Analysis of Corporate Governance Index Using ASEAN Balanced Score Card and Firm Performance
Governance plays a crucial role in most activities of socio-economic life. For any organizations, units, businesses or higher, a country, a community, the role of governance becomes more important than ever. For businesses, with globalization taking place and market becoming more competitive than ever, good Corporate Governance is now considered as a factor of success. Good corporate governance will help the company improve its ability to access to various sources of capital and operate more efficiently. However, in Vietnam particularly, Corporate Governance system still need to enhance and improve. Therefore, with the aim of surveying the current situation of Corporate Governance practices in Vietnam and giving the analysis of its impacts on businesses’ performance, this research is conducted from a sample of 60 listed-companies in both Construction and Food & Beverage industry for the time 2015, 2017 and 2018. By using the tool of ASEAN balanced scorecard to evaluate Vietnam Corporate Governance practices on 05 aspects: Rights of shareholders, Equitable treatment of shareholders, Roles of stakeholders, Disclosure and transparency and Board duties and responsibilities, the paper came to the low results of companies’ Corporate Governance practices in Vietnam. Based on this method, different relationships were found, one of which is the positive relationship between Corporate Governance Index and Tobin’s Q. Online Load Balancing for Network Functions Virtualization
Network Functions Virtualization (NFV) aims to support service providers to
deploy various services in a more agile and cost-effective way. However, the
softwarization and cloudification of network functions can result in severe
congestion and low network performance. In this paper, we propose a solution to
address this issue. We analyze and solve the online load balancing problem
using multipath routing in NFV to optimize network performance in response to
the dynamic changes of user demands. In particular, we first formulate the
optimization problem of load balancing as a mixed integer linear program for
achieving the optimal solution. We then develop the ORBIT algorithm that solves
the online load balancing problem. The performance guarantee of ORBIT is
analytically proved in comparison with the optimal offline solution. The
experiment results on real-world datasets show that ORBIT performs very well
for distributing traffic of each service demand across multipaths without
knowledge of future demands, especially under high-load conditions
Effectiveness of fluid viscous damper for steel frame building subjected to earthquake load
Since the appearance of the first modern multistories buildings, besides the demand of ensuring the bearing capacity, one of the urgent problems facing the engineer is to do how to design structure to ensure the requirements of normal use such as displacement, motion acceleration within permissible limits. There exist many methods to reduce these response of structure under lateral load. Among these, using fluid viscous damper (FVD) is one of the most applied equipment because of its simplicity. This paper presents the examination of eight-story steel frame structure subjected to seismic load. The FVD system is defined in Etabs with link properties. In each story, four dampers are located in each direction of plan, with two on each side of the center of stiffness of the story. The time history analysis was conducted to study the structure subjected to seimic load collected from the function library of program Etabs. The effect of FVD system was determined by the dynamic response of the building and displacement indexes such as maximum displacement of roof, story drift ratio. The results show that, all the dynamic response characters of structure were decreased significantly when providing the FVD to it
Advanced SOM & K Mean Method for Load Curve Clustering
From the load curve classification for one customer, the main features such as the seasonal factors, the weekday factors influencing on the electricity consumption may be extracted. By this way some utilities can make decision on the tariff by seasons or by day in week. The popular clustering techniques are the SOM & K-mean or Fuzzy K-mean. SOM &Kmean is a prominent approach for clustering with a two-level approach: first, the data set will be clustered using the SOM and in the second level, the SOM will be clustered by K-mean. In the first level, two training algorithms were examined: sequential and batch training. For the second level, the K-mean has the results that are strongly depended on the initial values of the centers. To overcome this, this paper used the subtractive clustering approach proposed by Chiu in 1994 to determine the centers. Because the effective radius in Chiu’s method has some influence on the number of centers, the paper applied the PSO technique to find the optimum radius. To valid the proposed approach, the test on well-known data samples is carried out. The applications for daily load curves of one Southern utility are presented
Multifactorial Evolutionary Algorithm For Clustered Minimum Routing Cost Problem
Minimum Routing Cost Clustered Tree Problem (CluMRCT) is applied in various
fields in both theory and application. Because the CluMRCT is NP-Hard, the
approximate approaches are suitable to find the solution for this problem.
Recently, Multifactorial Evolutionary Algorithm (MFEA) has emerged as one of
the most efficient approximation algorithms to deal with many different kinds
of problems. Therefore, this paper studies to apply MFEA for solving CluMRCT
problems. In the proposed MFEA, we focus on crossover and mutation operators
which create a valid solution of CluMRCT problem in two levels: first level
constructs spanning trees for graphs in clusters while the second level builds
a spanning tree for connecting among clusters. To reduce the consuming
resources, we will also introduce a new method of calculating the cost of
CluMRCT solution. The proposed algorithm is experimented on numerous types of
datasets. The experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of the
proposed algorithm, partially on large instance
