Death of a Sales Man illuminated that a Resistance of Realism Play

Arthur Miller was a realist. His plays deal with real characters and events. His characters use an idiom of the common man. Their problems relate to every common man of this world. This joys are our own their miseries like those of ours. Miller's realism is based on the observations of life. He studied not merely the environment but the inside of his characters too. His plays are not escape from romanticism either. Miller believes that romanticism was a part and parcel of majority of people. So he favours a synthesis of determinism and a paradox of will. His plays are concerned with the identity of self. Some of them touch upon the generativity also

Objective: Diabetes mellitus is a set of metabolic disease in which there is increased blood sugar level over a long period. The objective of the study is in silico design of quinoxaline bearing thiazolidinone derivatives as peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor gamma (PPARγagonist in diabetes mellitus. Methods: In silico design of proposed derivatives was conducted by ACD Lab ChemSketch 12.0 and derivatives obeying Lipinski’s rule of five were selected for docking studies. Docking was carried out using AutoDock Vina software. Results: Molinspiration results revealed that the designed derivatives had physical and chemical properties meant for an orally available drug. Based on the docking results derivatives, QNT1 and QNT2 exhibited high docking score which indicates that these derivatives possess high-affinity and high polar interaction toward protein 1PRG (ligand-binding domain of human peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor gamma). Conclusion: The designed quinoxaline bearing thiazolidinone derivatives were found to possess good binding affinity and good interaction in the binding pocket of target 1PRG, so these derivatives are expected to exhibit good antidiabetic property with minimal side effects

Ferry Route Design with MAC Protocol in Delay Tolerant Networks

Delay Tolerant Networks(DTNs) are occasionally connected networks. They have high latency, long queuing time, limited resources and intermittent connectivity, which are different from traditional networks. They have been proposed to cope with challenges of communication in some extreme or special environments. Due to uncertainty of node mobility, application traffic demand and other factors, it is difficult to provide performance guarantee for a DTN where all nodes move arbitrarily. With controlled mobility, message ferry can be utilized to guarantee the network performance. MAC protocols developed for duty-cycled networks such as B-MAC,S-MAC, employ an extended preamble introduces X-MAC employs shortened preamble approach that retains the advantages of low power listening, namely low power communication, simplicity and a decoupling of transmitter and receiver schedules. Demonstrate through implementation and evaluation that xmac?s shortened preamble approach significantly reduces energy usage at both transmitter and receiver, reduces per-hop latency

AIM OF THE STUDY: To estimate the levels of 14-3-3η levels in rheumatoid arthritis patients and establish its role in the pathogenesis and diagnosis of the disease. METHODS: The study design was prospective, randomized, single blinded, case control study with 60 patients and 30 controls. The patients were subdivided into two groups as group1: rheumatoid factor positive patients and group 2: rheumatoid factor negative patients. 14-3-3 eta protein were estimated in the patients and the control using ELISA method. And other parameters like rheumatoid factor, ACPA, CRP, ESR were estimated and results were evaluated. RESULTS: It was observed that the mean value of 14-3-3 eta protein of cases and control resulted to significantly different (p<0.05) and the mean value of RF positive cases, negative cases and controls also resulted to be statistically significant (p<0.05). Positive correlation was established between RF and 14-3-3η protein. CONCLUSION: 14-3-3η protein along with other existing markers has a significant value in the diagnosis of rheumatoid arthritis for earlier diagnosis and prevention of deformity

Endometrial osseous metaplasia: clinicopathological study of a case and literature review

Get PDF
Endometrial ossification is a rare clinical condition related to menstrual disturbances and infertility. Its etiology and pathogenesis are controversial. The commonly accepted hypothesis is that ossification represents retained fetal bones following spontaneous or therapeutic abortion suggesting enchondral ossification. It can also be due to transformation of mesenchymal tissue to bone in response to chronic inflammation. We present one such case in a 41 year old woman who presented with menorrhagia and dysmenorrhoea following induced abortion 16 years back at 12 weeks of gestation. The patient underwent hysterectomy. We also present a literature review

Get PDF
The present study is an attempt to find out the amelioration of urea and ascorbic acid on the inhibitory effect of cement dust on Oryza Sativa (Var. B.P.T.5204). The observations have shown that rice was quite sensitive to cement dust when applied at 3g/m2 daily from three leaf stage until harvest of the crop. The response was analysed in terms of number of leaves, total height, biomass and panicle characters. Urea and ascorbic acid were observed to be quite potent in reverting the inhibitory effect of cement dust. Urea could bring the maximum recovery in shoot and root biomass. These two substances were very useful in reverting the effect of cement dust in terms of height of the plant. Urea increased seed weight upto 35% while ascorbic acid upto 13.4%

Objective: Subclinical hypothyroidism (SCH) with thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) less than 10 µIU/ml is a common finding discovered duringroutine thyroid function testing. Thyroxine substitution and its benefits to alleviate dyslipidemia and oxidative stress (OXs) markers at this stage area matter of debate. Methods: This study aimed to investigate the influence of thyroxine substitution on lipid profile and OXs markers in newly diagnosed SCH subjects. The study included a total number of 50 newly diagnosed (20 treated and 30 untreated), SCH subjects aged 20-50 years with (TSH<10 µIU/ml), andfree thyroxine (FT4) levels in the normal range. Patients on medications that could cause thyroid hormone dysfunction, diabetes mellitus, and currentor pregnancy during the last 2 years were excluded from the study. Serum TSH, T3, T4, FT4, anti-thyroid peroxidase antibodies, total cholesterol (TC),high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL), triglycerides (TG), low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL), and ischemia modified albumin (IMA) weredetermined in all subjects at baseline and after 9 months. Results: After thyroxine replacement, a significant decrease in TSH, LDL, IMA and an increase in FT4 were observed. The decrease in TC was notstatistically evident. There was no significant change in T3, T4, TG, HDL, after treatment. The untreated group showed an insignificant increase onlyin TSH.Conclusion: Thyroid substitution therapy has a favorable influence on lipid profile and OXs, where it particularly reduced LDL and IMA

The objective of the study is to find out whether the endothelial nitric oxide synthase (eNOS) G894T single-nucleotide polymorphism is associated with type 2 diabetes mellitus in South Indian (Tamil) population. A total number of 260 subjects comprising 100 type 2 diabetic mellitus patients and 160 healthy individuals with no documented history of diabetes were included for the study. DNA was isolated, and eNOS G894T genotyping was performed using the polymerase chain reaction followed by restriction enzyme analysis using Ban II. The genotype distribution in patients and controls were compatible with the Hardy-Weinberg expectations (P > 0.05). Odds ratio indicates that the occurrence of mutant genotype (GT/TT) was 7.2 times (95% CI = 4.09–12.71) more frequent in the cases than in controls. Thus, the present study demonstrates that there is an association of endothelial nitric oxide synthase gene (G894T) polymorphism with diabetes mellitus among South Indians
