New constraints on cosmic polarization rotation from the ACTPol cosmic microwave background B-Mode polarization observation and the BICEP2 constraint update
Recently ACTPol has measured the cosmic microwave background (CMB) B-mode and
E-mode polarizations and obtained TE, EE, BB, TB and EB power spectra in the
multipole range 225-8725. In our previous paper (Ap. J. 792 (2014) 35 [Paper
I]), we have analyzed jointly the results of three experiments on the CMB
B-mode polarization -- SPTpol, POLARBEAR and BICEP2 to include in the model, in
addition to the gravitational lensing and the inflationary gravitational waves
components, also the fluctuation effects induced by the cosmic polarization
rotation (CPR), if it exists within the upper limits at the time. In this
paper, we fit both the mean CPR angle and its fluctuation
from the new ACTPol data, and update our fitting of CPR
fluctuations using BICEP2 data taking the new Planck dust measurement results
into consideration. We follow the method of Paper I. The mean CPR angle is
constrained from the EB correlation power spectra to || < 14 mrad
(0.8{\deg}) and the fluctuation (rms) is constrained from the BB correlation
power spectra to 1/2 < 29.3 mrad (1.68{\deg}). Assuming that
the polarization angle of Tau A does not change from 89.2 to 146 GHz, the
ACTPol data give = 1.0 {\pm} 0.63{\deg}. These results suggest that
the inclusion of the present ACTPol data is consistent with no CPR detection.
With the new Planck dust measurement, we update our fits of the BICEP2 CPR
fluctuation constraint to be 32.8 mrad (1.88{\deg}). The joint
ACTpol-BICEP2-POLARBEAR CPR fluctuation constraint is 23.7 mrad (1.36{\deg}).Comment: 15 pages, 2 figures, 2 tables, version to match the accepted

Dataset Obfuscation: Its Applications to and Impacts on Edge Machine Learning
Obfuscating a dataset by adding random noises to protect the privacy of
sensitive samples in the training dataset is crucial to prevent data leakage to
untrusted parties for edge applications. We conduct comprehensive experiments
to investigate how the dataset obfuscation can affect the resultant model
weights - in terms of the model accuracy, Frobenius-norm (F-norm)-based model
distance, and level of data privacy - and discuss the potential applications
with the proposed Privacy, Utility, and Distinguishability (PUD)-triangle
diagram to visualize the requirement preferences. Our experiments are based on
the popular MNIST and CIFAR-10 datasets under both independent and identically
distributed (IID) and non-IID settings. Significant results include a trade-off
between the model accuracy and privacy level and a trade-off between the model
difference and privacy level. The results indicate broad application prospects
for training outsourcing in edge computing and guarding against attacks in
Federated Learning among edge devices.Comment: 6 page
The Design and Realization for a Multiplex Time Sequence Controller
AbstractIn order to meet the demand of activating several devices at different moments, a multiplex time sequence controller is developed in this paper. When the controller receives the trigger signal for starting, the time sequential control circuit module, consisting of the microcontroller and the FPGA, it can generate a delay trigging signal according to the preset delay value, which will activate the testing device after being driven. The delay value is import by the computer or the dial on the panel. The real firing results show that the time sequence controller can realize the delay of 20-channel independently, one of which is able to be adjustable within 0∼10s, the maximum amplitude of output delay trigging signal is 12V, the width of the signal is 5ms and the error of the delay time is less than 2colons. The multiplex time sequence controller can satisfy the requirements of technical specifications of testing system in conventional shooting range, and it can meet the demand of activating several testing devices operating at different moments
