    High capacitance electrode materials based on layered double hydroxides prepared by non-aqueous precipitation

    Supercapacitors that have been actively sought for electricity storage and many metal oxides/hydroxides, including transition metal-containing layered double hydroxides (LDHs), have been widely investigated. In this research, Co- or Mn-containing LDHs were prepared through precipitation in methanol, followed by the hydrothermal treatment and dispersion in water. As-prepared LDHs showed a relatively high capacitance (13-140 F g(-1)) at the scanning rate of 1 mV s(-1) and a current load of 20 mA g(-1) using 6 M KOH as an electrolyte. Calcination of LDHs at 400 degrees C (e.g. LDOs) normally enhances the exposure of electrochemical active species, but can lead to an increase or a decrease of the specific surface area, with a specific capacitance of 50-210 F g(-1). We have also noted that the capacitance of both LDOs and LDHs remains stable after 100-500 cycles. The possible mechanism of electron transfer was considered based on the cyclic voltammograms and physicochemical features of LDHs and LDOs. (C) 2012 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved

    In the 21st century, natural disasters and emergencies occur frequently worldwide, which leads to the loss of hundreds of thousands of lives as well as the direct and indirect economic losses. China has a vast territory frequently struck by natural disasters. However, the reality is not optimistic. Poor organization and management during the rescue actions, the lack of large-scale, systematic medical rescue equipment were all great barriers to the outcomes. Mobile hospitals are expected to provide better health care. We were inspired by the concept of mobile hospital. Chongqing Emergency Medical Center, has set up trauma care system since 1988, in which prehospital care, intensive care, and in-hospital treatment is fully integrated. As a major advantage, such a system provided assurance of ā€œgolden hourā€ rescue treatment. Providing mobile intensive care and prehospital surgical service for severe trauma patients could reduce mortality significantly. Based on the civilian experiences in Chongqing Emergency Medical Center, the mobile emergency (surgical) hospital was developed

    Determination of the number of Ļˆ(3686)\psi(3686) events at BESIII

    The numbers of Ļˆ(3686) events accumulated by the BESIII detector for the data taken during 2009 and 2012 are determined to be and , respectively, by counting inclusive hadronic events, where the uncertainties are systematic and the statistical uncertainties are negligible. The number of events for the sample taken in 2009 is consistent with that of the previous measurement. The total number of Ļˆ(3686) events for the two data taking periods is
