Artisanal marine fisheries in the Department of Magdalena, Colombia: management and conservation
Marine fish captured by artisan fleet landings from Magdalena Department were evaluated using four components: species categorization, threat identification, management strategies and resilience factors. Inappropriate fishing methods and priority areas for conservation were evaluated. There was 18 fish species for prior conservation from 231 evaluated. Fishing gears as chinchorro (palanca), cabuy贸n and for shrimp, gill net and hand line, showed increased pressure on fish resources. Punta Gaira, El Morro island and Mendihuaca, Guachaca, Buritaca and Palomino river mouths were proposed as important conservation areas, in addition to the Parque Nacional Natural Tayrona, PNNT
