Capecitabine removal from water using commercial granular activated carbon

    Get PDF
The aim of this study consisted of removal of capecitabine (CCB), a cytostatic that is often used in cancer therapy and its presence in water exhibited negative impact and risk on the human health. Granular activated carbon (GAC) was tested as sorbent in batch system for CCB removal from water, considering its common usage in water/wastewater treatment technology. Influence of operation variables, e.g, pH, GAC dose and CCB initial concentrations, was studied to optimize GAC-based sorption for CCB removal

Aluminium/iron mixed oxides obtained by co-precipitation method

    Get PDF
In last years, various synthesis methods have been used for production of nanomaterials, composites/nanocomposites. For preparation of catalysts are used different methods such as hydrothermal, sol-gel and co-precipitation. Because Fe2O3 -Al2O3 mixed oxide system offer many advantages, its important to know if the combination of two transition metal oxides can affect their stoichiometry, surface, catalytic properties and textural structure. The aim of this study is represented by mixed of oxides who was obtained from the synthesis of aluminum nitrate and iron nitrate who was prepared by the co-precipitation method. Then, the characterization studies about the compounds obtained such as hematite, magnetite and the alumina were performed by X-Ray Diffraction (XRD), Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), and UV-Vis spectrophotometry

    Dual D-Brane Actions

Dual super Dp-brane actions are constructed by carrying out a duality transformation of the world-volume U(1) gauge field. The resulting world-volume actions, which contain a (p - 2)-form gauge field, are shown to have the expected properties. Specifically, the D1-brane and D3-brane transform in ways that can be understood on the basis of the SL(2, Z) duality of type IIB superstring theory. Also, the D2-brane and the D4-brane transform in ways that are expected on the basis of the relationship between type IIA superstring theory and 11d M theory. For example, the dual D4-brane action is shown to coincide with the double-dimensional reduction of the recently constructed M5-brane action. The implications for gauge-fixed D-brane actions are discussed briefly.Comment: 18 pages, latex, no figures; references adde

Porous SNO2/TI dimensionally stable anode for degradation of pollutants from water : synthesis and morphostructural characterization

    Get PDF
In this work, the protocol based on Doctor-Blade method for synthesis of porous SnO2/Ti dimensionally stable anode suitable for advanced treatment of water/wastewater is presented. Prior to SnO2/Ti synthesis, SnO2 was obtained by sol-gel method using SnCl2 as Sn precusor and polyethylene glycol. The morpho-structural characterization through X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy coupled with energy-dispesive X-ray (SEM/EDX) confirmed an uniform deposition of SnO2 mesoporous on the Ti surface with typical mud cracked-like structure, which should be suitable for the further water treatment application

    Gauge-Invariant and Gauge-Fixed D-Brane Actions

The first part of this paper presents actions for Dirichlet p-branes embedded in a flat 10-dimensional space-time. The fields of the (p+1)-dimensional world-volume theories are the 10d space-time coordinates Xm X^m, a pair of Majorana-Weyl spinors θ1\theta_1 and θ2\theta_2, and a U(1) gauge field AμA_{\mu}. The N = 2A or 2B super-Poincare group in ten dimensions is realized as a global symmetry. In addition, the theories have local symmetries consisting of general coordinate invariance of the world volume, a local fermionic symmetry (called ``kappa''), and U(1) gauge invariance. A detailed proof of the kappa symmetry is given that applies to all cases (p = 0,1, . . ., 9). The second part of the paper presents gauge-fixed versions of these theories. The fields of the 10d (p = 9) gauge-fixed theory are a single Majorana-Weyl spinor λ\lambda and the U(1) gauge field AμA_{\mu}. This theory, whose action turns out to be surprisingly simple, is a supersymmetric extension of 10d Born-Infeld theory. It has two global supersymmetries: one represents an unbroken symmetry, and the second corresponds to a broken symmetry for which λ\lambda is the Goldstone fermion. The gauge-fixed supersymmetric D-brane theories with p<9p<9 can be obtained from the 10d one by dimensional reduction.Comment: 33 pages, latex, no figures; revised as requested by refere
