Aspects of the Reproductive Biology and Growth of the Mississippi Silvery Minnow, \u3ci\u3e Hybognathus nuchalis \u3c/i\u3e(Agassiz, 1855) (Teleostei: Cyprinidae) from the Pearl River, Louisiana.
The reproductive biology and growth of the Mississippi Silvery Minnow, Hybognathus nuchalis, is described from multiple sites in the Pearl River, Louisiana. Individuals were collected from August 2011 to August 2012. Ovarian weights, expressed as a percentage of body weights, peaked in December. Size structure ranged from 29.0 to 60.0 mm SL for females and 25.0 to 56.0 mm SL for males. Mature ova were found from November to January. Females reached first maturity (L50) at 37.0 mm SL and L50 for males is at 41.0 mm SL. Sex ratio (females:males) is biased towards females (X2= 18.57 p \u3c 0.05). Fecundity of mature individuals ranged from 118 to 830 ova (mean 433±256.8 SD) in fish 30-50 mm SL. There was negative allometric growth for both sexes and there was a significant relationship significant between SL and body weight for both sex (R2=0.9, p\u3c0.05)
Checklist of the Inland Fishes of Louisiana
Since the publication of Freshwater Fishes of Louisiana (Douglas, 1974) and a revised checklist (Douglas and Jordan, 2002), much has changed regarding knowledge of inland fishes in the state. An updated reference on Louisianaâs inland and coastal fishes is long overdue. Inland waters of Louisiana are home to at least 224 species (165 primarily freshwater, 28 primarily marine, and 31 euryhaline or diadromous) in 45 families. This checklist is based on a compilation of fish collections records in Louisiana from 19 data providers in the Fishnet2 network (www.fishnet2.net). The checklist has grown because of descriptions of three new species, new distribution records of both native and non-native species, and the addition numerous of marine species that are known to enter freshwaters in Louisiana

1 nA beam position monitoring system
A system has been developed at Jefferson Lab for measuring transverse position of very low current beams delivered to the Experimental Hall B of the Continuous Electron Beam Accelerator Facility (CEBAF). At the heart of the system is a position sensitive cavity operating at 1497 MHz. The cavity utilizes a unique design which achieves a high sensitivity to beam position at a relatively low cavity Q. The cavity output RF signal is processed using a down-converter and a commercial lock-in amplifier operating at 100 kHz. The system interfaces with a VME based EPICS control system using the IEEE, 488 bus. The main features of the system are simple and robust design, and wide dynamic range capable of handling beam currents from 1 nA to 1000 nA with an expected resolution better than 100 {mu}m. Reasoning with comparative moral judgements: an argument for Moral Bayesianism
The paper discusses the notion of reasoning with comparative moral judgements
(i.e judgements of the form âact a is morally superior to act bâ) from the point of view of several meta-ethical positions. Using a simple formal result, it is argued that only a version of moral cognitivism that is committed to the claim that moral beliefs come in degrees can give a normatively plausible account of such reasoning. Some implications of accepting such a version of moral cognitivism are discussed
Energy Losses (Gains) of Massive Coloured Particles in Stochastic Colour Medium
The propagation of massive coloured particles in stochastic background
chromoelectric field is studied using the semiclassical equations of motion.
Depending on the nature of the stochastic background we obtain the formulae for
the energy losses of heavy coloured projectile in nonperturbative hadronic
medium and for the energy gains in the stochastic field present, e.g., in the
turbulent plasma. The result appears to be significantly dependent on the form

Post-yield Relaxation Behavior of Bovine Cancellous Bone
Relaxation studies were conducted on specimens of bovine cancellous bone at post-yield strains. Stress and strain were measured for 1000 s and the relaxation modulus was determined. Fifteen cylindrical, cancellous bone specimens were removed from one bovine femur in the anteriorâposterior direction. The relaxation modulus was found to be a function of strain. Therefore cancellous bone is non-linearly viscoelastic/viscoplastic in the plastic region. A power law regression was ïŹt to the relaxation modulus data. The multiplicative constant was found to be statistically related through a power law relationship to both strain (p \u3c 0.0005) and apparent density (p \u3c 0.0005) while the power coefïŹcient was found to be related through a power law relationship, E(t, Δ)= A(Δ)t-n(Δ), to strain (p \u3c 0.0005), but not apparent density
Low energy onset of nuclear shadowing in photoabsorption
The early onset of nuclear shadowing in photoabsorption at low photon
energies has recently been interpreted as a possible signature of a decrease of
the rho meson mass in nuclei. We show that one can understand this early onset
within simple Glauber theory if one takes the negative real part of the rho N
scattering amplitudes into account, corresponding to a higher effective mass of
the rho meson in nuclear medium.Comment: REVTEX, 9 pages, including 4 eps figure
Nuclear shadowing at low photon energies
We calculate the shadowing effect in nuclear photoabsorption at low photon
energies (1-3 GeV) within a multiple scattering approach. We avoid some of the
high energy approximations that are usually made in simple Glauber theory like
the narrow width and the eikonal approximation. We find that the main
contribution to nuclear shadowing at low energies stems from mesons
with masses well below their pole mass. We also show that the possibility of
scattering in non forward directions allows for a new contribution to shadowing
at low energies: the production of neutral pions as intermediate hadronic
states enhances the shadowing effect in the onset region. For light nuclei and
small photon energies they give rise to about 30% of the total shadowing
