl)phenyl)-substituent displayed significant antibacterial efficacy specifically against Klebsiella pneumoniae (minimum inhibitory concentration 12.5 μg/mL). In addition, some of the synthesized compounds have also shown antimicotic activity against Sporothrix schenckii, Trichophyton mentagrophytes, and Aspergillus fumigatus at the concentration of 50 μg/mL

    Assessment of Water Quality using Machine Learning and Fuzzy Techniques

    The water quality of river Ganga is an important concern due to its drinking, domestic uses, irrigation and also for aquatic life. But the extent of pollutants in river water has deteriorated the quality of river water. So, the assessment of river water becomes very important. But due to the involved subjectivity and uncertainty in the decision making parameter makes the task very complex. In this study, machine learning and fuzzy techniques are utilized to develop the river water quality assessment models. The quality of the water is grouped into three classes. Four machine learning algorithms namely decision tree, random forest tree, k-nearest neighbor and support vector machine are used and implemented on python and anaconda platform. Whereas, three fuzzy based models (fuzzy decision tree, wang-mendel and fast prototyping) are developed using Guaje open source software. All the seven models are analyzed in terms of accuracy, precision, recall and f1-score. The observed result shows that the fuzzy decision tree-based assessment model performs more accurately as compared with the machine learning based models

    Facebook an Anti-Stereotyping Tool: A Case Study

    Facebook, the most popular social media (SM) platform has penetrated every nook and corner of the world. SM is now treated as the ‘fifth Estate’, other than legislative, executive, judiciary, and mainstream media. The power of SM as a critique is widely acknowledged. Establishments are finding it difficult to deal with it at times. Due to its ease of usage and relative anonymity, the general public finds it very convenient to put across their viewpoints, even if it’s against the establishment. Some establishments at times are at loggerheads with champions of freedom of speech including civil rights activists. SM has been used for propaganda, marketing, and awareness campaigns. In this paper, we are proposing to use this powerful tool towards social change. Through a case study, a detailed process is being proposed for using social media particularly Facebook as an anti-stereotyping tool. The response to an online survey, the outcome of opinion min-ing, and the enthusiastic response to our case study by the targeted audience validate our hypothesis that Facebook can be effectively utilized as an anti-stereotyping tool

    Drinking water sources are regularly polluted by various human activities that cause severe health problem all over the world. In recent years, water quality research has drawn great attention from scientific communities. A lot number of tools and techniques are used for proper water quality analysis, monitoring and assessment. This paper includes brief information about some of the them namely, physio-chemical water analysis (PCWA), adsorption, metal pollution index (MPI), water quality index (WQI), water quality modelling tools (WQMT) and multivariable statistical models that include five multivariate data mining approaches i.e. cluster analysis (CA), principal component analysis (PCA), factor analysis (FA), multiple linear regression analysis (MLRA), discriminant analysis (DA).     Energy Expenditure and Nutritional Status of Sailors and Submarine Crew of the Indian Navy

    Nutritional requirements of sailors and submariners are different from those of ground forces as they work under confined environment as well as due to logistic constraints of cooking and storage of food. Study was conducted for a period of three months at Eastern Naval Command to evaluate nutrient requirements, nutritional status of Indian Navy personnel and adequacy of the existing ration scales. The study volunteers were from crew of two warships (n = 35) and submariners (n = 20) who were attached to their mother ships during time of data collection and offshore during rest of the period. Energy expenditure, nutrient intake, level of nutrients in body, and urinary excretion were measured along with changes in body composition. All variables were analysed before and after three months of nutritional monitoring. Energy expenditure at ship was in the range of 2449-4907 kcal/day with a mean of 3313 + 578 kcal/day, while in the case of submariners, it was 3168 + 282 (2606-3907) kcal/day. The energy intake in the case of sailors and submariners was not different either on shore establishment or at ship. Energy intake was found to be 3518 + 286 kcal/day. The energy contribution from carbohydrates, fats, and protein was 59.9 per cent, 27.8 per cent and 12.3 per cent, respectively. No sign and symptoms of any nutritional deficiency were observed either initially or after three months. Status of micronutrients present in their blood and in their urinary excretions along with body composition were maintained, indicating adequacy of existing ration scales of Indian Navy.Defence Science Journal, 2011, 61(6), pp.540-544, DOI:http://dx.doi.org/10.14429/dsj.61.93

    Optical control of in-plane domain configuration and domain wall motion in ferroelectric and ferroelastic

    The sensitivity of ferroelectric domain walls to external stimuli makes them functional entities in nanoelectronic devices. Specifically, optically driven domain reconfiguration with in-plane polarization is advantageous and thus highly sought. Here, we show the existence of in-plane polarized sub-domains imitating a single domain state and reversible optical control of its domain wall movement in a single-crystal of ferroelectric BaTiO3. Similar optical control in the domain configuration of non-polar ferroelastic material indicates long-range ferroelectric polarization is not essential for the optical control of domain wall movement. Instead, flexoelectricity is found to be an essential ingredient for the optical control of the domain configuration and hence, ferroelastic materials would be another possible candidate for nanoelectronic device applications
