Purpose: The purpose of this study is to assess how the customers’ contribution impels employee innovative behavior in hospitality services with respect to the mediating role of interpersonal trust in selected hotels in Sri Lanka. Design/methodology/approach: Based on the existing literature, conceptual model is created with the dependent variable of employee innovative behavior, independent variable of customer participation and the mediating variable of interpersonal trust. A total of 391 acceptable questionnaires were obtained out of 500 questionnaires distributed comprisesing 198 and 193 frontline employees and customers respectively (convenient sampling was used) in three to five star hotels in Sri Lanka. The collected data were analyzed using inferential statistics. Findings: The quantitative survey divulges that there is a significant positive effect between customer participation and employee innovative behavior and interpersonal trust. In addition, a study reveals that increasing the level of interpersonal trust between customers and employees may boost employee innovative capacity. Hence it is proved that customer participation has an indirect significant effect on employee innovative behavior through interpersonal trust. Originality: This study contributes to fill out the existing knowledge gap and it helps to improve the innovations in the service sector with the appropriate climate of information exchange.   Implications: According to the results, increasing consumer involvement in service design and delivery improves employee novelty. Meanwhile developing trust between the parties enhances the relationship as well as it will enhance the creative power of employees in hospitality services. This study contributed to the hospitality industry on innovative ideas which makes customer participation as a tool for their novelty in the Sri Lankan context. Objective: The main aim of this study was to evaluate the antioxidants present in Sesbania grandiflora (L.) Pers. belongs to the family Fabaceae. Methods: Fresh samples were used for the analysis of antioxidants such as total phenol, carotenoids, Vitamin-A, Vitamin-C, Vitamin-E, peroxidase (POD), catalase (CAT), superoxide dismutase (SOD), ascorbate peroxidase, monodehydroascorbate reductase, and glutathione reductase by standard estimation methods. Results: Present studies revealed that this wild leafy plant has numerous antioxidant factors that destroying the free radicals that damage the cells. Conclusion: S. grandiflora contain many enzymatic and non-enzymatic antioxidants and could be a good source of dietary antioxidants which play an important role in the prevention of diseases associated with oxidative stress

Is radial head resection a menace for the clinical outcomes of the elbow for comminuted radial head fractures?

Background: Radial head fractures are about 20% of all the elbow fractures. Comminuted radial head fractures can cause great impairment on upper extremity functional status. In older times, radial head resection was the treatment of choice for comminuted radial head fractures. Recently, radial head implant arthroplasty has become popular for fractures that could not be fixed. In this study, we assess the clinical outcomes in patients who underwent Radial head resection in Indian population of the productive age group. Methods: Prospective study of 15 patients of age more than 18 and less than 50 years of age, who have underwent radial head resection for Mason type III radial head fractures. Outcomes were evaluated according to the Mayo Elbow Performance Score at 3 months, 6 months and at 1 year follow up.Results: We observed that 80% of our patients were pain free at the end of 1 year and 20% had minimal to moderate pain. About 80% of our patients regained their “functional range” of movements. 12 of our patients had a stable elbow joint and only 3 patients complained of minimal to moderate instability after the procedure. 87% of our patients had a good to excellent functional outcome at the end. The mean Mayo elbow performance score was 92.3 which is graded as excellent and did not have any significant complications to hinder the clinical outcome. Conclusions: Radial head resection yields a good to excellent clinical results in young Indian population with isolated comminuted radial head fractures

A Hybrid Peripheral Giant Cell Granuloma-Peripheral Ossifying Fibroma Lesion Presenting as a Solitary Gingival Enlargement

Clinical and radiographic presentations of gingival enlargements often overlap. Definitive diagnosis is made after histological evaluation of excised tissues. Sometimes this is also confusing because it may show features of different clinical entities producing a diagnostic dilemma. Hybrid lesions are lesions which present features from different pathologies. We present a case of hybrid lesion which shows features of peripheral giant cell granuloma (PGCG) and Peripheral ossifying fibroma (POsF) presenting as solitary gingival enlargement involving the maxilla in a 57 year old female patient. The clinical, radiographic and histological features are described in detail. The purpose of this paper is to highlight the importance of thorough evaluation of hybrid lesion to get a proper diagnosis, understand their biologic behaviour and plan treatment to minimise tissue destruction and prevent recurrence. This case also points to the need to reconsider our diagnostic criteria of various enlargements and incorporate hybrid lesions as distinct clinical entit

In this paper, we present an ion-exchanged Yb-glass waveguide amplifier, seeded by an ion-exchanged Yb-glass waveguide laser demonstrating a gain as high as 10 dB. We also present multi-GHz, mode-locked ion-exchanged waveguide lasers and discuss the development of a fully integrated high-power, multi-GHz waveguide sourc

Background: Specific factors that increases a mother’s risk of carrying a fetus with CHD, with the use of extended views in fetal echocardiography in addition to basic standard views there is increased detection of CHDs. Purpose of study current study was to investigate the role of fetal echocardiography in prenatal diagnosis of the congenital heart diseases in high-risk pregnancies between 18-36 weeks of gestational age and to determine the proportion of occurrences of different types of CHDs in and high-risk group. Methods: Observational study with consecutive sampling 880 subjects. Study done in department of radiodiagnosis, SNMC, Jodhpur, RajasthanResults: With use of basic standard views, extended views and 3D views total 27 cases were detected out of all 880 subjects, which is significant statistically. Many CHDs which can be missed by the standard views, can be more efficiently detected with use of extended views in the fetal echocardiography. Conclusions: Most common type of CHD was found to be VSD and hypoplastic left heart syndrome
