Massive 4D, N = 1 Superspin 1 & 3/2 Multiplets and Dualities
Lagrangians for several new off-shell 4D, N = 1 supersymmetric descriptions
of massive superspin-1 and superspin-3/2 multiplets are described. Taken
together with the models previously constructed, there are now four off-shell
formulations for the massive gravitino multiplet (superspin-1) and six
off-shell formulations for the massive graviton multiplet (superspin-3/2).

Deeply subrecoil two-dimensional Raman cooling
We report the implementation of a two-dimensional Raman cooling scheme using
sequential excitations along the orthogonal axes. Using square pulses, we have
cooled a cloud of ultracold Cesium atoms down to an RMS velocity spread of
0.39(5) recoil velocity, corresponding to an effective temperature of 30 nK
(0.15 T_rec). This technique can be useful to improve cold atom atomic clocks,

Ferromagnetic material in the eastern red-spotted newt notophthalmus viridescens
Behavioral results obtained from the eastern red-spotted newt (Notophthalmus viridescens) led to the suggestion of a hybrid homing system involving inputs from both a light-dependent and a non-light-dependent mechanism. To evaluate the possible role of a receptor based on biogenic magnetite in this animal, we performed magnetometry experiments on a set of newts previously used in behavioral assays. The natural remanent magnetization (NRM) carried by these newts was strong enough to be measured easily using a direct-current-biased superconducting quantum interference device functioning as a moment magnetometer. Isothermal remanent magnetizations were two orders of magnitude higher than the NRM, suggesting that ferromagnetic material consistent with magnetite is present in the body of the newt. The NRM has no preferential orientation among the animals when analyzed relative to their body axis, and the demagnetization data show that, overall, the magnetic material grains are not aligned parallel to each other within each newt. Although the precise localization of the particles was not possible, the data indicate that magnetite is not clustered in a limited area. A quantity of single-domain magnetic material is present which would be adequate for use in either a magnetic intensity or direction receptor. Our data, when combined with the functional properties of homing, suggest a link between this behavioral response and the presence of ferromagnetic material, raising the possibility that magnetite is involved at least in the map component of homing of the eastern red-spotted newt

Students‘ interactions in digital learning environments are distributed over time and space, and many aspects of eLearning phenomenon cannot be investigated using traditional research approaches. At the same time, the possibility to collect digital data about students‘ online interactions and learning opens a range of new opportunities to use ICT as research tool and apply new research approaches. This symposium brings together some of the recent advancements in the area of ICT-enhanced research and aims to discuss future directions for methodological innovation in this area. The session will include four presentations that will explore different directions of ICT use for eLearning research
Plasma Processing of Large Curved Surfaces for SRF Cavity Modification
Plasma based surface modification of niobium is a promising alternative to
wet etching of superconducting radio frequency (SRF) cavities. The development
of the technology based on Cl2/Ar plasma etching has to address several crucial
parameters which influence the etching rate and surface roughness, and
eventually, determine cavity performance. This includes dependence of the
process on the frequency of the RF generator, gas pressure, power level, the
driven (inner) electrode configuration, and the chlorine concentration in the
gas mixture during plasma processing. To demonstrate surface layer removal in
the asymmetric non-planar geometry, we are using a simple cylindrical cavity
with 8 ports symmetrically distributed over the cylinder. The ports are used
for diagnosing the plasma parameters and as holders for the samples to be
etched. The etching rate is highly correlated with the shape of the inner
electrode, radio-frequency (RF) circuit elements, chlorine concentration in the
Cl2/Ar gas mixtures, residence time of reactive species and temperature of the
cavity. Using cylindrical electrodes with variable radius, large-surface
ring-shaped samples and d.c. bias implementation in the external circuit we
have demonstrated substantial average etching rates and outlined the
possibility to optimize plasma properties with respect to maximum surface
processing effect
