Flexible Neural Network Architecture for Handwritten Signatures Recognition

    Get PDF
This article illustrates modeling of flexible neural networks for handwritten signatures preprocessing. An input signature is interpolated to adjust inclination angle, than descriptor vector is composed. This information is preprocessed in proposed flexible neural network architecture, in which some neurons are becoming crucial for recognition and adapt to classification purposes. Experimental research results are compared in benchmark tests with classic approach to discuss efficiency of proposed solution

Classification of Non-Conventional Ships Using a Neural Bag-Of-Words Mechanism

    No full text
The existing methods for monitoring vessels are mainly based on radar and automatic identification systems. Additional sensors that are used include video cameras. Such systems feature cameras that capture images and software that analyzes the selected video frames. Methods for the classification of non-conventional vessels are not widely known. These methods, based on image samples, can be considered difficult. This paper is intended to show an alternative way to approach image classification problems; not by classifying the entire input data, but smaller parts. The described solution is based on splitting the image of a ship into smaller parts and classifying them into vectors that can be identified as features using a convolutional neural network (CNN). This idea is a representation of a bag-of-words mechanism, where created feature vectors might be called words, and by using them a solution can assign images a specific class. As part of the experiment, the authors performed two tests. In the first, two classes were analyzed and the results obtained show great potential for application. In the second, the authors used much larger sets of images belonging to five vessel types. The proposed method indeed improved the results of classic approaches by 5%. The paper shows an alternative approach for the classification of non-conventional vessels to increase accuracy

Ensemble machine learning approaches for webshell detection in Internet of things environments

    Get PDF
The Internet of things (IoT), made up of a massive number of sensor devices interconnected, can be used for data exchange, intelligent identification, and management of interconnected “things.” IoT devices are proliferating and playing a crucial role in improving the living quality and living standard of the people. However, the real IoT is more vulnerable to attack by countless cyberattacks from the Internet, which may cause privacy data leakage, data tampering and also cause significant harm to society and individuals. Network security is essential in the IoT system, and Web injection is one of the most severe security problems, especially the webshell. To develop a safe IoT system, in this article, we apply essential machine learning models to detect webshell to build secure solutions for IoT network. Future, ensemble methods including random forest (RF), extremely randomized trees (ET), and Voting are used to improve the performances of these machine learning models. We also discuss webshell detection in lightweight and heavyweight computing scenarios for different IoT environments. Extensive experiments have been conducted on these models to verify the validity of webshell intrusion. Simulation results show that RF and ET are suitable for lightweight IoT scenarios, and Voting method is effective for heavyweight IoT scenarios

Small Lung Nodules Detection based on Fuzzy-Logic and Probabilistic Neural Network with Bio-inspired Reinforcement Learning

Internal organs, like lungs, are very often examined by the use of screening methods. For this purpose we present an evaluation model based on a composition of fuzzy system combined with a neural network. The input image is evaluated by means of custom rules which use type-1 fuzzy membership functions. The results are forwarded to a neural network for final evaluation. Our model was validated by using X ray images with lung nodules. The results shows the high performances of our approach with sensitivity and specificity reaching almost 95% and 90% respectively, with an accuracy of 92.56%. The new methodology lower considerably the computational demands and increases detection performances
